Cassidy), resulting in that runner being tightened and taken in on to AMBITIOUS PRINCESS (D. Oliver), which had to be eased when tightened for room.
Near the 300m DRIVEL (T Angland) when attempting a doubtful run between MOTHER'S MILK (App T Bell) and Al NAKLA (J Cassidy) made contact with the hindquarters of AL NAKLA causing that horse to shift in which resulted in DRIVEL clipping the heels of AL NAKLA and blundering. In the circumstances stewards took no direct action other than to advise T. Angland to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

C. Grylls, rider of NOSHOWS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ARDECHE (B. Shinn), which resulted in that horse being taken in on to ÉCLAIR NETWORK (C. Newitt), which shifted in, resulting in TRUE BLUE ANGEL losing its position when tightened on to the running rail. C. Grylls was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 12 June and to expire at midnight, 26 June.

In the early and middle stages, ANOTHER TAKEOVER (M. Walker) raced most ungenerously and threw its head about, and in the straight when making ground had to shift out to find running and go forward.
Near the 700m, SARGE IN CHARGE (S. Katsidis), which left the gates awkwardly, was checked when crowded for room between HUXSSEN (G. After this incident, CHANGING EYES continued to hang in.

Race 3: XXXX Gold Strawberry Road Quality H'cap - 1600m
1st – Our Lukas 2nd – Rockdale 3rd – Eire Of Magic 4th – Secrets Untold
The declaration of correct weight was delayed as the stewards wished to satisfy themselves if FIREBOLT (D. Nikolic) had been denied a fair start. In endeavouring to arrive at a proper conclusion, stewards took evidence from jockey D. Nikolic, Mr R. James, trainer of FIREBOLT, and from Mr W. Shuck, Brisbane Racing Club Head Starter. It was established that after being boxed early, D. Nikolic had sought the assistance of an attendant to settle the horse. D. Nikolic stated that as the starter was indicating it was close to release time, FIREBOLT was up on the front of the gates and he was endeavouring to move the horse back slightly. He said that on several occasions he did ask for the attendant to release FIREBOLT. The film showed that FIREBOLT was standing squarely and in a position to jump when an attendant had hold of the near-side portion of the bridle and as the gates opened, FIREBOLT reared whilst still being held by the attendant and lost a lot of ground. Its chances of success in the race were clearly prejudiced. However in all the circumstances, stewards could not be satisfied that what had occurred resulted in the horse being denied a fair start in accordance with the provisions of Rule AR134A and therefore FIREBOLT was declared a runner and correct weight was announced on the numbers as semaphored by the judge.
HELIDECK (T. Bell) left the gates very awkwardly and as a consequence lost ground.
For a considerable distance in the middle stages, AHDASHIM (B. Shinn) became unbalanced and threw its head about when racing close to the heels of REBOUNDED (M. Radecker).
For most of the race, RAMPANT LION (S. Scriven) was obliged to race wide without cover.
A post race veterinary examination of RAMPANT LION, which lost its near fore plate in running, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
A post race veterinary examination of AHDASHIM failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Just after the start, from a difficult gate, FASHION was steadied and shifted across behind the field to take up a position near the rail at the rear.
In the early and middle stages, SHADOWS IN THE SUN raced ungenerously and threw its head about, then raced to the outside of the field.
On a number of occasions in the middle stages, TURNITUP (D. Browne) became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ZACHARY (K. McEvoy).
Near the 400m, PRESSDAY (N. Rawiller) was steadied and shifted across the heels of RINGA RINGA ROSIE (C. Munce) to go forward.
Rounding the home turn, IF IT CAN IT WILL (M. Rodd) raced ungenerously and became unbalanced.
From its difficult gate, STARCHEEKA (G. Boss) was obliged to cover quite a bit of extra ground throughout.
MONTREUX JAZZ (J. Taylor) raced extremely wide throughout.

Near the winning post on the first occasion, NEWPORT (D. Nikolic) overraced and had to be steadied from the heels of INDIKATOR (G. Colless). EKSTREME (D. Browne), which was following, also had to be steadied as a consequence.
Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, EKSTREME was unable to improve when racing in restricted room to the inside of SIR SLICK (D. Walsh).
FULMONTI (M. Walker) was held up for clear running in the straight until a point approaching the 200m.
PERSIAN STAR (G. Boss) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight until a point near the 200m where it shifted out and made contact with FULMONTI in order to obtain clear running.
When being ridden out in the straight, TINSELTOWN (C. Grylls) commenced to shift ground. After the 200m when C. Grylls momentarily dropped his off-side rein, TINSELTOWN shifted out abruptly. Shortly after gathering his rein, C. Grylls attempted to ride along again and TINSELTOWN shifted in, bumping INDIKATOR (G. Boss), which in turn shifted ground and brushed with FULMONTI. On this occasion, stewards decided not to take any direct action but C Grylls was severely reprimanded for the lack of control he had over his mount in the straight and was advised his riding display had left a lot to be desired.
Jockey D. Oliver, rider of BAUGHURST, stated that the horse was inclined to pull a little in the early and middle stages of the race but he thought it travelled satisfactorily and made nice ground in the early part of the straight but over the last 200m did not close the race off as he thought it would and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of BAUGHURST failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
A post race veterinary examination of TNSELTOWN revealed the horse to have abrasions to all 4 bumpers.
Race 6: Channel Seven Queensland Group 1 Derby - 2400m
1st – Dariana 2nd – Kutchinsky 3rd – Miss Keepsake 4th - Keyora
SANDERSON (J. Holder) left the gates awkwardly.
On jumping away, ROCKET TO RIO (C. Williams) was crowded for room between BRIGHTNIGHT (B. Shinn) and KEYORA (H. Bowman), which was taken in by LET THEM HAVE IT (C. Brown). The occurrence was accidental.
In the early stages, CABEZA (N. Rawiller) proved difficult to settle and thew its head about and shifted a lot of ground. Trainer D. O’Brien will be interviewed at a later date.
M. Zahra, rider of MARHETA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near a point passing the winning post on the first occasion when insufficiently clear of LET THEM HAVE IT (C. Brown), resulting in LET THEM HAVE IT having to be checked to avoid the heels of MARHETA. In this incident THE HOMBRE (J Riddell) which was racing to the inside of LET THEM HAVE IT shifted in despite the efforts of its rider after being momentarily crowded resulting in RACING HEART (S Scriven) having to be checked and MISS KEEPSAKE (NZ) being tightened for room. M. Zahra was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 20 June and to expire at midnight, 3 July.
L. Nolen, rider of ARVAN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BRIGHTNIGHT (B. Shinn), which commenced to overrace to the inside of ARVAN, which resulted in B. Shinn, rider of BRIGHTNIGHT, having to unnecessarily restrain his mount away from the heels of ARVAN and shift in, tightening the running of FIELDMASTER. L. Nolen was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 16 June and to expire at midnight, 29 June.
Near the 550m, BLUES WAY (T. Angland), which was compounding, shifted in and brushed the running rail. As a result of this, inconvenience was caused to MISS KEEPSAKE (C. Munce).
Throughout the race, SIR TIME KEEPER (D. Walsh) had a tendency to lay out.
MISS KEEPSAKE (C. Munce) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn until near the 200m.

Race 7: AAMI Stradbroke Group 1 H'cap - 1400m
1st – Black Piranha 2nd – Melito 3rd – Mic Mac 4th – Beaded
MIC MAC was examined by the barriers after being fractious when entering the track. The horse was cleared to race.
In the early part of the straight, MIC MAC (S. Scriven) had trouble obtaining a run and to eventually get clear it had to shift out.
GHETTO BLASTER (C. Lindop) left the gates awkwardly.
WHOBEGOTYOU (M. Rodd) was slow to begin.
On jumping, CULMINATE (S. Seamer) shifted ground and bumped LATIN NEWS (C. Newitt). As a consequence of this, some inconvenience was caused to PHELAN READY (S. Katsidis).
At the start, ALBERT THE FAT (D. Browne) and RED LORD (D. Nikolic) were crowded for room between ORTENSIA (C. Williams) and MIC MAC (S. Scriven) when both horses shifted ground. Just after this, RED LORD was steadied and taken across behind the field to a position towards the rear but closer to the rail.
Just after the start, MR BARITONE (J. Ford) and PHELAN READY bumped on several occasions due mainly to LATIN NEWS (C. Newitt) shifting out slightly.
About the 1200m, SHELLSCRAPE (T. Bell) was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of BEADED (K. McEvoy), which shifted across with MIC MAC (S. Scriven).
In the early and middle stages, GHETTO BLASTER pulled hard and raced ungenerously and shifted a lot of ground. As a consequence, inconvenience was caused to RED LORD (D. Nikolic) and MR BARITONE (J. Ford). No action was taken.
RUSSETING (J. Maskell) raced extremely wide.
ALBERT THE FAT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight until a point near the 200m.
CATAPAULTED (L. Nolen), SHELLSCRAPE (T. Bell), PHELAN READY and BLACK PIRANHA raced wide throughout.
Jockey C. Williams explained that before the race his mount was nicely relaxed and went to the gates well. He said that he travelled close to BLACK PIRANHA throughout and considered ORTENSIA was ready to close off strongly, but today after straightening when it was under pressure, ORTENSIA did not respond as he expected she would and was very disappointing over the concluding stages. He did go on to say ORTENSIA felt normal to him on pulling up on return to scale. A post race veterinary examination of ORTENSIA revealed the mare to be slightly lame in the near foreleg and had sustained a laceration to the off fore fetlock.
M. Rodd, rider of WHOBEGOTYOU, stated that he did race in a somewhat crowded room in the early stages, however, in his opinion, this should not have affected the horse’s performance. He added that WHOBEGOTYOU did not stretch out as anticipated and was very disappointing. M. Kavanagh, trainer of WHOBEGOTYOU, said the horse had a long spell after jarring up somewhat last spring, and he said again today the gelding did not appear to stretch out as he expected. A post race veterinary examination of WHOBEGOTYOU revealed the horse to have been stripped on the off hind leg and was sore in the near fore leg. Trainer M. Kavanagh was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for WHOBEGOTYOU prior to its next race start.
Race 8: Sky Racing Queensland 3yo Group 2 Guineas - 1600m

CARRARA (N. Rawiller) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, causing interference to FIFTEEN CARAT (S. Katsidis) and SWISS ROSE (D. Dunn).
UMANUGGET (S. Seamer) left the gates awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with the hind quarters of LAUNAY (K. McEvoy).
TIERQUALO (G. Boss) left the gates awkwardly and shifted in. As a consequence, crowding occurred to its inside, the main sufferers being EVEREADY TO DANCE (H. Bowman), HUS DER LIEFTEN (T. Angland), IRISH DREAM (T. Bell), and to a lesser extent WAR ENDS (M. Rodd). The incident was deemed accidental.
At about the 800m, FIFTEEN CARAT became unbalanced when momentarily crowded by MISS WITH ATTITUDE.
M. Rodd, rider of WAR ENDS, explained that the horse left the gates well, however overraced in the early stages and refused to settle. He said in the straight, when giving ground, WAR ENDS hung in badly and proved difficult to ride out and he had to change the whip into his right hand.
A post race veterinary examination of UMANUGGET revealed the horse to have blood in both nostrils and was coughing. Trainer B. Gentle was advised that the horse would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
