GENERAL

Following showers after scratching time, the track was inspected by Stewards and a delegation of senior riders and was deemed safe to continue.


Race 1: AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY CHOICE / AUGATHELLA RURAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1000m)

KUDU – Began awkwardly. Bumped the inside running rail near the 700m when laying in. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice M. Goring was reminded of his obligations under the provisions AR131(b) to ride his mount out fully to the finish.

RUSHEEN – Began awkwardly. Laid in for some distance passing the 800m. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Hung-out from the 600m.

BRILLIANT MELODY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Hung-out rounding the home-turn.

MISTREY EMPEROR – Began awkwardly and contacted the off-side barrier partition. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BEST SIDE – Slow to begin. Hung-out rounding the home-turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

AREYA TUCHUZY – Slow to begin.

TOUGH JUDGE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.


Race 2: LAND TRANSPORT CLASS B HANDICAP (1000m)

ABOUT RIGHT – Laid in for some distance in the early stages, before shifting in directing SQUAMISH in onto heels near the 800m. Jockey T. Banks was advised to exercise greater care. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BURDEKIN BOY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MAKERS – Hung-out rounding the home-turn.

SQUAMISH – Raced keenly in the early stages. Directed in onto heels near the 800m and raced keenly for some distance.

JAMAICAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Gray advised although the gelding was first-up for the preparation and would derive significant fitness benefit, he was still disappointed with the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.

MIDSUMMER NIGHT – Began awkwardly.

HEDON'TWANTME – Began awkwardly.


Race 3: EXCAVATION EQUIPMENT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1300m)

MARANOA METEOR – Laid in soon after the start for some distance despite the efforts of its rider crowding TIGER BEANS in onto REGAL JUDGEMENT. Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining a position with cover near the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N. Fazackerley was fined $100 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on two separate consecutive occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing the matter, Stewards noted Jockey Fazackerley’s recent record in relation to the rule.

REGAL JUDGEMENT – Began awkwardly. Crowded soon after the start for some distance when MARANOA METEOR laid in onto TIGER BEANS.

Race 4: LYN & JACK CARMICHAEL MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1300m)

BUGDEN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

VAIN FOX – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Barcaldine on Saturday, 19 April 2025 and was cleared to start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

LASCO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held-up for clear running from the 300m until the 100m, before having to ease off the heels of ROX’N’ROL near the 100m which was laying out.

TATTLE – Bumped near the 1100m. Commenced to over-race in the early stages, before hanging in and away abruptly despite the efforts of its rider from ISHOTTHEDEPUTY near the 1000m, directing PARISIAN ROCKSTAR into the line of READY MADE which was obliged to check when tightened onto BAUHINIA BEANS which was also obliged to check and contacted the inside running rail. Trainer W. Baker was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for its racing manners.

TOO MUCH CLASS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.

AURELIAN BLANC – Began awkwardly. Held-up near the 300m before shifting wider to obtain clear running.

PARISIAN ROCKSTAR – Bumped near the 1100m. Directed in and had to be steadied near the 1000m when TATTLE commenced to hang-in.

READY MADE – Began awkwardly. Obliged to check near the 1000m off the heels of PARISIAN ROCKSTAR which was directed inwards and lost ground.

ROX'N'ROL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Baker pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR211 in that he did return to scale in excess of 1kg over the mare’s allocated weight of 58kg. Jockey Baker was subsequently fined $200. In assessing the matter, Stewards noted the mare’s second place finish in the event, and his record in relation to the rule. Jockey Baker was advised of his rights to an appeal.

BAUHINIA BEANS – Obliged to check near the 1000m when tightened for room near the 1000m between READY MADE and the running rail and subsequently lost ground.


Race 5: SHERIDAN DELFORCE TRANSPORT MEATANT CUP BENCHMARK 65 HCAP (1300m)

BASARWA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Shifted in to avoid the heels of PACKAGE near the 300m. Improved into a marginal run between the running rail and the weakening MUSIC AWARD near the 100m to obtain clear running.

SOLE HEIR – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice I. Jessop advised in her opinion, the gelding resented the track conditions throughout the event. She further added that the gelding did prove disappointing in its performance overall.

MUSIC AWARD – Jockey J. Rudd reported his saddle slipped during the event, placing him at a disadvantage in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

PACKAGE – Shifted out when not fully clear of BASARWA near the 300m which was obliged to steady and shift in to avoid heels. Apprentice C. Stuart was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding.

NASSAU COUNTY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Bumped with CELEBRITY’S BEAU rounding the home-turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, racing tight with CELEBRITY’S BEAU resulting in Jockey R. Faehr’s whip making contact with that runner and Jockey J. Missen on a number of occasions. Jockey Faehr was spoken to in relation to the matter.

CELEBRITY'S BEAU (NZ) – Stewards permitted Jockey J. Missen to be declared the replacement rider when Jockey J. Baker was to be overweight on the gelding. Jockey Baker was subsequently fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Bumped with NASSAU COUNTY rounding the home-turn. Laid out under pressure in the home straight, racing tight with NASSAU COUNTY, resulting in the whip of Jockey J. Missen making contact with that runner and Jockey R. Faehr on a number of occasions. Jockey Missen was spoken to in relation to the matter.
