From Saturday, 14.1.06. Race 3. The Stayers Cup – 1800m.

Jockey M. Cahill was fined $200 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight on PICABLU.

Race 1: Regal Advice 3yo Class 6 H’cap – 2100m.
1st - Modesh 2nd - Hopeson 3rd – Dr Dujon 4th - Sacerdotee

BEARHART LAD (K. Pope) jumped away awkwardly.

OOLEY DOOLEY (J. Taylor) was inclined to lay out in the middle stages.

Rounding the home turn, HOPESON (J. Warrington) was placed in restricted room between SACERDOTEE (J. Bowditch) and DR DUJON (R. McMahon), which shifted out to improve. In this incident, HOPESON made contact with SACERDOTEE. Apprentice R. McMahon, rider of DR DUJON, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Near the 350m., HOPESON shifted out to improve and made contact with SACERDOTEE. SACERDOTEE then shifted back in and as a result HOPESON had to be momentarily steadied and alter course to obtain a run to the inside of DR DUJON.

Race 2: Copperama QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1000m.
1st – Tender Truce 2nd - Karalee 3rd – Silent Power 4th – Marske Prince

Trainer W. King was fined $50 for presenting COLLINA with the incorrect gear.

Jockey B. Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge under AR85B, in that he failed to fulfil his riding engagement on MR LUCKY CEE. B. Stewart was fined the sum of $200. Stewards permitted J. Taylor as the replacement rider for MR LUCKY CEE.

SILENT POWER (B. Pengelly) jumped inwards at the start and made contact with EMMATAY LANE (M. Carson), which was a little slow to begin.

Near the 850m., SILENT POWER had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of KARALEE (G.Colless), which shifted in. G. Colless, rider of KARALEE, was advised to allow sufficient clearance when crossing.

Near the 650m., EMMATAY LANE (M. Carson) had to be steadied when tightened for room by SILENT POWER (B. Pengelly), which shifted in. A short distance later, SILENT POWER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KARALEE. B. Pengelly, rider of SILENT POWER, was advised to exercise more care.

Race 3: QRSE Anchor In 3yo H’cap – 1000m.
1st – Saint Angelo 2nd – Just The Star 3rd - Envelope 4th – Giacometti

Trainer B. Laming was fined $50 for failing to notify cheekers for JUST THE STAR by the prescribed time.

JUST THE STAR (M. Cahill) blundered on jumping away.

JAY DEE ROCKS (J. Bowditch), BELAMONGTE (C. Gilby) and RASINI (S. Katsidis) were all slow to begin.

SAINT ANGELO (R. McMahon) made the 600m. crossing awkwardly.

Race 4: Royal Paree Class 6 H’cap – 1600m.
1st – Go Gazza 2nd – Milady Clang 3rd – Hello Possums 4th – Moving North

GO GAZZA (M. Morris) jumped away awkwardly.

MILADY CLANG (J. Taylor) was caught wide in the early stages.

Near the 350m., MOVING NORTH (D. Green) was disappointed for a run between BAVOSA (M. Palmer) and TRY SOME MAGIC (C.Spry), which shifted in slightly. As a result, MOVING NORTH had to be steadied.

KING LATARMISS (M. Cahill) was forced to race wide for the entire event.

Race 5: Scomeld No Metro Wins H’cap – 1400m.
1st - Thebarefootbushman 2nd - Gang 3rd - Instructed 4th - Polar Wolf

Trainer J. Morrisey was fined $100 for failing to notify a rider for INSTRUCTED by the prescribed time. Due to a misunderstanding, B. El-Issa was notified as the rider for INSTRUCTED. Stewards permitted S. Galloway as the replacement rider for that gelding.

GEETEEHAYCHO (M. Cahill), which was a little slow to begin, was hampered on jumping away between GANG (R. McMahon) and POLAR WOLF (G. Farrer), which was taken out by OVERSEAS (M. Carson). In this incident, GEETEEHAYCHO had to be steadied.

Shortly after the start, UDDER BRILLIANCE (B. Stewart) shifted out and made contact with WHAT A LANDING (C.Spry), which in turn shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of THEBAREFOOTBUSHMAN (R. Mason), which became unbalanced.

Shortly after straightening, INSTRUCTED (S. Galloway) shifted in and bumped SPURIOUS (J. Bowditch).

Passing the 300m., UDDER BRILLIANCE shifted out and bumped DANE IN GOLD (M. Palmer).

Over the concluding stages, THEBAREFOOTBUSHMAN was inclined to shift ground outwards under pressure.

POLAR WOLF (G. Farrer) and SILVERTHORNE (S. Richardson) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event..

CEE JAY TEE and GANG both lost their off hind plates in running.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of GEETEEHAYCHO, M. Cahill stated that, in his opinion, the gelding never travelled well throughout the event and was under pressure shortly after straightening. A post race veterinary examination of GEETEEHAYCHO failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken.

A post race veterinary examination of ATRIUMS, which compounded, failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 6: Jimmy’s 65th On Saturday 28 January H’cap – 1800m.
1st – High Academy 2nd - Xlerate 3rd – Scenic Wells 4th - Adavale Hornet

ENTHUSIAST (M. Palmer) reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. ENTHUSIAST was then obliged to race wide for the majority of the event. Following the event, apprentice M. Palmer made application for ENTHUSIAST to be declared a non-runner. After viewing the video, stewards were satisfied that ENTHUSIAST had reared of its own volition as the start was effected, therefore deemed that the gelding had not been denied a fair start.

Approaching the 1200m., ENTHUSIAST (M. Palmer) had to be steadied when tightened for room by SCENIC WELLS (S. Galloway), which shifted in abruptly after being momentarily tightened by ATRIUMS (R. McMahon), which shifted in. Apprentice R. McMahon, rider of ATRIUMS, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Shortly after straightening, XLERATE (B. Pengelly) shifted in and bumped ENTHUSIAST, which in turn shifted in and bumped the hind quarters of ENABLER (M. Cahill). As a result, ENTHUSIAST became unbalanced.

The track rating was upgraded to slow at 4 p.m..

Near the 700m., DANTIBES RHYTHM shifted out and forced THAT’S BETTER wider.

Near the 600m., THAT’S BETTER, which was inclined to lay in, had to be steadied off the heels of DANTIBES RHYTHM.

Shortly after straightening, DANTIBES RHYTHM (B. El-Issa) shifted out to improve and brushed THAT’S BETTER (B. Stewart).
