Form Analysis: Albion Park 21 August 2018 :: Racing Queensland Darren Clayton provides selections, suggested bets and speed maps for Albion Park Home News 2018 August Form Analysis: Albion Park Aug 21 21 August 2018 RACE TWO TOO GOOD FOR YOU (10) has no favours from this alley but he is racing in good touch and might just be able to get around them cheaply in the early stages. Last start from the breeze he fought hard all the way and only went under a neck behind the passing lane winner REGAL ROCK. Is up to this. MAYWYN A JUG ORTWO (6) is on debut for trainer Kelli Dawson and is a gelding by We Will See. Ranking as a half-brother to the talented 18-time winner Maywyn Tonz, he has trialled in good order for his debut and cant be taken lightly despite the tough alley. THANKHEAVNFORGIRLS (4) hasn’t shown much at her past 3 starts when chasing. Her run 4 back when able to lead was a better effort and with the lead looking available she can be an improver. IMPETUOSO (9) wasn’t suited last start when he was snagged back from a wide gate and just found himself too far back. That was his 1st Qld start and settling closer here has exotic hopes. SELECTIONS: TOO GOOD FOR YOU (10), MAYWYN A JUG ORTWO (6), THANKHEAVNFORGIRLS (4), IMPETUOSO (9) SUGGESTED BET: TOO GOOD FOR YOU (10) to win RACE THREE FORTYFIVE ROCK (3) was sent to the post as fav last week from gate 1 and soon found himself buried away 3 back when 4th behind the smart looking winner AT RANDOM. Only beaten 3m from the pocket trail here 3 back, he looks to get his chance to break the maiden status in this. SHIMANSHYNE (1) has shown gradual progression through the term and last start caught the eye when working in the run and not beaten far behind MOLLYS SECRET at Redcliffe. With good early speed, she can hustle through and if not pressured might just be able to sneak away with this. RANCHO MAN (6) pressed on from gate 7 last time out to find the pegs and fought hard in holding on for the silver behind AT RANDOM. That was a sharper effort and if sent forward again will fight. RUM AND SCHOTZ (4) held on for 3rd last start, albeit when 32m from the winner after the leading pair broke clear. With even luck in the run he can find the podium again. SELECTIONS: FORTYFIVE ROCK (3), SHIMANSHYNE (1), RANCHO MAN (6), RUM AND SCHOTZ (4) SUGGESTED BET: RACE FOUR PROFICIENT (2) was returning from a freshen last time out when taking on a 2040m event at Redcliffe. Having a look for the front he couldn’t get across and was forced to snag back to find position and that ended his chances. He can look to force the issue here and controlling will be hard to stop. RARING TO GO (1) lands his best gate for some time and with good early speed can look to maintain the inside advantage before releasing which he did last time he started from this alley. With the cosy trip he can hold on for a minor. THE MUSE (5) has faced tough gates at her past 2 starts and still returned tidy efforts. Last start from gate 7 she went back and was never a factor behind the smart SLICE OF HEAVEN. Improver here. GERONIMO BEAU (6) chased hard to claim the silver 2 starts back behind ZARAS DELIGHT after dropping to the pegs. He can look for the short-cuts again and chime in late. SELECTIONS: PROFICIENT (2), RARING TO GO (1), THE MUSE (5), GERONIMO BEAU (6) SUGGESTED BET: PROFICIENT (2) to win RACE FIVE TUESDAYS FELLA (3) is still probing for an opening at Redcliffe after finding dead-ends everywhere he went. Returning from a break 2 starts back he was settled a long way back and attacked the line strongly to get within a neck of the winner. From this gate he can look to fire the first shot. LAUGHING EMOJI (7) shoots for the hat-trick after wins from the mile and 2138m starts in successive runs. Once in front from gate 1 last start she was able to control the speed and ripping home a 27.6 closer was never in danger. The gate hurts this time but she can’t be ignored. MAYWYNS COURAGE (10) returns from a spell and steps out for the Kelli Dawson barn for the first time. Showing plenty of talent that has been matched by the amount of issues, if he gets it right, he can throw down the challenge. HIGH ON MONTANA (6) aims up for the hat-trick after successive wins at Marburg and Redcliffe. Last start he swooped home from back in the pack to a good win and will be looking for a ride home. SELECTIONS: TUESDAYS FELLA (3), LAUGHING EMOJI (7), MAYWYNS COURAGE (10), HIGH ON MONTANA (6) SUGGESTED BET: TUESDAYS FELLA (3) to win RACE SIX LILAC FLASH (10) has really hit his straps and arrived for the hat-trick last start. Looking to be hopelessly locked away last week, Kylie Rasmussen weaved a passage to find clear air and exploded into stride in the stretch to arrive on the line to score. He looks a smart customer and can win again. ARGYLE BEACH (8) was 1st up form a freshen last start and from the 2nd line was working into the race and looked to have done enough until LILAC FLASH arrived from the clouds to grab her on the line. Needing plenty of luck from this alley as she looks to be buried in the run, she will be probing. NIKALONG HENRY (2) was buried away on the pegs from inside the 2nd line on Sat night and closed out in good order behind OUR CHITTYBANGBANG. Taking an early shot, he is right in the mix. LENNY THE LEGEND (5) has been given a let-up since last seen when making good closing ground to grab the bronze and beaten 9m. He met the smart SLICE OF HEAVEN his previous 2 and swoop late. SELECTIONS: LILAC FLASH (10), ARGYLE BEACH (8), NIKALONG HENRY (2), LENNY THE LEGEND (5) SUGGESTED BET: LILAC FLASH (10) to win RACE SEVEN COREY WILLIAM (9) returned from a spell in good style here last week when forcing the issue and pressing to the front from gate 4. Once in control he was able to hold on through a 28.1 closing split to score. Without a trial for his return, he will be tightened and despite the 2nd line can take this. PINUP BOY (4) gets back to the mile which should be to his advantage after taking on the 2138m at his past 2 starts. Last time from gate 7 he wen back and was hitting the line in good order to be 3m from the winner SPRING CAMPAIGN. He can issue a challenge. SPRING CAMPAIGN (8) was impressive at his Aus debut here last week when working hard in the run and forging clear for a tough win. He will need some luck from this gate yet can’t be dismissed. GOOD BOY OLIVER (2) has good early speed and from this gate can fire the 1st shot to look for the pegs. Run down after leading them up his past 2, he will be gripping on again here. SELECTIONS: COREY WILLIAM (9), PINUP BOY (4), SPRING CAMPAIGN (8), GOOD BOY OLIVER (2) SUGGESTED BET: COREY WILLIAM (9) to win RACE EIGHT PHANTOM ROCKSTAR (4) has started to find his rhythm and last start was hitting the line in good order to claim the bronze. 2 back at Redcliffe he went under a half-neck after the run didn’t come when needed. In a wide-open contest, he can settle handy and be right in the fight. DIVAS DELIGHT (9) worked hard in the run last start when fighting hard and only beaten 3m behind SWEET AS. Only 9m from the talented MISS GRACELAND the start prior when starting from gate 6, he will be looking to trail through early. Not far away in recent starts, he will be hoping to end a 2 year winless streak. BET IM SPECIAL (8) will be sweating on the 1 looking to take them all the way and if that scenario eventuates, he will be coiled and ready to strike. Finishing 2m from LUCKY VOODOO on Sta night from the pocket trail, he can go close again. OHOKA SQUIRE (1) finished 5m from the winner ALPHA STYX here 4 starts back when starting from this same gate and finding himself shuffled 3 back. Not suited his past 3, he will be hustling hard to protect the pegs. SELECTIONS: PHANTOM ROCKSTAR (4), DIVAS DELIGHT (9), BET IM SPECIAL (8), OHOKA SQUIRE (1) SUGGESTED BET: PHANTOM ROCKSTAR (4) each-way RACE NINE IM NORMA JEAN (3) will strip fitter following 2 runs back from a break and from this alley can look to use her early speed to find the pegs. Buried in the run last start from gate 1, she chased home in good order. With a class edge on her opponents here, she looks to get her chance for another win. BETTING BARON (1) started from the ace at Redcliffe 3 starts back and was fired up, causing a false start the 1st time and then striking trouble on the 2nd attempt and losing all chance. With good early speed he can protect early and be an improver from the alley in this line-up. FAMOUS SHOES (8) made the most of gate 1 at Redcliffe last start and took them all the way to hold on by a head. With the cosy trip against the markers, he will be looking for the openings. HAVETOGETAWAYMORE (9) can look to drop to the pegs early here if available and go luck hunting for inside gaps. Finishing best along the passing lane to score last start she will be probing. SELECTIONS: IM NORMA JEAN (3), BETTING BARON (1), FAMOUS SHOES (8), HAVETOGETAWAYMORE (9) SUGGESTED BET: IM NORMA JEAN (3) to win RACE ONE CANDYFLOSS (2) is building into her season and has been able to place in 3 of 5 starts. Last time out at Redcliffe she hit the line in good order to be 5m from the winner MOLLYS SECRET. From this alley she can drop down for a cosy trip and look to finish over the top. BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5) has been runner-up in his only 2 appearances where he has been run-down when looking to leas all the way each time. Starting in red figures last start he was worried out of it by VALIANT GEM and he can go close again in this line-up. MAKINMEFEELGOOD (6) held on to 4th last start after following the markers behind the big winner MUSCLE FACTORY. The wide gate hurts but with further experience and this much easier, he can feature. BOULDER CITY (4) found the pegs before releasing last start and held on for the bronze. The most experienced of the field but still searching for an elusive win, he will be thereabouts. SELECTIONS: CANDYFLOSS (2), BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5), MAKINMEFEELGOOD (6), BOULDER CITY (4) SUGGESTED BET: CANDYFLOSS (2) to win Previous Emerald Jockey Club Inc Surat Diggers' Race Club Stamford Race Club Goondiwindi & McIntyre Picnic Race Club Inc Ipswich Turf Club Dalby & Northern Downs Jockey Club Morven Race Club Nanango Race Club Albion Park Harness Racing Club Gympie Turf Club Mackay Turf Club Thangool Race Club Inc Tambo & District Race Club Inc Maxwelton Race Club Queensland Greyhound Racing Club Bowen Turf Club Next

Big Weekend Adds To Record Season :: Racing Queensland It was a great weekend for Darrel Graham. But overall, it’s been a great year for his stable. Home News 2018 August Big Weekend Adds To Record Season 20 August 2018 It was a great weekend for Darrel Graham. But overall, it’s been a great year for his stable. The Fernvale horseman landed winners at each of the three meeting staged in the South East; Albion Park on Friday afternoon followed by Kilcoy on Saturday afternoon before backing up at Albion Park later that night. His winners came via Regal Rock, Franco Totem and Springbank Eden. A mixture of pacers and a trotter. Graham is a great supporter of grass track racing and provided plenty of support for the Kilcoy meeting with eight runners for the three events staged. When Franco Totem scored, he led home a first four result for the stable with Ruffalo, Tact Ollie and Itz Pleasurable filling the placings behind him. And it was the same again in the following race, My Mastercraftsman is prepared by Graham’s foreman Adam Sanderson, the talented performer defeated the Graham trained trio of Rory Mach, Mafuta Vautin and Drive The Dream. A quasi result for the Fernvale stable. “We had some luck and got some good results at Kilcoy, it’s always a great day and it’s something different for both horse and driver. It works really well in New Zealand and it’s a different spectacle compared to the traditional way of racing.” Graham said. The victories across the weekend have added to what is the best season for the respected horseman, his tally now sits at 143. Only Grant Dixon has prepared more winners in his home state while he is fourth in the national premiership race with Emma Stewart, Dixon and Kerryann Turner having prepared more winners. While Graham has driven more than 2000 winners, his training results have been equally impressive. Prior to the current term, his hauls have netted him figures of 107, 89, 125, 122 and 131. His best season came during the 2012/13 season before easily eclipsing that mark this year. With time ticking on the current season, can he break into the 150’s? “We’re close now so we’ll give it a go, it would be a major effort to train over 150 winners and there are a lot of people that have played a significant role in that success. You can’t achieve figures like this on your own so I’d like to thank everyone for their help. “Obviously my wife Linda and two daughters Brittany and Stephanie plus Adam (Sanderson) and Jacob (Wallace) have been the backstop; it’s really a team effort with the help of Fev and Dougie. “And the owners have been great too, Dean (Shannon), Jodie (Scott) and Adam (Sofoulis) among many others. As we know, without owners we have no industry.” And he capped his weekend by heading to the EKKA (Royal Queensland Show) with his family watching the trotting action on display. Darrel Graham has trained 2505 winners throughout his career to date. Can Dixon Crack Triple Figures? :: Racing Queensland With 12 days of the current season remaining, a question needs to be asked. Can Grant Dixon crack the 300 mark? Home News 2018 August Can Dixon Crack the magic 300? 20 August 2018 With 12 days of the current season remaining, a question needs to be asked. Can Grant Dixon crack the 300 mark? As it stands, no trainer in Australian harness racing history has ever prepared more than 300 winners in a single season but that record is under immense pressure. Ironically, the current training record belongs to W.F Dixon, Grant’s father Bill, who prepared 299 winners during the 2010/11 season. But both Emma Stewart and Grant himself are rapidly closing in on that magical and somewhat mythical figure of 300, the Victorian based Stewart has trained 286 winners while Dixon has a tally of 284. Extraordinary numbers indeed. During the current term, harness fans and historians have witnessed champion reinsman Chris Alford break the record for most wins in a single season with his tally currently at 434 and still climbing. The previous mark belonged to Daryl Douglas at 388. Fair to say, the 2017/18 season has been a season of record breaking achievements. For Dixon, this current season will be his best as he will eclipse the mark he set last term when he prepared 286 winners. Since taking over from his father Bill at the commencement of the 2011/12 season, Grant has trained in excess over 200 winners every year since with figures of 265, 226, 260, 282, 246 and 286. During that time frame, Dixon has been the leading state trainer plus the leading trainer in the country! In fact, the Dixon name has sat atop of the National Premiership since the 2007/08 season. And during that reign, over 200 winners have been churned out each and every season. In the next 12 days, Dixon has 9 meetings in his home state while he will also compete at the Breeders Crown meeting at TABCORP Park, Melton this Saturday night. But he isn’t represented at tomorrow’s meeting at Albion Park while he has three runners engaged at Redcliffe on Wednesday night. And more are expected later this week. So, can he do it? Only time will tell but it’s quite remarkable given Queensland races only five times a week while the odd extra meeting is added here and there but most times the Dixon is not represented at those additional meetings. Many other states race seven days a week while at times, they stage 2 meetings per day. Bottom line, the Dixon numbers are very impressive. On nine occasions, he has prepared 5 or more winners at a meeting. And he’s achieved that feat on three occasions this season, twice at Albion Park (11/11/17 & 12/5/18) and once at Redcliffe (4/4/18). His best effort was 6 winners at a Gold Coast meeting back on June 14, 2013. The watch is on and time is ticking. Apprentices rule at Yeppoon meeting :: Racing Queensland The latest news from all around Queensland Racing. Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound news, interviews and profiles from around the state. Home News 2018 August Apprentices rule at popular Yeppoon meeting 21 August 2018 By Tony McMahon The Yeppoon Turf Club completed the “big trifecta” of successful Capricornia country race meetings last Saturday with a huge turnout of over 2000 racegoers at picturesque Keppel Park racecourse. This followed massive crowds attending over the two previous Saturdays at the Middlemount Cup races on August 4 and at Ferguson Park racecourse Gladstone for the Cup meeting there on August 11. Coastal racegoers packed the parkland facilities at Keppel Park which were filled with marquees while interesting spectators along the perimeter of the infield lake included curious pelicans and an assortment of bird life. It was somewhat eerie actually as just after 3pm when the crowd had broken into spontaneous applause after Winx had recorded a record 26 consecutive wins some 1447km away at Randwick, as if on cue, the birdlife took to the air. Rarely these days do race crowds become so animated and vociferous in their applause about a horse race, so it was a sight to behold and hear at Keppel Park. Once again apprentice jockeys claimed the riding honours with Lachlan Dodds snaring a double (Ararrac and Plain’N’Simple) with Thomas Doyle (Rockethead - $3.00) and Elyce Smith (Quadacus -$3.00) thus winning the first four races. It was left to South-East Queensland jockey, the gentlemanly David Hayse to restore some pride to the senior ranks by winning the last race, the Class B (1400m) on the John O’Sing trained Top Echelon gelding Scutari ($5.00). The common thread woven by all winners was that they either led in their races or were placed very close right-up on the speed on a day when backmarkers rarely made ground on the fast track rated a Good 3. Ararrac ($5.00) named after his sire Carrara spelt backwards, set the leaders trend with an all-the-way win in the opener, the Class 2 Plate (950m) for former top Yeppoon trainer but now hobby mentor Allan Jenkinson. Formerly based at Keppel Park from where he operated a big string of horses for about 25 years, these days Jenkinson trains his two horses at another location at Yeppoon. “I work my horses on the best track of them all – the beach”, he divulged after attending to Ararrac with his wife Christine with whom he raced the winner’s mother Red Testa. Lachlan Dodds provided another superbly paced-judged front running ride when he delivered Rockhampton mentor Julieann Lancaster’s game little Casino Prince gelding Plain’N’Simple to the finish first in the Benchmark 55 (1800m). Turned-out in fine fettle by Julieann, Plain’N’Simple whose looks and zest for racing defies his age of eight years, was backing-up just four days after being beaten in a photo-finish for first over the same distance at Mackay. “You have to just love him. The little fella just tries his heart out”, the excited trainer said. Tough with a capital “T’’ perfectly described Mackay trainer John Manzelmann’s Warhead filly Rockethead (Thomas Doyle) who collected $9800 for winning the QTIS 3YO Maiden (950m). Rockethead was runner-up at Middlemount on August 4 before being third placed at Cairns on the following Saturday, August 11. Which means Rockethead had been floated 2300km in the fortnight preceding her Yeppoon win which amounted to about 25 hours in float transit – yes, she like most of the marauding Manzelmann trained horses are indeed tough! John Manzelmann was represented by Jade Doolan at Keppel Park as 960km north he prepared a winning double at Prairie races while he had no luck with his five starters at the corresponding Innisfail races on Saturday. The family and friends of leading Rockhampton apprentice jockey Elyce Smith were on hand en masse to cheer home her winner Quadacus prepared by her father Frederick. The win was the icing on the cake for a pre-birthday celebration at Yeppoon on Saturday night for Elyce’s 21st birthday which falls today. MONDAY The Maiden (1200m) win wasn’t without drama as it wasn’t official until a protest by close second placegetter Twist Edgeroi (John Stephens) was denied by stewards. The Yeppoon Turf Club now has a break until it’s next race meeting at Keppel Park on Victoria Derby Day on Saturday, November 3. Form Analysis: Redcliffe Aug 22 :: Racing Queensland The latest news from all around Queensland Racing. Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound news, interviews and profiles from around the state. Home News 2018 August Form Analysis: Redcliffe Aug 22 22 August 2018 RACE TWO THE NEXT STAR (2) circled them early from the 2nd line last start and did her share of work in the run when fighting on to hols the silver behind PRECIOUS CULLEN. A passing lane winner 4 starts back, this is her best gate for some time and she looks to get her chance. OLIVER WINKLE (10) was game in defeat last start when working hard in the run and only faded the closing stages behind LILAC FLASH. Meeting some handy performers in recent starts, he can look to get around them and issue a strong challenge. REAL KNUCKY (7) has placed at his past 3 starts, the latest when 3m from HOT DOGMA after using the passing lane. He looks set to get a cosy trip here and will be probing for the run. MISS CATALINA (1) has been campaigning at the EKKA with 3 placings in her 3 events over the week. Back to mobile conditions and a cosy run in transit, she can look to take a closing shot. SELECTIONS: THE NEXT STAR (2), OLIVER WINKLE (10), REAL KNUCKY (7), MISS CATALINA (1) SUGGESTED BET: THE NEXT STAR (2) to win RACE THREE LETHAL PROMISE (10) lands the tricky gate, but he has been a consistent performer around the triangle in recent starts with a top 3 finish at 13 of his past 14 outings. Last week he did all the heavy lifting outside the leader when beaten 2m. Runner-up his past 3, he can go one better this time. WEBBY VANDERQUACK (1) took out the big Show final at the EKKA on Sunday when stepping cleanly and pushing to the front and then holding them all out. From the gate she will get a great trip and be ready to issue the closing challenge when the gaps open. MAHALO (9) worked ahead from the 2nd line and found the pocket trail here 2 back which was the winning move. Beaten 6m behind DAPPER last start, she can look for a ride home to place. UNASSUMING CHAMP (3) will find this harder than his past few but he is in good touch. Last start he took them all the way from gate 2 in good style and with good early speed will be gripping on. SELECTIONS: LETHAL PROMISE (10), WEBBY VANDERQUACK (1), MAHALO (9), UNASSUMING CHAMP (3) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-9-10 RACE FOUR FUI FUI (2) has good early speed and can look to fire the first shot here. His run 3 starts back had merit from the running line behind TOOK YOUR TIME and last start from gate 4 was snagged back and hit the line in good style. In an open contest he can look to make his own luck. DIXIE TRIX (7) is at the other end of the spectrum in that she will need her share of luck and things to go her way. Her past 2 starts have been in mares qualifiers behind GRINVIL and DARKERSHADEOFPALE. If she can spot an opening with track to work with she can swoop. REDDY FIRE (6) has the tough gate to overcome, but this is type of race he could throw down a strong challenge. Too strong from the 2nd line 3 starts back, he is more suited in this than his past 2 starts. LATIN BEATS (5) was a winner from this same gate 2 starts back when working home wide off the track. Too far back last start, with the right cart into the contest she can fill a podium spot. SELECTIONS: FUI FUI (2), DIXIE TRIX (7), REDDY FIRE (6), LATIN BEATS (5) SUGGESTED BET: RACE FIVE OUR PEPPERJACK (2) was in a much stronger contest last start at AP when hitting the line in good order and only 9m from the winner LILAC FLASH. That followed a tough run when sent to the breeze off the 2nd line and only beaten 4m. From the gate he looks to get his chance. INCITER (9) has the tough gate to negotiate yet he is never far away in these type of races. Sent to the breeze from gate 9 last start he worked in the run and went down fighting behind DAPPER. That followed a Marburg win and he won’t be far away again here. THE DREAM MAKER (4) started from gate 10 last start and worked home strongly wide off the track to get within a head of the winner. A winner 3 starts ago, she is a threat from the front line. ARBIT MAJOR (8) did some early work last start when looking to press forward to find position and battled on well. From this gate he can trail through early and can press for a spot in the exotics. SELECTIONS: OUR PEPPERJACK (2), INCITER (9), THE DREAM MAKER (4), ARBIT MAJOR (8) SUGGESTED BET: OUR PEPPERJACK (2) to win RACE SIX MODERN THOUGHT (7) started from gate 5 last start and was wide early trying to find position before snagging back. From the pocket trail here 4 starts back she went within 4m of the winner. While she will need some luck and factors in her favour, this is wide open and she is worth a dabble. WECANONLYHOPE (9) worked home in good order here last week after being buried back along the pegs. Her run 2 back was a tidy effort behind THE FLOYD and with a pair of show wins from the tapes on Saturday, she has podium claims. FLASHING GOOD TIME (5) dropped to the pegs here last start and chased home in good order to claim the bronze and only 2m from the winner. With even luck from the wide gate she can feature. CHEYENNE WARRIOR (4) found his race last start and after finding the 1x1 trail was able to work home over the top to score. With the confidence of that win he is in the mix once again. SELECTIONS: MODERN THOUGHT (7), WECANONLYHOPE (9), FLASHING GOOD TIME (5), CHEYENNE WARRIOR (4) SUGGESTED BET: MODERN THOUGHT (7) each-way RACE SEVEN WILLSINTOWN (2) did some early work last start from gate 3 before finding cover and running home in good order to finish 6m from the winner. A passing lane winner here 4 starts back, he has the early speed to find the pegs and can cash-in here. FORTES IN FIDES (3) was responsible for a big effort last start after he went off stride after being chopped off in the turn to the back straight. Re-setting the effort was strong to get within 5m of the winner. He can do some work and from this gate he will be right in the fight. ONYA DOUG (4) didn’t have much luck last start from a wide gate and was taken back from gate 5. He has struck some wide gates in recent starts and with even luck can chime in here. ARCH EMPRESS (8) has been in the money at her past 3 starts with her latest effort when only beaten a head when using the passing lane. Trailing through early, she has place claims. SELECTIONS: WILLSINTOWN (2), FORTES IN FIDES (3), ONYA DOUG (4), ARCH EMPRESS (8) SUGGESTED BET: WILLSINTOWN (2) to win RACE EIGHT ZED EXPRESS (2) started from the 2nd line last start and was hitting the line in good order to grab the bronze. That followed a tidy effort from gate 4 behind MINI MIRACLE and with his best gate for some time, he can look to take full advantage and looks to get every chance to score. KIWI SOLDIER (9) led them up over the AP mile 2 starts back and led them deep into the stretch when collared late and finishing 4m from the winner. Last start he was off his game when trying to lead throughout and fading out. Sharpened with a trial, he can feature in this line-up. DALLAS COWGIRL (1) will get the benefit of the inside running here and taking cover can get the cosy trip. Holding on for 3rd here 3 starts back she can land a placing again in this. DEADSET COURAGEOUS (5) has the wide gate to overcome but strikes a wide-open race. Angled to the pegs to look for luck last start, he has rough claims. SELECTIONS: ZED EXPRESS (2), KIWI SOLDIER (9), DALLAS COWGIRL (1), DEADSET COURAGEOUS (5) SUGGESTED BET: ZED EXPRESS (2) to win RACE NINE MUSCULUS (2) makes his Aus debut without a trial and arrives with solid NZ form. Only narrowly beaten at Addington 2 starts back over the 2600m stand, his last start was in the Jewels when down the line behind the smart HABIBI INTA. If he handles the triangle he should be far too smart. REDRIVERDEBBA (5) is also making her 1st appearance in Qld and will be 1st up since the Vicbred 4YO mares final where she found the line in good order behind KINVARA SUE. Coming into this without a trial, she may just need the run, yet can’t be ignored. DAY TOURER (3) has good early speed from the mobile and can look to find early position from the gate. He worked home well off 40m last start and won’t be far away here. NORTHERN MUSCLE (6) made a mess of the start from the tapes last time out and didn’t want to participate. His previous run was a solid effort when 2nd to GHENT and with a win and a 2nd from 3 appearances at the triangle, can chime in here. SELECTIONS: MUSCULUS (2), REDRIVERDEBBA (5), DAY TOURER (3), NORTHERN MUSCLE (6) SUGGESTED BET: RACE ONE PRECIOUS CULLEN (1) has been in great touch with wins at 4 of his past 5 starts all here on the triangle. Last start he was sent forward from gate 4 over the 2040m and once in control was able to hold them all off. His only miss was from gate 6 and working hard in the run. He can dictate here. MO JARNEY (7) started to find some rhythm and has been top 2 at his past 4. Freshened since his last start when grabbed in the closing stages after looking to take them all the way, he will get the perfect trip here and be ready to take the closing shot. Thompson Claims Fifth Cairns Cup On We Just Love It :: Racing Queensland A signature ride from Robert Thompson has delivered the veteran Newcastle jockey his fifth Cairns Cup on the Janel Ryan-trained We Just Love It at Cannon Park on Saturday. Home News 2018 August Thompson claims fifth Cairns Cup on We Just Love it 11 August 2018 By Glenn Davis A signature ride from Robert Thompson has delivered the veteran Newcastle jockey his fifth Cairns Cup on the Janel Ryan-trained We Just Love It at Cannon Park on Saturday. We Just Love came from worse than midfield halfway through the 2100-metre far north Queensland feature to nail Multifacets on the line. The margin was only a short half head with Townsville Cup winner Lady Skills, a further 1-1/4 lengths away, third. Thomson is a regular visitor each year for the north Queensland carnival and won his first Cairns Cup in 2012. He later was successful aboard Seafight (2013), Richie Rocket (2015) and Chivadahllii last year. Thomson said he was uncertain if We Just Love It had got up in the last bound and paid tribute to Ryan and her husband Ron. “I didn’t know if I had won but deep down I thought I just got there,” Thompson said. “Ron and I planned this 12 months ago on Cairns Amateur Day last year and everything has come off perfectly.” Janel Ryan has made a big name for herself in the north but it hasn't come without a lot of hard work over many years. Born in the United States, Ryan arrived in Queensland 32 years ago and spent more than 11 years living in Cairns before moving to Tolga on the Atherton Tablelands. “This is my third Cairns Cup win and it’s been a whole year in the making,” Ryan said. “It’s a relief to bring it to reality.” Ryan won her first Cairns Cup with Pretty Fox in 2001 before claiming her second with Seafight five years ago. Earlier Mareeba sprinter Hidden In Heaven stormed home down the centre of the track to claim the Lightning Handicap. Ridden by Rhiannon Payne, Hidden In Heaven overcame a wide passage from a wide draw to edge out Confronting by a head over the 950-metre dash. Platinum Tycoon was third, a further half neck away. Payne paid tribute to trainer Leanne Ashford. “She (Ashford) had her on song today but the mare was a bit moody going to the gates and behind the barriers,” she said. “It’s only 950 metres and one turn and the going was better out wide. “I just had to keep her balanced.” Payne said she was relieved to win one of the feature races on Cairns Cup day. “I’ve had a bit of bad luck lately with placings after placings after placings,” she said. Hidden In Heaven, a daughter of Hidden Dragon, has done all her racing with Ashford and took her record to seven wins from 22 starts. Divine Unicorn launches Hong Kong campaign :: Racing Queensland Promising stayer Divine Unicorn will launch his bid to head overseas for the big Hong Kong international race day at Sha Tin in December when the import makes his comeback at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday. Home News 2018 August Divine Unicorn launches Hong Kong campaign 22 August 2018 By Glenn Davis Promising stayer Divine Unicorn will launch his bid to head overseas for the big Hong Kong international race day at Sha Tin in December when the import makes his comeback at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday. Divine Unicorn steps out for the first time since claiming the Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup (2200m) at Doomben in June in the Maroochy Surf Club Open Handicap (1400m). The Tattersall’s Cup was Divine Unicorn’s first start over a middle distance and was a quantum leap after his placing behind Hopfgarten in the Listed Wayne Wilson (1600m) at Doomben two weeks earlier. Divine Unicorn was bred in Europe with the intention of racing in Hong Kong but his owner, who lives in Hong Kong, decided to campaign him in Australia first to help him acclimatise. Dunn is pleased with Divine Unicorn following his break and expects the five-year-old to be competitive. The son of Lope De Vega has an impressive first-up record with two wins and a second from three attempts. “He had a trial over 1000 metres at the Gold Coast a few weeks ago and he went well behind Big Tree and Tom Melbourne,” Dunn said. “The trial was good enough for a first-up run over 1400m.” Divine Unicorn has won four of his eight starts and the only time he missed a place was when he finished fourth in a Highway race at Rosehill in December. Jim Byrne, who was successful aboard Divine Unicorn in the Tatt’s Cup, retains the ride after making the trip from Brisbane to ride him in his Gold Coast barrier trial. Dunn has a big opinion of Divine Unicorn and plans to send him to Melbourne for the spring in a bid to improve his rating for Hong Kong. “He should run well Saturday but he’s proven in the past he doesn’t show his best until he gets up to a distance,” Dunn said. “After this run he’ll go to Melbourne for a 1600-metre race at Moonee Valley in two weeks.” Divine Unicorn will then proceed to the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on September 22 and the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 6. His main mission is the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) two weeks later. All going well he’ll then head overseas for the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin on December 10. Tzouvelis welcomes travel ahead of Nationals :: Racing Queensland The latest news from all around Queensland Racing. Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound news, interviews and profiles from around the state. Home News 2018 August Tzouvelis welcomes travel ahead of National Final Debut 22 August 2018 By Isaac Murphy Tommy Tzouvelis finally suits up his first runner in a National Final with Maurice Minor contesting the sprint on Friday night and the in-form trainer couldn’t be happier with his charge's chances ahead of the big dance. Maurice Minor is installed as an $8 chance with UBET and will have to overcome a middle draw to upset joint $3 favourites in New South Wales’ Sky Wave (Box 7) and Victorian local Big Flood (Box 2) to hold the title as Australia’s best sprinter. Following Maurice Minor’s State Final win on August 9, Tzouvelis has been careful in providing the best lead up possible for his sprinter. He started with a short course trial at Albion last week, followed by a quiet week without a trial in Melbourne due to strong prior performances at the track. “I trialled him last Thursday and he went half a length off the track record over the 395 metres, which is a little bit short for him but it was just a good hit out,” Tzouvelis said “We actually just arrived down in Melbourne this morning (August 22) so we’ve got a couple of days to settle in before the race, he’s had a good week we can’t complain. “We’ve just got to hope he can get everything right on the night, because he’s feeling good and going the best that we can get him and he’s travelled perfect on the flight.” Tzouvelis conceded he would have much rather drawn inside of Maurice Minor’s five box, but said his dog had the versatility to overcome the draw. “The box draw is not ideal but as I spoke about a couple of weeks ago he’s had a lot of middle draws to where he’s almost grown accustomed to them,” he said. “If he can come out like he did at Albion in the state final they’ll know he’s in the race because he’s as quick as any dog in the race, it’s just a matter of stepping and getting a clear run.” Tzouvelis dogs have been prolific contenders in group finals but Maurice Minor gives him his first runner in a National Final. The trainer is doing his best to treat it like any other race. “We’ve been lucky in making a lot of group finals lately, so I knew we were close, I’m just trying to keep it business as usual till the race and if we happen to win it that’d be a bonus,” he said. Tzouvelis said he was just happy to have his dog fit and well for the Final as wasn’t looking too far down the track. “We haven’t looked past this race, it’s obviously a pretty big one so we’ll just see how he is,” he said. “At the end of the day they’re not machines, like any athlete they can get their little niggles or problems so we’re always about his health first.” In a further boost to the Tzouvelis kennel both Soft Sand and Loch Freddie qualified for next Tuesday's Townsville Cup Final. “We got two through to the Townsville Cup, Soft Sand ran second and Loch Freddie won a heat,” Tzouvelis said. “I was really happy with both of their performances, they drew a bit awkward in the final in the three and five, but we’ve got two chances in eight of winning it. “It was their first look at the track, both of them so they’ll only improve after having a hitout.” Tzouvelis is a busy man at the moment, but he’s not complaining. “We get home from Melbourne on Saturday and head straight up to Townsville, it’s a lot of travel but not a bad problem to have," he said. Rockhampton Preview: August 23 :: Racing Queensland The latest news from all around Queensland Racing. Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound news, interviews and profiles from around the state. Home News 2018 August Rockhampton Preview: August 23 22 August 2018 By Darryn Nufer (Photo: Matt Harris) Race 1 – Small field of three-year-olds to kick off proceedings and it’s hard to go past (1) Legal Ties. Finished second (1.75 lengths) behind the talented Gypsy Toff last time and suited here with 57kg. What would Gypsy Toff do to this field? (3) Our Top Shelf was a last start winner here and hasn’t been far away in most of his runs to date. (4) Gohan can improve second-up. (5) Wicked Grimshaw resumes and might need this run (no trials). SELECTIONS: Legal Ties; Our Top Shelf; Gohan; Wicked Grimshaw. Race 2 – (6) Rusty Scooter returned to the winner’s stall last start and looks well weighted with 55kg to repeat. (1) Turkey Beach didn’t have much luck trapped wide in a small field first-up. Should get a good run drawn the inside, does have to lump 60kg which is some concern, but is better than most of these. (3) Chief Advocate looks suited with 56kg particularly if Mystic Lad injects some speed into the race. (4) Mystic Lad has been racing well of late. SELECTIONS: Rusty Scooter; Turkey Beach; Chief Advocate; Mystic Lad. Race 3 – Liked the way (2) Friendly Dragon was finishing off the Mackay Newmarket after being slowly away and think he may represent the value here. (1) Heartbreak Harry is the class runner of the race and deserves 60kg but tempo is going to be crucial to his chances. (3) Worthy Hero returned to the winner’s stall last week at Mackay and if he gets a soft lead will be hard to run down. (4) Stellar Knight may be the best of the rest. SELECTIONS: Friendly Dragon; Heartbreak Harry; Worthy Hero; Stellar Knight. Race 4 – With barrier advantage leaning towards Tom Button's debutant (2) That's Anna who has three 900m trials under her belt. (11) No Finer Jet looked good winning a recent maiden trial over 900m here and this doesn’t look a strong field although the wide barrier from the 1050m start does worry me a little and wouldn't want to be taking short odds. (6) Heeb’s First Angel could be worth a spec at value and is drawn to get a good run. Stablemate (4) Jabrook has a horror gate in 14 to overcome but still has better form than most of these. SELECTIONS: That's Anna; No Finer Jet; Heeb’s First Angel; Jabrook. Race 5 – The scratching of topweight French Hussler opens this race up. Don't want to be taking short odds Barbados Storm (up in grade) so maybe the stablemate (2) Green Empire is the improver and the way to go with the inside gate and Justin Stanley on. (6) Barbados Storm has strung two victories together in succession and it’s hard to knock winning form. (4) Mr Boxvale has run top two at last four outings and has great record at the mile. (7) Claim The Throne won the Gladstone Cup last start and could be a blowout down in the weights. Didn’t find a spot for (8) Extra Cover but still wary of him with no weight on his back. SELECTIONS: Green Empire; Barbados Storm; Mr Boxvale; Claim The Throne. Race 6 – Roma visitor (3) Set To Conquer looks to have good overall form for a Class 1 at Rocky so prepared to go with him. On her best form (5) Bring Me Luck is capable of turning these over. (2) Marquant could improve back on a turf track. (6) Crafty Aquila has run okay when venturing here previously so in the mix. SELECTIONS: Set To Conquer; Bring Me Luck; Marquant; Crafty Aquila. Race 7 – Former NSW galloper (3) Static Lift had the flashing light on when getting home hard at Townsville and should be ready to show up now. (10) Now Ask Me has been going great guns so expect her to be in the firing line again with nothing on her back. Starting to lose patience with (2) Guissola but gun jockey sticks so have to respect that. (4) Swingahinch is always around the mark and drops in grade. Zammit: 'We've never had a stayer this good' :: Racing Queensland He's conquered Queensland, now Double Gee will be given the chance to conquer Australia in tonight's National Distance Final at Sandown. Home News 2018 August Queensland Conquered Nationals next for Double Gee 22 August 2018 By Isaac Murphy Double Gee has beaten Queensland’s best stayers without blemish at Albion Park, so it is only fair the boom Selena Zammit stayer will represent the state at the National Distance Final at Sandown Park tonight. Double Gee is unbeaten in five runs over the 710m at Albion Park after breaking the Casino 600m track record in a 20-length win. Although the stayer has clearly taken all in front of him at home, kennel representative Michael Zammit says the Nationals are an unknown challenge. Having not travelled further than Casino before in his young career the kennel took Double Gee for a trial at Sandown last week with mixed results. “He didn’t go that good he looked a bit lost early but he’s that sort of dog and it didn’t shock us he reacted to the track and the travel like that,” Michael Zammit said. “Once he got going he seemed to like the track so he’ll definitely benefit from the run, but I guess that’s why we chose to take him down there and give him a look.” Seven will be the lucky number for Double Gee as he jumps from the black and is currently installed as a $7 chance on UBET fixed. Robert Britton’s Victorian kennel mates Tornado Tears and Rippin’ Sam head the market. Zammit is well aware of the enormity of taking on Australia’s best stayer at his home track from a sticky draw. “Our dog’s going extremely well but we’re realistic that we’re taking on Tornado Tears on his home turf and as good as I think our dog is he’s going to have his work cut out, but in saying that he’s good enough if the breaks go his way,” he said. “The biggest challenge is going to be where he gets to in the run, we’d like him to be on the fence from the first corner so from out there in the seven he’s going to need a fair bit of luck.” Zammit said Double Gee’s box manners were going to play a big part in giving the dog a chance to show off his late race strength. “Every now and again he can jump well but he doesn’t normally have a lot of speed, so we’re hoping two weeks between 700’s will help him jump a little bit quicker, but when you look at his racing pattern it’s not the norm with him,” he said. “You never know and one thing in his favour is he is very strong and a big strider, so if he can just be in a position where he can balance up around the first turn he’s a chance.” While Zammit admitted it would be a tough task on Friday he said Double Gee would take great benefit from mixing it with Australia’s best. “He’s come along at a time where it’s a very good era of stayers, headed by Tornado Tears. Our boy would’ve been the quickest around Albion Park by a margin if not for him,” he said. “It’s going to be a good experience regardless, even if he doesn’t win with the draw and the field we just want him to get around alright and run a credible race to really let us know he’s going to be competitive with the best of them moving forward.” While Zammit is trying to keep a lid of Double Gee’s potential, the kennel knows they’ve got a special one. “We’ve had a few good sprinters but we’ve never had a stayer this good so it’s pretty exciting,” he said. Form Analyis: Redcliffe 24 August 2018 :: Racing Queensland Darren Clayton provides selections, suggested bets and speed maps for Redcliffe Home News 2018 August Form Analysis: Redcliffe Aug 24 24 August 2018 RACE TWO THE IDES OF MARCH (5) shoots for the hat-trick and looks to have his campaign back on track after a first-up disappointment. He took them all the way to score by 14m over the 1780m trip here 2 starts back and running home a strong last panel and put them away nicely last start at AP. He looks the goods once again. TOP FLIGHT CRUIZE (1) set an even tempo in front at AP last start over the 2138m trip and went down fighting when 3m from the winner. He took them all the way here 2 starts back over the 2280m trip and from the front here will be right in the fight. IOWNATURBO (7) will enjoy the cosy trip and be coiled and ready for the snipers shot in the stretch. Runner-up her past 2 from 3 back the pegs, securing the pocket trail will suit and she will be charging. COURAGEOUS LEO (9) did a mountain of work in the early stages last start when looking to get forward and the early burn told. Too good from gate 10 here 2 starts back, he can turn it around here. SELECTIONS: THE IDES OF MARCH (5), TOP FLIGHT CRUIZE (1), IOWNATURBO (7), COURAGEOUS LEO (9) SUGGESTED BET: THE IDES OF MARCH (5) to win RACE THREE LIFEINHEAVEN (1) was buried in the run after snagging back from gate 4 last start and worked home in good order to finish mid-field. That followed a tidy effort for 3rd behind TELL THE LINESMEN. With the speed to keep them wide, she can look to dictate. HEAVENS HURRICANE (8) will strip fitter from his latest outing when returning from a break over the AP 2138m trip. Pressing ahead he found cover and the run had merit behind ARTFUL MAID. A strong winner 2 starts back prior to going for a break, he has 3 wins from 5 starts on the triangle. MINI MIRACLE (4) pressed ahead from gate 5 to find the front here 2 starts back and once in control held on for a tidy win. A long way back last start she finished off strongly and won’t be far away here. ELZBOY (7) should enjoy the perfect trip and can be ready to issue the closing shot. Too far back last start to issue a challenge, he is well suited from this gate. SELECTIONS: LIFEINHEAVEN (1), HEAVENS HURRICANE (8), MINI MIRACLE (4), ELZBOY (7) SUGGESTED BET: LIFEINHEAVEN (1) to win RACE FOUR SAMS A CHAMP (1) pressed forward to take control from gate 3 in his heat of this series and once assuming control packed too many guns in running away for a 9m victory. That followed some tidy runs at AP from tough gates and with the options here can look to cap a great season on the triangle. CULLEY BACKY (4) did the hard yards outside the leader BELLS BEACH HOUSE in his heat and went down fighting in 57.3 closing 800m split. That followed a handy effort at AP over the mile and with the right run in transit can look to finish over the top. BELLS BEACH HOUSE (3) was 2nd up from a break in the heats here last week and once finding the front controlled the tempo including a slick 27.8 3rd panel in holding on for a 4m victory. If he can limit the early burn, he will give this a shake. WESTERN BLAZE (8) does his best work when locked away on the pegs and saved for a closing shot. He looks to get conditions to suit here and with a strong tempo looking on offer, he will be probing for the runs SELECTIONS: SAMS A CHAMP (1), CULLEY BACKY (4), BELLS BEACH HOUSE (3), WESTERN BLAZE (8) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-8 RACE FIVE MAJOR GENERALJUJON (8) had plenty of luck in his heat when able to punch through to take up the running after the leader went off-stride at the 1st turn. Once able to assume control he was never in danger to score a 10m victory. Finding the line nicely 2 starts back, he can land an open contest. DAPPER BESSIE (1) has good early speed and can look to capitalise on the good alley here. She worked home in good order in the heat run and 2 starts back fought hard to the line after getting very keen in front. Lighting the lamps here she will be gripping on in the stretch. ITSMEGS (9) was only 4m from LAUGHING EMOJI 2 starts back when returning from a spell and then used the passing lane to score a tidy heat win. With 3 wins from 6 attempts here on the trinagle she will be charging late. ADRIFT (6) did his share of work in the heat when cutting the breeze outside MAJOR GENERALJUJON and fighting hard to the line to hold 2nd. Runner-up his past 3 starts, he is right in the fight again. SELECTIONS: MAJOR GENERALJUJON (8), DAPPER BESSIE (1), ITSMEGS (9), ADRIFT (6) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-6-8-9 RACE SIX MUCH BETTOR (3) makes his Aus debut for Ian Gurney and arrives a last start NZ winner at just his 2nd career start. He defeated the smart ESCALERA in that event who has since gone undefeated in 3 starts at AP. With a nice trial effort back on Jul 18 his last appearance, he can make a winning debut. MAYWYN TOUGH (4) resumes from a spell and has changed stables since his 1st prep that returned a win and 2 placings from 2 outings. Last start in the Paleface Adios when trying to take them all the way and only 2m from the winner MISS MONEYBAGS, he will ask the questions in this. AT RANDOM (7) was impressive on debut at AP last week and charged home strongly after being shuffled back along the pegs. In danger of being buried again here, he will have the added experience and can be charging again. DATITUDE (2) was an all the way winner here 2 starts back at his 1st appearance and followed that with a half-head defeat at AP last time. He looks a handy type and can look for the pegs early and have the options. SELECTIONS: MUCH BETTOR (3), MAYWYN TOUGH (4), AT RANDOM (7), DATITUDE (2) SUGGESTED BET: MUCH BETTOR (3) to win RACE SEVEN SLICE OF HEAVEN (5) is airborne and despite a wide gate he looks to have the measure of his opponents. Pressing on to find the front last start over the 2138m, once in control he had them chasing in vain to score a 13m victory. A winner of 4 from 6 on the triangle, he should be too strong. ROCK WITH SAM (4) takes on the Redcliffe track for just the 2nd time in his career. A qualifying winner 2 starts back when packing too many guns in front over the mile, he didn’t have the cleanest passage last start when 7m from CODE BAILEY. Settling handy he will be right in the fight. MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (7) will get options as the sole 2nd line runner to get away from the pegs if needed. Too good on the grass at Kilcoy last start he was 3rd in the Patrons Purse here 2 starts back. He can storm home late. ILLAWONG DREAMTIME (2) has good early speed and can look to fire the 1st shot here. His last start had merit when working early and 2 back was 10m from CODE BAILEY. He won’t be far away. SELECTIONS: SLICE OF HEAVEN (5), ROCK WITH SAM (4), MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (7), ILLAWONG DREAMTIME (2) SUGGESTED BET: SLICE OF HEAVEN (5) to win RACE EIGHT SONNY SAVEAO (8) has claimed the bronze in each of 4 appearances since returning from a spell, the latest when only beaten a head behind JUST JOSHIN. 2 starts back he tracked into the race strongly and was only a neck away from the winner. This looks a winnable race and his to take. WERELIVINGTHEDREAM (1) struck trouble last start before being sent forward and doing her share of work in the run. A winner at AP 5 starts back when taking them all the way from gate 2, she went within a head of victory at her next start. From the gate she gets her chance. TAP IT IN (4) has been freshened since his last run when working hard throughout and sticking on gamely. Only 6m from the winner 2 back from gate 5, he can issue a challenge in this. JUST ROKIN (6) is on the one-day back-up after competing at AP on Thurs. Her run 2 back behind COREY WILLIAM was a tidy effort and despite the gate she can be in the mix. SELECTIONS: SONNY SAVEAO (8), WERELIVINGTHEDREAM (1), TAP IT IN (4), JUST ROKIN (6) SUGGESTED BET: SONNY SAVEAO (8) to win RACE ONE CHEAP TINT (8) made the most of a front-line gate last start and was able to control the tempo after finding the lead from gate 4 to score a 5m victory over the AP mile. He was building towards that and was only 1m away the start prior. Trailing through to find position, he can go back-to-back. CALCAVADO (10) spoiled a streak of 8 successive top 3 finishes last start when working hard in the run and fading to mid-field behind POMPIDOU last start. Into the claiming ranks for this run , he was 2.5m from the winner last time he took on claiming company. With the right cart into the contest he can feature. IMA MORVEN LAD (2) held the pocket trail from gate 1 at AP 2 starts back and finished best to score a 1m victory. Buried in the run last start, he can look to be 1st to the pegs and have the options. LONG ROAD TO FAME (4) was a passing lane winner here 2 starts back in a similar type claimer to score over this trip. Shuffled right back last start, he can look for position here and has a place chance. Form Analysis: Albion Park 25 August 2018 :: Racing Queensland Darren Clayton provides selections, suggested bets and speed maps for Albion Park Home News 2018 August Form Analysis: Albion Park Aug 25 25 August 2018 RACE TWO LOCKTON LUCK (11) has the tough gate but there should be a solid tempo which will aid his chances of working into the contest. He took them all the way here 3 starts back and never looked in danger out in front. Luckless at his next outing before grabbed late from gate 7 last time, he can land this. MAFUTA VAUTIN (2) will strip fitter following his return from a break where his run on the grass at Kilcoy had merit after making a mess of the start. He had trialled twice to prepare for his return with both handy efforts and with his best gate for some time can look to take advantage. INVINCIBLE LOXTON (12) returns from a spell and was last seen when striking trouble in the Lucky Creed. He put together 6 successive wins prior to that and with 2 strong trials to prepare, they will know he is there. HOLY CAMP CLIVE (8) will need his share of luck from the gate, but the 8YO is in great form and has been runner-up to GLENFERRIE HOOD at his past 2. Just needs an opening to issue a challenge. SELECTIONS: LOCKTON LUCK (11), MAFUTA VAUTIN (2), INVINCIBLE LOXTON (12), HOLY CAMP CLIVE (8) SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 2-8-11-12 RACE THREE OUR CHITTYBANGBANG (5) was a strong winner here 5 starts back when working into the race strongly from gate 12. He wasn’t far away at his next few and was building towards a win that arrived last week when leading all the way. He can press forward again and looks hard to stop. IAMBOOGIE (3) had been racing well and not beaten far from some tough gates before running into SLICE OF HEAVEN last start. With good early speed he can look to be 1st to the pegs and with the options to release the pressure and take the closing shot will see him right in the fight. NONE BETTOR (7) has a tricky gate but he is having a great season and last start capitalised from gate 2 to win a qualifier going all the way. He can work in his races and will be in the mix. POMPIDOU (1) has regathered form after successive wins at Redcliffe. Both wins have been when pressing forward to find the front. He might be out-gunned early which is a concern but warrants inclusion. SELECTIONS: OUR CHITTYBANGBANG (5), IAMBOOGIE (3), NONE BETTOR (7), POMPIDOU (1) SUGGESTED BET: OUR CHITTYBANGBANG (5) to win RACE FOUR BULL MARKET (5) finished over the top of them here 3 starts back from gate 11 to score a nice win in mid-week company. Only 5m from the winner after leading deep into the stretch from gate 6 at his next start, his latest run over the less preferred 2138m was solid. He can look to take dictate. ANNIKA MAGIC (2) was fighting on gamely last start and was 5m from the winner after locked in traffic and looking to force a way clear. Her form has been solid without winning but with the right run in transit can look to issue a challenge. MAJOR OCCASION (8) is looking in danger of being buried away and from this same gate last week snagged back to get around them and avoid the pocket. That was a solid win in mares company, but this is another step up. OUTLAW FELLA (3) has been freshened since his last appearance when running the smart EFFRONTE to a half-neck after working hard in the breeze. He might need the run but will still be in the mix. SELECTIONS: BULL MARKET (5), ANNIKA MAGIC (2), MAJOR OCCASION (8), OUTLAW FELLA (3) SUGGESTED BET: RACE FIVE GLENFERRIE BABY (1) pressed on from gate 4 to lead throughout here 2 starts back in a C3-4 Aspirational race, holding on to score by a neck. Not suited last week from the 2nd line over the 2138m, the run still had merit. From the ace against her own sex, she gets every chance. BURNING AMBITION (8) will be glued to the back of the 1 and be ready to issue the closing shot when the gap opens. Her run last start was a nice effort from the 2nd line when circling early to the breeze and fighting hard behind DARKERSHADEOFPALE. She will be coiled and ready to strike. ARCACHON (9) pressed forward to find the front here last week over the 2138m and held on to claim the bronze behind the swooping GRINVIL. She can look for the pegs and a cheap run here to land in the money. MIGHT AND MAIN (7) has the tough gate to overcome here but she is racing well and a win in these type of mares races is not far away. She took them all the way at Redcliffe 2 starts back and last start from this same alley was charging home late. SELECTIONS: GLENFERRIE BABY (1), BURNING AMBITION (8), ARCACHON (9), MIGHT AND MAIN (7) SUGGESTED BET: GLENFERRIE BABY / BURNING AMBITION (1/8) Quinella RACE SIX GAME WE PLAY (2) has started from wide gates at his past 2 which don’t suit his style and he has been too far back to challenge. With good early speed and back to the mile, he can look to fire the 1st shot and while his numbers are not great, he gets his chance here to bounce back. RIVERLEIGH ROCKET (10) held the pocket trail from gate 1 here last week and fought hard when 7m from NONE BETTOR. That followed a tidy effort behind ONE WISE MAN and while the 2nd line is not his best play, he has been meeting stronger opponents and can be working home hard in this. PROJECTILE (1) has started from gate 5 twice and then gate 10 at his past 3 starts all at Redcliffe. Moving to the ace gate here and with the soft run in transit, he can look to issue a closing challenge. NIKALONG HENRY (5) did some early work here on Tues and the wasn’t far from the winner ARGYLE BEACH. That followed a tidy effort behind OUR CHITTYBANGBANG and with even luck in transit he wont be far away in this. SELECTIONS: GAME WE PLAY (2), RIVERLEIGH ROCKET (10), PROJECTILE (1), NIKALONG HENRY (5) SUGGESTED BET: RACE SEVEN SPRINBANK EDEN (9) was too strong here last week when pressing to the breeze from a 10m tape and out-lasting them. His win 3 starts back was an impressive effort over the 2138m trip and with the right run in transit can look to add another win to his tally. HELLBOUND (3) scored under mobile conditions here last start when finishing best from the running line to score by a neck. His run 2 back suggested a win wasn’t far away and with an excellent record from the mobile will be right in the thick of it in this. SPUD (8) is flying at present and will need plenty of luck and might just be away from the pegs early to avoid a pocket. Beaten 2m last start behind SPRINGBANK EDEN, he will be a huge threat if seeing space. SOUTHERN ALPS (11) started from a 10m tape last start when finishing mid-field behind SPRINGBANK EDEN. That followed a strong all-the-way win over the log 2647m trip and from the tough alley is a podium hope. SELECTIONS: SPRINBANK EDEN (9), HELLBOUND (3), SPUD (8), SOUTHERN ALPS (11) SUGGESTED BET: SPRINBANK EDEN (9) to win RACE EIGHT SIR JULIAN (2) is on the back-up from Thurs where he looked well placed and a leading hope. He hasn’t been far away in recent starts including 10m behind OUR CHITTYBANGBANG in a qualifier, that followed a 3m 3rd to ONE WISE MAN. From the gate he looks to get his chance. BIG BRUCE (5) made an error last start and was banished to the trials. He returned an impressive trial to stamp his ticket back to the races. and despite a tricky gate can throw down a challenge His form prior to hi latest run was sound and despite a tricky gate can throw down a challenge. SAMMYSLUCK (1) steps out in Qld for the 1st time for Adam Richardson. With the benefit of the ace gate and good early speed, he can look to make the most of his debut. KAANAPALI (8) looks set to enjoy a nice trip against the markers from this gate. He looked to take them all the way last week when fading late and with the soft trip can be sharper. SELECTIONS: SIR JULIAN (2), BIG BRUCE (5), SAMMYSLUCK (1), KAANAPALI (8) SUGGESTED BET: SIR JULIAN (2) to win RACE NINE GLENFERRIE HOOD (2) is in super form and completed a hat-trick of victories here last week when never in danger controlling the tempo. After a 2nd panel breather he was well within himself in scoring. With the lead his for the taking, he will be wheeling and dealing in front. ALLELUIA (6) is racing well and keeping the placings ticking over. 3rd to GLENFERRIE HOOD his past 3, he was hitting the line in good fashion last week to be within 4m at the finish. He has no luck from the gate here but can slide across and will be charging home. OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1) lands the perfect gate for her pattern in the small field and will be ready to take the passing lane when it opens. 2nd last start the soft run suits. SELECTIONS: GLENFERRIE HOOD (2), ALLELUIA (6), OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1) SUGGESTED BET: GLENFERRIE HOOD (2) to win RACE TEN NEVAEH (8) found the running line from gate 5 last start and hit the line in good order to be within 2m of the winner HAVETOGETAWAYMORE. That followed a tough effort at Redcliffe when fighting hard to the line. Sweating on the 1 getting her to the passing lane, she will take the closing shot. BRONZE ECSTASY (1) was slow off the arm last start and shuffled away was never a factor behind SPRING CAMPAIGN. The start prior he hit the line in good order and hustled hard he can look to take them all the way. SHADOW HUNTER (9) has claimed the bronze at his past 2 starts, the latest from 3 back along the markers behind PRECIOUS CULLEN. He will need a slice of luck in transit but this is within reach. CAESARS ASTRUM (11) found the line nicely at Redcliffe 4 starts back when wide off the track and followed that with a 3rd to SPRING CAMPAIGN. Luck went her way at Redcliffe when successful on Wed night and she has claims. SELECTIONS: NEVAEH (8), BRONZE ECSTASY (1), SHADOW HUNTER (9), CAESARS ASTRUM (11) SUGGESTED BET: NEVAEH (8) to win RACE ONE FRANCO TARIQ (8) will need some factors to go his way yet if that is to eventuate he can be coiled and ready to take the snipers hot. He finished with a wet sail at Marburg 2 starts back in a strong closing half on the tight track and was hitting the line hard last start. Just needs the opening. UNTITLED (1) made a mid-race move that paid dividends here 4 starts back to score a nice win. Since that win he hasn’t had the greatest of luck and faced a couple of wide gates. He was closing strongly last start and with the options from the ace, he looks to get his chance to cash-in. ALPHA STYX (4) ran into the airborne SLICE OF HEAVEN 2 starts back and then was buried on the pegs last start and didn’t have a decent shot at them. He can find position and challenge here. ONE WISE MAN (2) was building up to something following 3 runs back from a spell and then last start produced it to score a nice win from the breeze after following through from the 2nd line. SELECTIONS: FRANCO TARIQ (8), UNTITLED (1), ALPHA STYX (4), ONE WISE MAN (2) SUGGESTED BET: UBET Jackpot F4 1-8 / 1-2-4-8 / 1-2-4-8-12 / 1-2-4-5-8-12 Previous St George Jockey Club Townsville Turf Club Clifton Jockey Club Brisbane Racing Club@Doomben Bell Race Club Bluff-Blackwater Amateur Race Club Inc Flinton Race Club Oak Park Race Club Inc. Edmonds hopeful of another successful hit and run raid :: Racing Queensland Inverell trainer Shane Edmonds is hopeful of another successful hit and run raid to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday with stablemates Mishani Sleuth and Girl In A Million. Home News 2018 August Edmonds hopeful of another successful hit and run raid 23 August 2018 By Glenn Davis Inverell trainer Shane Edmonds is hopeful of another successful hit and run raid to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday with stablemates Mishani Sleuth and Girl In A Million. Mishani Sleuth drew barrier one in his attempt for successive wins in the Konami Gaming Benchmark 85 Handicap (1200m) while Girl In A Million drew the outside gate in the Angoves Wines Open Handicap (1100m). Edmonds had planned to aim both sprinters for the $1.3 million Kosciuszko at Randwick in October but has had a change of heart. “The original plan was to aim both of them for the Kosciuszko but we’ve decided to save Girl In A Million for other races,” Edmonds said. Girl In A Million started her career with Toowoomba’s Ben Currie but was transferred by owner Mick Crooks to Edmonds after she failed at Doomben in October. The four-year-old has started four times for Edmonds for two wins and a Rosehill failure before a last start fourth in Class Six company at the Gold Coast on August 18. “She’s going great but she’s drawn bad so we’ll make a decision later to see if she starts,” Edmonds said. “They’re predicting rain so that won’t be a problem as she’s had two starts on soft tracks for two wins. “Mike (Crooks) sent her to me to try and win some BOBS races with her but she was a bit late coming down and we only got one race out of her. “She’s going good but we’re still trying to work her out while teaching her to settle. “She won well at Coffs Harbour at the start of the month but she was trapped wide in her last run at the Gold Coast.” Girl In A Million won three of her seven starts for Currie before maintaining her unblemished first-up record when she won on debut for Edmonds at Tamworth in June. Mishani Sleuth will be given the chance to progress to the world’s richest country race, The Kosciuszko, following his easy win at Doomben last Saturday. “He’s pulled up well since his Doomben win and has drawn the rails,” Edmonds said. “Taylor Marshall is back on him for the Caloundra race and we’ve had a lot of luck with him. “He’s a good young rider who listens.” Racing Queensland webnews August 23 Previous Calliope Jockey Club Goondiwindi & McIntyre Picnic Race Club Inc Charters Towers Amateur Race Club Gold Coast Turf Club Dalby & Northern Downs Jockey Club Boulia Turf Club Queensland Greyhound Racing Club Cooktown Amateur Turf Club Springsure Jockey Club Mount Isa Race Club Beaudesert Hibernian Race Club Barcaldine Racing Club Inc Prairie Jockey Club Laura Amateur Turf Club Rockhampton Greyhound Racing Club Middlemount Race Club Inc Next

Doughty chasing first Saturday win as trainer with Time To Torque :: Racing Queensland Time To Torque set to give Gary Doughty city breakthrough win Home News 2018 August Doughty looking for first Saturday winner with Time To Torque 24 August 2018 By Glenn Davis Former Group 1 winning jockey Gary Doughty is hopeful of claiming his first Saturday metropolitan winner as a trainer with Time To Torque at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday. Doughty won the Group 1 Toorak Handicap and Group 1 Caulfield Guineas in the 1980s before moving to Queensland to continue his riding career. He still holds a place in turf history as the rider of Australia’s longest priced Group 1 winner when Abaridy claimed the 1986 Caulfield Guineas at 250-1. Doughty was a hugely successful rider in Brisbane before his career in the saddle ended in a three-horse Ipswich fall in 2000. He lost the vision in his right eye and suffered several skull fractures. Doughty subsequently worked for many years as stable foreman for his wife Kelly Doughty after his riding career ended before making the decision to train in his own right only four months ago. Since taking out his trainers’ licence, Doughty has had 22 starters for three wins with a small team of five horses in work. Doughty expects another competitive performance from Time To Torque who was runner-up at his second start this campaign to the highly-rated Order Again over 1350-metres at Doomben on August 11. “I didn’t think he could win first-up as it was too short but I thought he could last start,” Doughty said. “On paper there was no speed in the race but they ran along and broke the class record that stood for years. “He’ll run well again but I’ve got a lot of respect for Steve O’dea’s runner Sabkhat and the topweight Divine Unicorn.” “It’s a strong race and it won’t be a walk in the park but he’ll go well.” Time To Torque was bred by Doughty and is a brother to his former useful galloper Black Cash. He was formerly trained by Kelly Doughty who rated him good enough for an interstate trip last spring when he finished a close fifth in the greys race at Flemington last November before two Sydney runs which included a placing at Rosehill. Ryan Maloney strikes again with early Sunshine Coast double. :: Racing Queensland Ryan Maloney continues golden run since moving to Queensland with early Sunshine Coast double Home News 2018 August Maloney strikes again with early Sunshine Coast double 25 August 2018 By Glenn Davis Former Melbourne rider Ryan Maloney was in sparkling form with an early double at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday. Maloney won aboard the Toby Edmonds-trained From Within in the opening race, the XXXX Take In The Gold Benchmark 70 Handicap (1000m) before backing up to claim the Happy Birthday Sally Class Three Plate (1200m) aboard Tawfiq Boy. From Within was Maloney’s seventh winner for Edmonds since moving north to settle in Queensland at the start of the season. Maloney first rode for Edmonds when he won aboard Eptimum in the Group Three Red Anchor Stakes at Moonee Valley last spring. From Within never looked in doubt leading all the way for a commanding two length win over High Cost. Dream Kisses was third, a further 1-1/2 lengths away. It was From Within’s first win since scoring on debut at Rosehill in December, 2016 and her time of 56.61 seconds was only 0.48 seconds outside the track record. From Within, a $360,000 buy as a yearling, began her career with champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller and started equal favourite when she failed in last year’s Magic Million Classic at the Gold Coast. After two more failures for Waller, From Within transferred to Randwick trainer Edward O’Rourke but the Not A Single Doubt mare failed in all five appearances for her new trainer before heading north to Toby Edmonds’ Gold Coast stables. Edmonds’ stable foreman and son, Trent, predicted From Within had a bright future in Queensland. “She had been with Chris Waller and Ed O’Rourke before she came to us and she’s been a bit tricky to train,” Edmonds said. “Her trackwork has been fantastic and she’s one of the best workers in the stable.” Edmonds has no major plans in mind with From Within but he predicted she could make it to open company. “She’s a machine,” he said. “There’s nothing big planned for her and we’ll just take her through the grades to open company hopefully. “She’s got the ability to win a Stakes races in the future.” Racing Queensland webnews August 25 Previous Cairns Jockey Club Cunnamulla & District Diggers' Race Club Atherton Turf Club Stamford Race Club Rockhampton Greyhound Racing Club North Gregory Turf Club Brisbane Racing Club@Eagle Farm Mount Isa Race Club Charters Towers Amateur Race Club Cloncurry & District Race Club Mount Perry Race Club Central Warrego Race Club Gordonvale Turf Club Moranbah Race Club Inc Dalby & Northern Downs Jockey Club Gympie Turf Club Next

Form Analysis: Albion Park 28 August 2018 :: Racing Queensland Darren Clayton provides selections, suggested bets and speed maps for Albion Park Home News 2018 August Form Analysis: Albion Park Aug 28 28 August 2018 RACE TWO MAYBETOTHEMAX (10) will be fitter following 3 runs back from a break with his latest effort an eye-catcher from back in the pack. Settling back from his 10m tape there was plenty to like about how he finished it off when 6m from SPRINGBANK EDEN. Back to this class he can work home over the top. DAENERYS STORMBORN (7) worked forward from the 40m impost last start to press on to the pegs and once in control was able to last for a 5m victory. She steps out against some better credentialed types here and while she has plenty of grades to get through, she can start with this. IVANOV (6) is a slick beginner that can fly the tapes and with his customary get away can be 1st to the pegs and look to control. He just faded the closing stages behind SPRINGBANK EDEN and will be gripping on again. There are plenty that have claims for the minors in this with MATATOKI (5) in yet to miss a place since arriving in Qld including a win at this trip 2 starts back and ASTRAL RULER (1) looks set to get a great trip from the inside. SELECTIONS: MAYBETOTHEMAX (10), DAENERYS STORMBORN (7), IVANOV (6), MATATOKI (5) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-5-7-10 RACE THREE BEEF CITY STARZZZ (3) has been runner-up at al 3 career starts and has shown that he can run the gate. From this alley he can look to ping to the front and will be gripping on in search of career win number 1 before seasons end. TAXI METER (9) was good late along the passing lane 3 starts back and then here last week there was plenty to like about how he finished the race off. Snagged back from gate 7 he was threading a passage to get within 2m of the winner. With a nice early trail he can be right in the fight. MAKINMEFEELGOOD (2) went back early from gate 6 last start to find position as a red figure fav and tracked home fairly to grab the bronze. With further experience he can be around the mark. TIMSTAR (10) did the hard yards here last start when cutting the breeze from gate 5 and fighting on gamely. He has no luxury from this alley but he will give a strong showing. SELECTIONS: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (3), TAXI METER (9), MAKINMEFEELGOOD (2), TIMSTAR (10) SUGGESTED BET: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (3) to win RACE FOUR THREO (4) pressed forward from gate 5 last start in a conditioned event and once in control was able to dig in for the fight and hold off all challengers and break a long winless drought. He can take good confidence from the win and back to claiming company give this a shake. SICILIAN SLUMBER (1) pressed on to lead them up here 3 starts back in a similar claiming event from gate 5 and went down swinging when grabbed late and beaten a neck. Not suited his past 2 when chasing, he lands the gate to look to dictate and will be gripping on. FOURS ENUF TAS (7) has the widest gate, but can just float back early and let the speed unfold. He found the line nicely here 2 starts back after snagging back from gate 6 and the small field helps. KARLOO MAC (2) lands his best gate for some time after facing a string of wide gates. He can look to slide in behind the early leader and with the cosy trip be ready to issue the closing challenge. SELECTIONS: THREO (4), SICILIAN SLUMBER (1), FOURS ENUF TAS (7), KARLOO MAC (2) SUGGESTED BET: THREO (4) to win RACE FIVE LEXUS ON THE BEACH (4) started fav last start from the 2nd line but was unable to work into the contest with THREO dictating in front. Prior to that he had been taking on Saturday night band events. Able to do some work, he can roll forward here and look to take a very open contest. CULLEY BACKY (1) was due to go around in a final at Redcliffe on Friday night that was abandoned. He lands the perfect alley here and is starting to work towards a victory. His heat run in the Redcliffe series was a top effort when facing the breeze over the 2280m and fighting on. This is well within reach. DIVAS DELIGHT (2) worked home in good order here last start to get within 3m of the winner THREO after starting from the 2nd line. His run 2 back was a solid effort from the breeze and he will fight hard again. WATTLEBANK FLYER (6) was a Redcliffe winner 6 starts back and has been thereabouts in his 5 since. There looks to be some good pressure and tempo up front here which gives him a closing shot. SELECTIONS: LEXUS ON THE BEACH (4), CULLEY BACKY (1), DIVAS DELIGHT (2), WATTLEBANK FLYER (6) SUGGESTED BET: RACE SIX TOO GOOD FOR YOU (9) lines up for a hat-trick after scoring here twice in 2 days last week. Pressing ahead from gate 6 to find the front last start, he was never in danger to hold on for a 7m victory. His Tuesday win was a dominant effort and in an even line-up, he can look to land the threepeat. REGAL ROCK (10) took the pocket trail here last start and took every inch of the passing lane to arrive for the win, scoring in the last stride. His Redcliffe win 4 starts back was a good effort when wide off the track, albeit in easier company. With the right trail he can throw down a challenge. THE RAGNBONE MAN (2) moves to the outside gate after making an error last Thurs and ending his chances. His debut effort was a solid run when spearing out from gate 5 and grabbed on the line. If he gets it right he is right in the fight. HAPPY FEELINGS (8) will need a slice of luck from this alley but with the cosy trip can look to find the openings and take the closing shot. SELECTIONS: TOO GOOD FOR YOU (9), REGAL ROCK (10), THE RAGNBONE MAN (2), HAPPY FEELINGS (8) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-8-9-10 RACE SEVEN OCEANS PREDATOR (1) wasn’t suited last start when forced to work wide in the run over the mile. His previous start was a better effort when 7m from the winner and 3 starts back from the 2nd line worked home well for the silver. From the improved gate with the options he looks to get his chance. RIVERLEIGH ROCKET (3) is a slick beginner that can look to fire the first shot here to find the pegs. From gate 1 here 2 starts back he took the trail when 7m from NONE BETTOR and his run on Sat night was a nice effort from gate 10. He will give this a shake from the gate. CHIRPY CHUCKLES (4) started from gate 2 on Fri night and may have been closer than the 7m margin if able to see space sooner. He found the line in good style 2 starts back from gate 11 and can be thereabouts again. SIR JULIAN (7) is still searching for an elusive Qld victory and looked to get every chance 2 starts back when run-down from in front. His run On Sat night was a tidy effort, its just the gate that hurts here. SELECTIONS: OCEANS PREDATOR (1), RIVERLEIGH ROCKET (2), CHIRPY CHUCKLES (4), SIR JULIAN (7) SUGGESTED BET: OCEANS PREDATOR (1) to win RACE EIGHT PINUP BOY (10) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts as the starting favourite. From gate 4 here last time he found the pegs and setting a strong tempo was grabbed in the closing stages by SMART CAMPAIGN to make it successive defeats to him. He is right in the fight once again. TUESDAYS FELLA (4) made up for a pair of desperately unlucky Redcliffe performances when making his own luck in front here last start. Finding the pegs from gate 3 he controlled the speed and was able to get home in 27.7 to score. This is a slight rise but from the gate he can give this a shake. BACK PAGE NEWS (9) will find this easier than his latest start when sent to the breeze from gate 5 when fading in the closing stages. His run at Newcastle 3 starts back was a sound effort from a wide gate and he can feature here. OUR MEMPHIS MAC (2) was buried away on the pegs last start when holding on for the bronze at his 2nd start since arriving in Qld. He moves to the front line and with good early speed can look to be 1st to the pegs. SELECTIONS: PINUP BOY (10), TUESDAYS FELLA (4), BACK PAGE NEWS (9), OUR MEMPHIS MAC (2) SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 2-4-9-10 RACE ONE RANCHO MAN (4) was sent forward from gate 6 here last week and while the first panel was quick he was able to back it off yet dropped out. His previous start from gate 7 was a better effort and forgiven for his latest offering and with an improved alley, he can turn it around. LA PISTOLA (10) was forced to work in the breeze at his debut from gate 4 and there was plenty to like about his first-up efforts. He has no favours from this gate but with the race experience he can look to end his term on a high. FEELING FROSTY (9) has been sharper at his past few starts as he starts to put things together. 4th to REGALIA last start, he can settle handy here and has podium claims. KAMEKONA (6) has started just twice with her 1st start a non-event when she got it all wrong and was never a factor. She found the line nicely last start and with further improvement can be thereabouts. SELECTIONS: RANCHO MAN (4), LA PISTOLA (10), FEELING FROSTY (9), KAMEKONA (6) SUGGESTED BET: Previous Morven Race Club Atherton Turf Club Capalaba Greyhound Racing Club Texas Jockey Club Oakey & District Race Club Inc.
