GENERAL
The following horses were scratched due to no riders being available:
Race 1: YOU BETTER YOU BET
Race 3: VALIANT JOAN
Race 1:CAPRICORN PLUMBING BM50 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
FREDDIE EDDIE – Began awkwardly and as a result the gelding was slow into stride.
POTESTAS – Began awkwardly and bumped WOLF POINT. Inconvenienced shortly after the start when CHIEF MONDO shifted in. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey R Faehr reported that in his opinion POTESTAS would be better suited in races over a longer distance.
TO THE WORLD – Raced wide throughout.
ENERGIZED – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
WOLF POINT – Bumped on jumping.
YOU BETTER YOU BET – Scratched by the Trainer when there was no rider available to ride the gelding.
Race 2: GBA MAIDEN PLATE Set Weights 1000 Metres
FULL OF EURO – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the last 150m and brushed HENNY PENNY on a number of occasions.
BOOGIE FEVER – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
HENNY PENNY – Brushed with FULL OF EURO on a number of occasions over the last 150m.
NEVER REFUSE – Began awkwardly and bumped BOOGIE FEVER. Raced greenly in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
Race 3: WESTERN PRODUCE & RURAL SUPPLIES QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
Correct weight was delayed allowing Jockey J Missen, rider of second placegetter BELLO BELLO to view the photo finish. When Jockey Missen and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
HARCH ROAD – When over racing, was steadied from the heels of MOUNT MARGARET approaching the 1000m. Shifted in under pressure approaching the finish line and had to be straightened by its rider.
DIRECT AFFECT – Jumped outwards and hampered SHARPAY RULER. Raced wide throughout.
PALAZZO SPIRIT – Raced ungenerously in the early stages when being restrained. Steadied from the heels of SUMMER SIZZLING when over racing passing the 900m. Shifted wider passing the 700m to obtain clear running and obtain a position in the lead. Laid in passing the 400m.
FINAL MISSION – Raced wide throughout.
SHARPAY RULER – Hampered on jumping and lost ground when DIRECT AFFECT jumped outwards.
VALIANT JOAN – Declared a late scratching at 8.20am when there was no rider available to ride the mare.
Race 4: CHANDLER PASTORAL OPEN HANDICAP 1300 Metres
DEEP BREATH – Bumped on jumping.
HEYINGTON STATION - Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
GOLDEELUCK – Laid in down the home straight when weakening. GOLDEELUCK had to be straightened by its rider passing the 100m after shifting in.
BURDEN – Jumped out and bumped DEEP BREATH. Slow into stride. Trailed the field for the duration of the event. Jockey S Galvin reported that BURDEN raced flat and failed to respond to his riding during the event. When questioned about the performance, Trainer C Austin stated that it will be his intension to start BURDEN in a race over more distance in which he believes the gelding will be better suited. Mr Austin further added that if the geldings’ performance does not improve he will give consideration to the racing future of BURDEN. A post-race Veterinary inspection revealed no apparent abnormalities.
INFLUENTIAL JACK – Shifted out on jumping and bumped HEYINGTON STATION. Jockey T Townsend reported that in her opinion INFLUENTIAL JACK will benefit from the fitness gained from today’s event.
HERE HE LOOMS – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 5: MICHAEL HORMAN TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
Correct weight was delayed allowing Jockey M Gray, rider of second placegetterSHOALWATER BAY to view the photo finish. When Jockey Gray and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
DIVINE COURAGE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
FLOP TURN RIVER – Jockey A Bakos-Schrapel reported that FLOP TURN RIVER laid in throughout the event.
SPILL THE DIAMONDS – Slow to begin. Shifted wider to improve passing the 800m and was allowed to stride to the lead.
VAIN FOX – Raced widein the early and middle stages.
SHOALWATER BAY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
