Vitler boasts a three-kilogram claim on the provincial and city circuit and rides at 53kg.
Hatch is renowned as a top mentor of apprentice jockeys and has had Angela Jones, Kyle Wilson-Taylor, Jake Molloy and Baylee Nothdurft work for his stable on the Darling Downs before they transitioned to riding in the city.
“There are always things I need to work on as a rider and getting into the right camp, that will make that a lot easier,” Vitler said.
Vitler grew up in East Sussex, England and was with John Sergeant for six months at Randwick, then moved on to John Ramsey in Scone for a year before ending up with Cavanough.
“He’s ridden his share of winners and is coming to the end of his claim, so he’s ready to go to the next level,” Cavanough said of Vitler late last year.
