GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 3: 20 YONAKA – A. Sewell +0.5kg (54.5kg)
 
As Jockeys B. Lerena and R. Maloney were not riding due to illness, Stewards permitted the rider change(s) as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockeys B. Lerena and R. Maloney were advised they would require medical clearance prior to resuming.
 
VERY DEMURE (Race 1) was declared a late scratching at 9:36am on veterinary advice due to an elevated temperature.
 
PLANNED ENCOUNTER (NZ) (Race 5) was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 7:28pm due to rubbing both hips enroute to the track.
 
Race 1: SKYRISE SCAFFOLDING QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        1000 M

BENEFITSOFMINE – Raced wide for the majority. After the race it was noted the gelding had lost its near hind plate.
 
JOYFUL CONQUEST – Raced greenly and hung out under pressure in the home straight.
 
NORDIC INVADER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SILVER SPOON – Began awkwardly, shifted in and heavily bumped with DAIQUIRI HILL. Steadied from heels near the 500m.
 
ANGEL'S TRUMPET – Raced wide for the majority.
 
DAIQUIRI HILL – Bumped at the start. Near the 400m, steadied when ON POINT PIXIE (D. Turner) shifted out to secure clear running. Jockey D. Turner was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
DRAGONNE ROUGE – Passing the 600m, improved onto heels and had to be checked whilst racing greenly.
 
ON POINT PIXIE – Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 300m.
 
POWERFUL CROWN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn whilst racing greenly and continued to race greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
SECURE BELL – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: 24/7 ACCESS MAIDEN PLATE         1200 M

DUKE OF LANCASTER – Slow to begin and lost ground.
 
RUBOS – Bumped at the start. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey M. Kennedy recommended to connections a tongue tie to be added to the gelding’s gear.
 
DESERT LEGEND – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with RUBOS.
 
TEELG – Steadied near the 900m when ARABIAN ROSE (T. Brooker) shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Jockey T. Brooker was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
FRENCH RIVIERA – Near the 900m, steadied from the heels of TEELG when that horse was restrained.
 
PEAK MISS – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
DAITANNA – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted in near the 500m and steadied from the heels of CAIRO QUEEN.
 
Race 3: OCEAN VIEWS RESORT MAIDEN HANDICAP         1600 M
 
OUT OF LUCK – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WARNA – Raced wide for the majority. Held up for clear running from the 300m, was then disappointed for a run between INTRUDER and IN SOCIETY near the 200m, and as a result had to be steadied.
 
RUGBY – Connections advised a change of tactics, to lead if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
INTRUDER – Raced wide for the majority.
 
IN SOCIETY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
KISS THE COSMOS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped with NAPA VALLEY.
 
NAPA VALLEY – Bumped at the start. After passing the 300m, inconvenienced when racing to the inside of WARNA which shifted in, and was then obliged to race in restricted room until leaving the 200m.
 
ARTISTIC TOUCH – Underwent a re-saddle upon arrival to the start. Over raced in the early stages and then hung out for the remainder of the event. Raced wide for the majority.
 
YONAKA – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 4: HAYMES BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         1600 M
 
SINGER SARGENT – Slow to begin.
 
CENTRAL PARK – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GOT YOURSELF A GUN – Slow to begin.
 
KENSHIN MARU – Bumped at the start. Apprentice R. Thorburn dropped his nearside rein for a short distance near the 150m.
 
PATTI WAGGIN – Began awkwardly and bumped with KENSHIN MARU.
 
Race 5: DULUX CLASS 1 HANDICAP  1400 M
 
RICH AGAIN – Over raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Inconvenienced near the 200m when NOTACLUEHOWORWHO shifted out. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor stated as the horse was first up from a spell and carrying top weight, he believed these two factors had a bearing on the horse’s finishing effort and that the gelding would take benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of a poor recovery.
 
CRACKENTHORPE (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
MR CALEB – Raced wide for the majority. Near the 150m, checked to avoid the heels of CHANGE THE DEEL which shifted out abruptly when shying away from RICH AGAIN which shifted out at that point.
 
NOTACLUEHOWORWHO – Jockey N. Beriman dropped her whip near the 300m.
 
CHANGE THE DEEL – Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted out abruptly when shying away from RICH AGAIN near the 150m.
 
MISTING – Saddle shifted back shortly after passing the 1200m placing its rider at a disadvantage.
 
TOUCHOFCLASS (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 6: WHATEVER IT TAKES BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1000 M

INVINOVICH – Slow to begin.
 
DARE TO SHARE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as the horse had raced yesterday and was subsequently cleared to start.
 
ZINGALONG – Raced wide for the majority.
 
ISLAND MAGIC – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 7: HIGGINS COATINGS CLASS 3 PLATE         1800 M
 
MAXIE TAP (NZ) – Over raced whilst leading in the early and middle stages.
 
NORTH CHANNEL – Slow to begin. Jockey D. Thornton reported the gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
 
MEDICAL AUTOCRAT – Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance passing the 500m.
 
SACRED BULL (NZ) – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be further forward if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin, was obliged to settle in the second half of the field.
