He was due to start at the recent metropolitan grass track meeting at the Gold Coast, but Campton feared his fitness level could have been higher at the time.
“He’s a very good horse but he’s big and raw and is still growing,” Campton said.
“He won well first-up when he beat Barassi, which won the big Magic Millions maiden in January, but I just wanted him a bit fitter for his first go in a metro race, so I opted to trial him at Beaudesert.
“Next year he’s going to be even better.”
Hydroelectric is a half-brother to former Hong Kong star Carroll Street and was passed in at the Magic Millions National Yearling sales in 2022.
