“She’s not eligible for the QTIS Jewel but for her owner who bred her, it’s all about getting black-type,” Schweida said.
“She’ll have a week or two off now and get ready for the winter carnival.”
Sunrays had to give away a lot of weight to her rivals and looked in trouble when forced wide before the home turn.
She eventually broke away and kicked clear but not without giving Schweida some moments of concern.
“It was a messy race and I don’t know what happened at the start to Rob Heathcote’s horse (Carbonara),” Schweida said.
“It was a bit sick watching her as she was giving away four and five kilos and was caught wide.”
