RQ General Manager of Racing Simon Stout said Road to the Magic Millions Day would be one of the highlights of the 2017/18 Queensland Summer Racing Carnival.

“Every race matters at Doomben this Saturday,” he said.

“Racing Queensland shaped the Queensland Summer Racing Carnival and UBET Summer Crowns Series to provide an ideal platform for horses targeting the $10 million Magic Millions Race Day.”

Non-Magic Millions can qualify to compete on the day by winning either the Falvelon Handicap, The Buffering, Shoot Out Quality or The Nudgee.

“With the likes of James Cummings, Chris Waller and Gai Waterhouse among the trainers who hope to qualify horses for Queensland’s biggest race day through the Magic Millions wild card races, we can expect to see some of the best racing in Australia this Saturday,” Mr Stout said.

Waterhouse and Adrian Bott can also claim the first $50,000 UBET Summer Crowns Bonus of the summer, should Villiers Stakes runner-up Cabeza de Vaca win the $300,000 Bernborough Handicap (1600m).

Queenslanders Most Important and Monsieur Gustave will be out to secure a second series win in The Buffering (1350m), to keep their $400,000 UBET Summer Sprint Crown hopes alive.

Sydney visitor Pierata will again take on Queensland’s Whypeeo in the Vo Rogue Plate (1350m), with victory keeping the $500,000 UBET Summer 3YO Crown in play.

The $50,000 trainer and jockeys’ bonus will also be hotly contested.

Corey Brown and Jim Byrne are locked in a tight battle for the jockeys’ title, while trainer Tony Gollan sits four points ahead of Toby Edmonds after his exceptional day at Doomben on December 16.
