Country racing clubs set for $3 million investment
Racing Queensland has advised that applications for the next round of Country Club Asset Funding are now open.
Now in its third year, the CCAF provides $3 million per year for infrastructure repairs, as well as maintenance and asset replenishment for the state’s country racing clubs.
The first two rounds of CCAF have seen a total of 94 projects across 55 clubs approved. Of those projects, 76 have been fully delivered, with the remaining 18 now in construction
Recently completed CCAF projects include new 12-stall starting gates at Yeppoon Turf Club, 20 tie-up stalls and swab box at Wandoan Diggers’ Race Club, an animal ambulance at the Longreach Jockey Club and a shared starting gates trailer at the South Burnett Race Club.
In 2023, the CCAF stream replaced the Country Racing Program, which delivered more than 300 projects since its inception in 2018.
Racing Minister Tim Mander said the CCAF has wide-ranging community benefits across the state, including more jobs and much-needed infrastructure improvements.
“The Country Club Asset Funding has a proven track record of delivering important upgrades and maintenance enhancements to our country clubs spanning the state,” Minister Mander said.
“The Queensland racing industry is responsible for generating more than $2.4 billion in value added contribution to the Queensland economy, of which 51% directly benefits regional economies.
“We’re delighted to see this funding available once again, supporting the creation of hundreds of jobs across the state.
“The Crisafulli Government acknowledges country racing is the fabric of many rural Queensland towns, which is why we are committed to ensuring its ongoing viability and success.”
Applications close April 14, 2025.
In addition, Tier 1, 2 and 3 clubs will again have the opportunity to apply for infrastructure funding to assist in repairs and maintenance, along with asset replenishment and replacement, through Racing Queensland’s asset management framework.
