Race 1: MCGIRL REALTY QTIS 3YO CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1600M
1st – Ice Chariot 2nd – My Flight 3rd – Sovereign Dream 4th – Jay Dee Rocks

NATIONAL FOREST (R. McMahon) was slow to begin.

DUST TROUBLE (S. Drake) was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Passing the 1400m SHALE SHAKER (B. El-Issa) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SOVEREIGN DREAM (M. Cahill) which shifted in.

Passing the 700m SHALE SHAKER ran up on to the heels of SOVEREIGN DREAM and had to be steadied.

At the 450m ROCK BABY ROCK (C. Spry) shifted in and brushed the running rail.

After passing the 300m ROCK BABY ROCK was inclined to lay in and near the winning post continued to lay in tightening BELAMONTE (S. Katsidis) which had to be steadied.

Near the 50m GUERROUJ (N. Tomizawa) shifted out and bumped NATIONAL FOREST. NATIONAL FOREST was then placed in restricted room between GUERROUJ and SOVEREIGN DREAM which shifted in slightly.

Stewards intend to speak with apprentice S. Drake regarding her use of the whip on DUST TROUBLE.

A swab sample was taken from MY FLIGHT.

Race 2: TRANSASIA PACIFIC PROJECTS QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1300M
1st – Inthemix 2nd – Wesley Manor 3rd – Winaura 4th – Princess Norma

DANS D’OR (A. Merritt) and O’CALLAHERN (S. Katsidis) came together on jumping away.

Shortly after the start DIRTY WEEKEND (J. Holder) was placed in restricted room between NIMIE (M. Palmer) and PRINCESS NORMA (R. Mason).

DIRTY WEEKEND raced ungenerously in the early stages.

DANS D’OR was inclined to overrace between the 1000m and the 400m.

After passing the 600m INTHEMIX (G. Lynch) shifted out to improve and had to be steadied off the heels of BELLAMOSS (B. El-Issa). As a result, INTHEMIX further shifted out hampering NIMIE and DIRTY WEEKEND.

Approaching the 300m BELLAMOSS shifted in and bumped WAY OF THE WORLD (S. Galloway).

R. Mason, the rider of PRINCESS NORMA accidentally dropped her whip at the 300m.

Near the 200m DELESIA (A. Pattillo) was momentarily tightened for room between O’CALLAHERN, which shifted in, and WIDE OPEN (J. Bowditch), which was shifting out in an endeavour to obtain clear running.

Inside the final 30m WAY OF THE WORLD was placed in restricted room to the inside of WIDE OPEN.

Race 3: SIR JAMES HARDY WINES H’CAP – 2200M
1st – Dead Cat Bounce 2nd – Makin Love 3rd – Milady Clang 4th – Alackajaz

BACKSTAGE GIRL (K. Wharton) overraced in the early stages.

Near the 350m MAKIN LOVE (D. Green) shifted in and made contact with MILADY CLANG (J. Taylor).

Passing the 800m MAKIN LOVE shifted out, placing DEAD CAT BOUNCE (S. Galloway) three wide. MAKIN LOVE was then inclined to overrace on the heels of MONSOON SUNRISE (M. Cahill).

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of MONSOON SUNRISE, jockey M. Cahill stated that the gelding began better than anticipated which resulted in him having the horse more forward than he would have liked. He further stated that the gelding was inclined to race keenly throughout and was under pressure shortly after straightening. Trainer N. McBurney reiterated M. Cahill’s comments and added that prior to today he had reservations whether the gelding could run a strong 2200m. He further added that the horse would be sent for an immediate spell.

A post-race veterinary examination of ADAVALE HORNET failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that RUN A MUK was suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection. A swab sample was taken from RUN A MUK. Trainer B. J. Smith was advised that a full veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to the horse’s next start.

Race 4: GILSHENAN & LUTON CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1600M
1st – Fair Ace 2nd – Mighty Icon 3rd – Abu Simbel 4th – Red Pill

MIGHTY ICON (M. Radecker) raced wide for the entire event.

ANCIENT KING (J. Holder) was held up for clear running from after passing the 250m.

HE’S LATIN (R. McMahon) had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

When questioned as to the reason why TELE SERIES led today as opposed to its normal racing pattern of settling back in the field, jockey K. Wharton stated that it was the connections’ intentions to have the horse a little handier than normal, however shortly after beginning the horse was inclined to overrace.

Race 5: GUINNESS (DIAGEO) F&M CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Strategic Choice 2nd – Partridge 3rd – Stepping 4th – Anabasca

CANADIAN SHUFFLE (M. Radecker) was hampered on jumping away between STRATEGIC CHOICE (R. Plumb) and MILADY MATTY (J. Holder) which shifted out.

VEE ROD (M. Morris) jumped away awkwardly.

Passing the 900m SERENOTE (M. Palmer) had to be steadied off the heels of WELCOME SITE (B. El-Issa). MILADY MATTY, which was following, also had to be steadied.

Approaching the 700m DANTIBES RHYTHM (M. Price) ran up on to the heels of CANADIAN SHUFFLE and was then obliged to shift out.

MILADY MATTY was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

Near the 150m SERENOTE was disappointed for a run between ANABASCA (R. Mason) and STRATEGIC CHOICE.

STEPPING lost its near for plate in running.

A swab sample was taken from STEPPING.

Race 6: QUEENSLAND IRISH ASSOCIATION 0MW H’CAP – 1000M
1st – Devil Inside 2nd – Dear Jilly 3rd – Buck’s Secret 4th – Langfibian

Trainer S. Lee was fined $100 under LR 70 for failing to declare S. Galloway as the rider of ENDOSADO by the prescribed time.

As S. Galloway was to be overweight, B. El-Issa was substituted as the rider of ENDOSADO. S. Galloway was fined $100 under AR 120(b).

DEAR JILLY (J. Holder) jumped away awkwardly.

BUCK’S SECRET (M. Radecker) jumped away awkwardly.

ENDOSADO (B. El-Issa) and TYCOON TED (T. Unwin) were placed in restricted room shortly after the start between OVERRUN (C. Spry) and GARIBALDI (M. Cahill) which shifted out.

Passing the 900m LEARNED LEO (K. Pope) was momentarily inconvenienced by OVERRUN which shifted out.

Near the 750m DEFECTING PLAYBOY (K. Wharton) and PETERKIN (M. Palmer) were placed in restricted room between OVERRUN, which shifted out, and SHEEMA (R. Plumb) which shifted in.

Near the 250m SHEEMA was momentarily inconvenienced between BUCK’S SECRET, which shifted in, and OVERRUN, which shifted out slightly.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of LEANED LEO, K. Pope stated that the horse was unable to muster speed in the early stages and never travelled throughout the event. He added that in his opinion the gelding performed disappointingly. Trainer K. Schweida stated that the horse may not have been entirely suited to the distance of today’s event and in his opinion does not race well when unable to take a forward position. He undertook to advise stewards in the days following if anything came to light that may have had an effect on the horse’s performance. A veterinary examination of LEARNED LEO failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that DEAR JILLY sustained a laceration over the off eye.

Race 7: WATERFORD WEDGEWOOD 1MW LY H’CAP – 1400M
1st – Tellem 2nd – Maizy May 3rd – Rue The Saint 4th – Telegrand

As S. Shield was to be overweight, K. Wharton was substituted as the rider of GAZZAM. S. Shield was fined $100 under AR 120(b).

PRIME WITNESS (R. McMahon) was slow to begin.

DESERT RANSOM (M. Cahill) and PROUD NATIVE (A. Erhart) were tightened on jumping away between LITTLE PUNC (J. Holder) and GAZZAM (K. Wharton) which shifted out.

Approaching the 1300m LEGAL BRIEF (D. Craven) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PRINCE OF ASHES (A. Merritt) which shifted out slightly.

Passing the 1200m ACTIVE COMBAT (J. Bowditch) commenced to overrace and did so for some distance.

Near the 1000m ASTROFLASH (S. Richardson) had to be steadied off the heels of HUDDLE (J. Taylor).

Passing the 1000m MOTIVATE (M. Palmer), which was overracing, ran up on to the heels of GENERALISSIMO (S. Galloway) and had to be steadied. MOTIVATE continued to overrace and near the 900m had to be steadied off the heels of DESERT RANSOM.

LATINLOVER (A. Best) was forced to race wide throughout.

Passing the 300m SONARCHI (R. Mason) shifted out to improve, taking ACTIVE COMBAT out on to LATINLOVER, which became unbalanced and continued to shift out resulting in LEGAL BRIEF having to be steadied when tightened on to CELTIC TRIAL (B. Stewart).

DESERT RANSOM had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Race 8: MARANCIA C,G&E CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Court Adjourned 2nd – This Too Shallpass 3rd – San Franfrisco 4th – Colin’s Party

Trainer P. Facoory was fined $200 under AR 140A for presenting COURT ADJOURNED without its correct gear.

PICTURE BOOK (M. Morris) and BIG KEA (M. Radecker) were slow to begin.

COLIN’S PARTY (A. Pattillo) and SAN FRANFRISCO (R. McMahon) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 800m BIG KEA was momentarily tightened for room by THAT’S BETTER (B. Stewart), which was taken in slightly by DANE IN GOLD (C. Spry). In this incident BIG KEA became unbalanced and lost ground. SHORT WAY (J. Holder) and PICTURE BOOK, which were following, were hampered as a consequence.

Near the 100m PICTURE BOOK ran up on to the heels of NORTHERN FORCE (N. Tomizawa) and had to be steadied.

A post-race veterinary examination of COGNISANT failed to reveal any abnormalities.
