Applications open for independent Racing Appeals Panel

Applications for positions on the new Racing Appeals Panel are now open.

Established under the Racing Integrity Amendment Act 2022, the Panel will hear and decide applications for review of a racing decision of a steward.

Functions of the Panel will include:

• Finalising review applications within prescribed timeframes; and
• Ensuring racing decisions are made in accordance with the law and the Rules of Racing to maintain the integrity of the racing industry in Queensland.

Expressions are being sought for the appointment of Deputy Chairpersons and Panel Members for the Panel, who have:

• Demonstrated high-level knowledge and understanding of the racing industry;

• Proven ability to properly exercise sound judgment and effective and timely decision-making;

• Ability to maintain impartiality and independence to promote the integrity of the racing industry.

To be eligible for appointment, the person must demonstrate professional experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Chemistry relating to animals;
• Law;
• Racing; and
• Veterinary science.
