BRISBANE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT.17.6.00

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr A. Reardon (Chairman); Mr J. Hackett; Mr G. Ireland; Mr C. Clifford; Mr D. Aurisch; Mr W. Flynn.

WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - DEAD RAIL - 3M. ALL TRACK

GENERAL: From QTC meeting, 12.6.00

Trainer A. Bailey was fined $50 for nominating KING SALIERI in a 2MW race when ineligible.


RACE 1: AMERICAN ODYSSEY H'CAP - 2200M.

MY TUDOR ROSE jumped awkwardly and shifted out, inconveniencing LOVE TO HONOR.

Shortly after the start, LOVE TO HONOR, when shifting in, had to be steadied off the heels of MY TUDOR ROSE.

SUNSET and LOVE TO HONOR pulled hard in the early and middle stages.

D. Beadman reported that LOVE TO HONOR returned to scale with its tongue over the bit.

A veterinary examination of MY TUDOR ROSE revealed that filly to have sustained a laceration to the inside of the off hock.


RACE 2: CHANNEL 10 H'CAP - 1350M.

MELLIERI was held up for clear running from the 400m. until near the 250m..


RACE 3: LOGAN INSURANCE SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1615M.

POLAR PRINCESS was very slow to jump when the barriers were released and as a result lost considerable ground. Trainer C. O'Neill was advised that a warning was being placed on the filly in relation to the her barrier manners.

MISS CORTONA was slow to begin.

Near the 200m., KENA had to be restrained off the heels of ROYAL SOLITAIRE.

At approximately the 100m., SAW MILL SALLY shifted in and away from KILORA QUEEN and brushed ROYAL SOLITAIRE.


RACE 4: FITTON INSURANCE H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer J. Morish was fined $50 for failing to present INAUGURATION on course by the prescribed time.
FORGING AWAY and AUSSIE DAPPER came together on jumping away.

When questioned, in relation to the disappointing performance of LIAM LAD, S. Katsidis stated he intended to take a trail on the gelding in the early stages, however after travelling a short distance he was caught wide and he therefore elected to go forward and lead, however when placed under pressure after entering the straight, LIAM LAD failed to respond and was a beaten horse from near the 200m.. A veterinary examination of LIAM LAD failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken from that gelding.


RACE 5: GLENLOGAN PARK STAKES - 1350M.

TA TA and CHIMING LASS were slow to begin.

RIPPLING MILL jumped away awkwardly and hampered CLASSIC CLICHÉ.

TRINA also began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with LA PHILOMENE, which in turn shifted out, hampering GROUSE LANE.

When the pace steadied near the 1100m., LA PHILOMENE shifted out and away from the heels of PLANET ZAM.

After leaving the 700m., TA TA shifted out and away from the heels of SPIRIT OF GRACE and inconvenienced PLANET ZAM.



RACE 6: QBBS GOLDEN STAKES SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1200M.

SPLENDIDO and THE ALMIGHTY ONE came together on jumping away.

ZERO RULES was slow to begin.

ZERO RULES hung in under pressure in the early stages of the straight. M. Paget explained that he was unable to ride ZERO RULES out to the best of his ability due to that colt's inclination to hang in.

When questioned, D. Beadman, rider of CHECK OR BET, stated that the gelding travelled well until the pace quickened near the 500m. but then was unable to improve due to the track conditions. A veterinary examination of CHECK OR BET failed to reveal any abnormality.



RACE 7: QBBS DOOMBEN BREEDERS CLASSIC - 1350M.

Near the 1200m., MAKIN' TRACKS was tightened for room between COOL IMAGE and AULD HAT, which shifted in and away from ARTIQUE. Shortly after this incident, MAKIN' TRACKS then shifted out and became unbalanced and made heavy contact with AULD HAT.



BLUE CELESTE commenced to hang out from the 800m. and continued to do so for some distance approaching the home turn. At this stage, YORUBA improved quickly to the inside of BLUE CELESTE, which resulted in BLUE CELESTE shifting out further, causing SWEET CHERI PIE having to be severely checked when taken out on to STORMY LODGE. Trainer S. MacKinnon will be interviewed in relation to the racing manners of BLUE CELESTE.

Shortly after entering the straight, BLUE CELESTE had to be steadied off the heels of YORUBA, which shifted out.

ANGELAH MOON had to be checked near the 200m. to avoid the heels of BLUE CELESTE, which continued to shift out under pressure.

MOSES DRIVER, which raced wide throughout and tired over the concluding stages, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon with no abnormalities reported.



RACE 8: SHINKO FOREST SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.

Prior to the start being effected, MASINDOR broke through the barriers and was quickly restrained. As a result of that gelding's barrier gate opening, a malfunction occurred in the remaining barriers, which resulted in all the gates opening. A number of runners were restrained by the 800m., however REGAL TYCOON, HALLABALOO and SWIRLER were unable to be restrained and completed a circuit of the track as well as the riderless SEA BREAK. Those 4 horses were withdrawn at 4.47. Subsequent the event, stewards ordered all monies invested on the late scratchings be refunded, with no deductions made to betting. Horses which had galloped for some distance were examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed to start.

After leaving the 1100m., BEAMER had to be steadied off the heels of ALPINE EXPRESS, which shifted in. A. Morrison, rider of ALPINE EXPRESS, was advised to exercise more care.

Near the 800m., TOMMIX had to be restrained off the heels of SHADIYM.

After passing the 700m., BEAMER had to be steadied off the heels of BANYAN BAY, which shifted in. D. Sullivan, rider of BANYAN BAY, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Making the home turn, EXTREME RED was held up for clear running behind MASINDOR.

Over the concluding stages, BANYAN BAY shifted out under pressure, resulting in EXTREME RED having to be steadied when tightened for room between that runner and MASINDOR.


ALL WINNERS AND LIAM LADWERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
