GENERAL

Stewards took possession of spurs used by Apprentice K Gates while riding in race on today’s program. A statement was taken from Apprentice K Gates and Stewards intend to make further inquiries regarding this gear being approved for use.

Race 1: Fitzpatrick Constructions Maiden Handicap- 1075 metres
1ST JOVIAL JOKE – 2ND COSHO – 3RD JOE KWILA – 4TH STAR OF KINTYRE

Due to an emergency in the locality the Ambulance arrived late on course delaying the event. Race 1 stated at 1.10pm.
JOE KWILA (A Taylor) jumped awkwardly, and raced wide in the early stages.
KWILLAMISSWILLA (M Cant) hung outwards (at approximately 800m turn.)
JOVIAL JOKE (M Cullen) & DASHBOARD (M Barnham) both raced wide for the majority of the event.
Approaching the home turn JOE KWILA( A Taylor) was eased of the heels of DASHBOARD (M Barnham) and shift out to establish clear running.


Race 2: Biloela Dry Cleaners Class 4 Handicap- 1200 metres
1ST GOLD WAR – 2ND SENORINA – 3RD SECOND HAND MAC – 4TH ROCKING MELODY

As the start was effected MEAN MACHINE (M Cant) reared and lost ground

Race 3: Callide Valley Mower Service Class B Handicap- 1400 metres
1ST MINNEAPOLIS – 2ND TIDY TRIM – 3RD JAMDIT – 4TH EXCLUSIVE COMPANY

As Jockey D Whitmore was to be overweight on JAMDIT, Apprentice A Taylor was substituted as the rider. Subsequently, Jockey Whitmore fined $100 for accepting a ride when overweight (AR 120b).
BUSH VENTURE (R Hall) hung out at approximately the 800m and raced wide for the majority of the event.
JAMDIT (A Taylor) raced wide in the early stages.
RUMNCOLA (G Philpot) commenced to yield from approximately the 600 metres was pulled up shortly after passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer F. Smith advised that the gelding would be now be retired, however Stewards placed an embargo on RUMCOLA of a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to RUMNCOLA racing in the future.


Race 4: David Cox Dental Open Handicap- 1400 metres
1ST FIRE HAZARD – 2ND SOBEIT – 3RD KALKIE MISS – 4TH FUHRMIDABLE

Prior to the running of Race 4 Stewards and a delegation of senior jockeys inspected the track after a heavy shower and after doing so the track was deemed safe for racing. Due to the forecast of inclement weather, start times for Races 4 & 5 were brought forward (Approximately 10 minutes).
Prior to the start being effected, SOBEIT (D Philpot) broke through the barriers and on being returned behind barriers was subsequently vetted and cleared to start.
Jockey D Philpot reported SOBEIT was slow into stride and did not muster any early pace.
CALYPSO MOON (A Coome) & HOT FLUSHES (M Cant) were both slow into stride and raced wide for the majority of the event.
FUHRMIDABLE ( F Freihaut) was disappointed for a run early in the straight.


Race 5: BB’s Café Class 2 Handicap- 800 metres
1ST LORD ALISTAIR – 2ND NINEDAYFORTNIGHT – 3RD NEVACANTEL – 4TH BARTALI

RED SEA (A Taylor) was slow to begin.
DANE RHYTHM (M Cant) jumped out on jumping and made contact with NINEDAYFORTNIGHT (M Cullen) which became unbalanced for a short distance.
EXALTED MOLLIE (A Coome) was disappointed for a run early in the straight.
Jockey A. Coome was afforded the opportunity to explain the performance of EXALTED MOLLIE. Jockey Coome stated that the mare did not begin as well as he expected and he placed EXALTED MOLLIE under pressure in an endeavour to take up a forward position. He said that the horse was dour in running and he was disappointed with the manner in which it finished off the race. Jockey Coome added that he had suggested to connections that the horse be spelled. Trainer D. Stafford stated that he would send EXALTED MOLLIE for an immediate spell.
