SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
GENERAL
The following horses were late scratching’s at 11.30 a.m. due to no rider being available –:
Race 2 – SUPER STORY, FIFTY CARATS and YELLOWSTONE BETH
Race 1: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1450 metres
SHOALWATER BAY – Shifted out across the heels of THE EIGHTH I AM at the 800 metres to avoid kickback.
GULF OF SIDRA – Raced wide throughout. Apost-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SNIPILLICIOUS – Compounded over the concluding stages after leading and apost-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MONTREUX – Jockey B Newportwas questioned regardingthe riding tactics adopted on the geldingin particular the amount of vigour he displayed over the final 250 metres. Jockey B Newport advised that MONTREUX had got well back in the field and was resenting the kickback in the early and middle stages. He advised that making the home turn he had used the whip on the gelding which at that stage was struggling to make ground. He confirmed that he did not ride the horse out over the final 150 metres and stated that MONTREUX’s run had ended in the early part of the straight. Whilst Stewards confirmed that MONTREUX was having difficulty making ground over the concluding stages, Jockey B Newport was still advised to fully test his mounts in similar circumstances.
Race 2: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1100 metres
SEIRYU – Stood flat footed art the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
CAPITEEL – Raced wide throughout.
FROZEN PRINCE – Raced wide.
FORSETI – Slow to beginand tailed out.
ROCKBARTON RACER - Raced wide.
OHMIKKIUSOFINE - Raced wide. It was noted that Jockey G Walters used the whip on his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres. His attention was drawn to AR132 (7)(a)(ii).
Race 3: Open Handicap 1100 metres
METAL BAR – Difficult to load. Raced three-wide without cover for the majority.
JUST STOP IT – Raced wide.
MR METRICS – Declared a late scratching at 2.47 p.m. when the gelding delayed the start and refused to load. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on MR METRICS was ordered to be refunded with deductions of 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Bookmakerswere ordered to pay 1st 2nd and 3rd on all bets made prior to the scratching. Trainer Ms S Royes was advised that she must obtain a further barrier certificate for MR METRICS prior to its next race start.
ILZOOMYA - Raced three-wide without cover for the majority.
HOTSTEP – Eased extremely wide in the back straight to avoid kickback.
Race 4: Maiden Plate 1200 metres
NOBLE VALOUR – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
TRAPEZE FLYER - Declared a late scratching at 3.25 p.m. when the gelding delayed the start and refused to load. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on TRAPEZE FLYER was ordered to be refunded with deductions of 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Bookmakerswere ordered to pay 1st 2nd on all bets made prior to the scratching. Trainer B Newport was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for TRAPEZE FLYER prior to its next race start.
JIG TIME GAL - Declared a late scratching at 3.28 p.m. when the gelding delayed the start and refused to load. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on JIG TIME GALwas ordered to be refunded with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Bookmakerswere ordered to pay 1st 2nd on all bets made prior to the scratching’s. Trainer P Inwood was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for JIG TIME GAL prior to its next race start.
SPOT ON SOPHIA – Became unbalanced, got its head up in the air and lost ground at the 650 metres.
SEABEE - Slow into stride
Race 5: Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
DREAM HIGH - Raced wide throughout.
THE BOI - Raced wide.
WINDORAH – Hampered in the early stages of the home straight by PROJECT XERO which hung out down the running.
PROJECT XERO – Jumped awkwardly and collided with another runner.Hung out throughout the event.
Jockey Ms A Thomson was questioned as to the reason she made momentary contact with her left hand onto Jockey M Gray’s (WINDORAH) right leg when racing on terms with that runner shortly after passing the 200 metres. After taking evidence from both riders and after viewing the stewards patrol film, the matter has been adjourned until a time and date to be fixed.
ROGUE ‘N’ READY - Raced wide.
VOLDERMART – Checked at the start by PROJECT XERO which jumped out.
