SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

As S. Galloway was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.


Race 1: Oscar Oscar Class 3 H’cap – 2229m
1st – Willow Park 2nd – Breaking The Rules 3rd – Shower Champers 4th – Miss Umatilla

FEATHER BED (A. Pattillo) jumped away awkwardly.

When the pace was slow in the middle stages, LORD RUPERT shifted out to improve, however the horse was caught wide for some distance.

B. Pengelly, rider of LORD RUPERT, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish of the race.

Following this race, A. Pattillo (FEATHER BED) was examined by the club’s doctor after contacting the barrier partition with his left elbow on jumping and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.


Race 2: Skyy Vodka Girls’ Day Out Maiden H’cap – 1600m
1st – Bundala 2nd – Mr Clang 3rd – Harry’s Choice 4th – Mighty Natural

I’M SO BLESSED (M. Rodd) jumped inwards at the start and tightened THORNTONIA (G. Lynch).

A short distance later, THORNTONIA was again hampered between I’M SO BLESSED (M. Rodd) and HARRY’S CHOI CE (J. Taylor), which was taken out slightly by GOLDEN ANVIL (A. Erhart).

ROSENDAHL (M. Palmer) jumped outwards at the start, tightening SILVER CLASSIC (M. Morris) on to BUNDALA (S. Katsidis).

ALVALDI (G. Colless), which was slow to get into stride and then attempted to buck and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination of ALVALDI failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that ALVALDI must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.

Leaving the 1200m, HARRY’S CHOICE (J. Taylor) was inclined to overrace and had to be steadied on a number of occasions off the heels of FUSH (N. Tomizawa).

After being caught wide in the early and middle stages, SHE’S NOTABLE, jockey A. Pattillo sent the horse forward to the lead leaving the 800m.

HARRY’S CHOICE (J. Taylor), which had been racing ungenerously in the middle stages, made the crossing inside the 600m awkwardly.

N. Tomizawa, rider of FUSH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 400m he permitted his mount to shift out around the heels of SIRELLE when insufficiently clear of GOLDEN ANVIL, which resulted in GOLDEN ANVIL being taken out on to ROSENDAHL, which in turn was forced out on to the hind quarters of FLYING RAPID. N. Tomizawa was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 11 February and to expire at midnight, 24 February 2006.

Apprentice M. Morris was reprimanded for smoking in the jockeys’ room.


Race 3: Just Car Insurance 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1400m
1st – Belamonte 2nd – Greenfinder 3rd – Sovereign Dream 4th – Thaumas

After being a little slow to jump, SOVEREIGN DREAM (J. Holder) was momentarily tightened for room by BELAMONTE (S. Katsidis), which shifted in. SOVEREIGN DREAM was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.

After jumping away, MADAME KITTY (S. Shield) shifted out and made contact with GLENCOYNE (M. Palmer).

Leaving the 1300m., LA STYLISH (J. Bowditch) was cramped for room between WATTS DOING (A. Pattillo) and ASTRAL TRAVEL (S. Jones), which shifted out slightly.

Passing the 1000m., ILLEONE (M. Paget) raced ungenerously in restricted room inside WATTS DOING (A. Pattillo).

Near the 900m., ILLEONE (M. Paget) had to be restrained off the heels of WATTS DOING (A. Pattillo).


ILLEONE made the crossing awkwardly and then compounded. Connections indicated that the filly would be sent for a spell. A post race veterinary examination of ILLEONE revealed the filly to have blood in one nostril, and in accordance with Rule AR53A(7), the horse must trial satisfactorily over 1000 metres prior to its next race start. A swab sample was taken from ILLEONE.

ILLEONE cast its off fore plate in running.


Race 4: Napolean Perdis 3yo & Up Maiden Plate – 1000m
1st – Devil Inside 2nd – Cigallo 3rd – Coquito Rose 4th – Miss Monash

DARING FORTUNE (C. Small) jumped away awkwardly.

ROMANOVA (M. Price), which was a little slow to begin, was hampered soon after the start by MACHI (A. Best), which shifted in.

Approaching the 600m., MACHI (A. Best) was cramped for room between ROMANOVA (M. Price) and DARING FORTUNE (C. Small) when both horses shifted ground slightly.

ROMANOVA (M. Price) shifted out making the crossing at the 600m and brushed DARING FORTUNE.

ROMANOVA was held up in the early stages of the straight.

DAVION (M. Rodd) hung in badly in the straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage in testing his mount. Connections undertook to trial the horse before its next race start.

The club's veterinary surgeon reported that THE LOLLIPOP LADY returned to scale with blood in its mouth as a result of a laceration to its gum.


Race 5: Tooheys Extra Dry Class 6 H’cap – 1000m
1st – Piccohi 2nd – Eagle Hill 3rd – Dortmunder 4th – Postcard Bandit

DREAM ‘N’ SCHEME (K. Pope) jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 600m, DREAM ‘N’ SCHEME (K. Pope), which was inclined to lay out, had to be steadied off the heels of DORTMUNDER (P. Denton).

SUPERSTAR LEO (S. Katsidis) brushed the running rail near the 500m.

PICCOHI (J. Bowditch) cast its off fore plate in running.









Race 6: Lyndhurst Stud Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Sectagonal 2nd – October Grey 3rd – Super Sails 4th – Citico

K. Pope was examined by the club’s doctor after riding in race 5 and stood down from his remaining engagments. G. Farrer was substituted as the rider of SEATTLE ZIP, and J. Morris as the rider of KIDLING in race 7.

SUPER SAILS was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon at the barriers and cleared to race.

M. Rodd, rider of ON BAIL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 1100m. he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SEATTLE ZIP, which shifted in and made contact with JULIO REX (G. Lynch). In this incident, SEATTLE ZIP M. Rodd was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 15 February and to expire at midnight, 26 February 2005.

Near the 1000m., SAN VITALE (D. Ballard) became unbalanced and lost ground when racing in restricted room inside CITICO (J. Taylor), which was inclined to lay in away from PRIMODORO (N. Day), which was taken in slightly by ON BAIL (M. Rodd). SUPER SAILS (A. Pattillo), which was following, shifted out, making contact with LIKAZYRTEC (K. Wharton), which in turn shifted out and bumped COREINVESTOR (J. Holder). MOONBI NUMPH (S. Katsidis) and OCTOBER GREY (M. Cahill) were also inconvenienced in this incident as a consequence. M. Rodd, rider of ON BAIL, was advised to exercise more care.

After passing the 1000m, SUPER SAILS commenced to overrace.

Passing the 800m., SAN VITALE (D. Ballard) was tightened for room by SUPER SAILS (A. Pattillo), which shifted in when overracing. In this incident, SAN VITALE had to be checked.

After leaving the crossing, JULIO REX (G. Lynch) had to be checked when MOMFASA raced ungenerously and shifted in away from the heels of LIKAZYRTEC.

Approaching the 550m, MOONBI NYMPH (S. Katsidis) ran up on to the heels of COREINVESTOR (J. Holder) (G. Farrer) and had to be steadied.

Passing the 500m., JULIO REX (G. Lynch) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by MOMFASA (D. Craven), which shifted in slightly.

J. Holder, rider of COREINVESTOR, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 400m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MOONBI NYMPH, resulting in MOONBI NYMPH having to be checked. J. Holder was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 12 February, and to expire at midnight, 25 February 2006.

OCTOBER GREY was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of J. Taylor, rider of CITICO, approaching the finish line.

OCTOBER GREY raced wide for the majority of the event.

SECTAGONAL lost its off fore plate in running.


Race 7: Heineken Class 4 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Feline Artistry 2nd – Daily Issue 3rd – Gonzalo 4th – Draveen

Near the 1200m., KIDLING (J. Morris) had to be steadied when tightened for room between BIT OF MAGIC (J. Holder) and GONZALO (M. Cahill), which was taken in slightly by NEVADA GAMBLER (K. Wharton).

GAME ON (B. Pengelly) overraced in the middle stages.

GAME ON (B. Pengelly) and BIT OF MAGIC (J. Holder) made the crossing inside the 600m. awkwardly and shortly after leaving the crossing, GAME ON blundered.


Race 8: Conrad Treasury Brisbane Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Circus Maximus 2nd – Mazacar 3rd – Echo Gun 4th – Redone

The announcement of correct weight was delayed to enable apprentice R. Mason, rider of FROTTAGE, to view the film of the start. Stewards were satisfied that the horse was afforded the opportunity to jump with the field.

FROTTAGE reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

Approaching the 1200m., FROTTAGE, which had commenced to overrace after missing the start, had to be checked off the heels of GUERROUJ (N. Tomizawa).

At the 800m., IMPETUS (D. Ballard) improved on to the heels of ECHO GUN (B. Stewart) and had to be checked. REDONE (M. Cahill), which was following, shifted out off the heels of IMPETUS in this incident, forcing CIRCUS MAXIMUS (J. Morris) out on to GUERROUJ (N. Tomizawa), which shifted out, taking FROTTAGE wider. FROTTAGE then raced wide for the remainder of the race.

CIRCUS MAXIMUS shifted out on straightening to take a run to the outside of FROTTAGE, however as a result of runners shifting out to improve, CIRCUS MAXIMUS was obliged to make its run extremely wide in the straight.
