GENERAL
 
The following runners underwent pre-race veterinary examinations after competing at Augathella on Monday 21st April and cleared to start:
Race1: Mistrey Emperor, Best Side.
Race 5: Oakfield Target, Bugden, Lasco, Too Much Class.
 
Race 1:NOEL HICKEY MEMORIAL QTIS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000m
 
Graewazi – Slow to begin.
 
Best Side – Raced wide throughout.
 
Friendly Sizzle – Began awkwardly.
 
Windorah – Passing the 600m raced in restricted room when ZA HIDDEN DRAGON (App K Barker) momentarily shifted in. App K Barker was reminded of her obligations under similar circumstances.
 
Karakaroo – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 2:ARKWRIGHT'S STORE MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
 
Field Of Mars – Bumped on jumping. Laid in passing the 1000m. Trainer, G Bignell was advised that the gelding would be required to trial / jump out to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
Flying To Mars – Bumped on jumping.
 
Mr Casino – Trainer, M Gavin was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.
 
Race 3:GARY ATHORN'S LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200m
 
Shamuka – Began very awkwardly and was slow into stride. Jockey B Newport reported the gelding resented the kickback, proving difficult to ride at times. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
Seeburg – Began awkwardly.
 
One Smart Cookie – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. App Jockey S Pointon reported the mare travelled well early however when placed under pressure proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
Muiron – Slow to begin.
 
White Chocolate – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide throughout.
 
Hammoon Sunshine – Momentarily crowded passing the 1000m.
 
 
Race 4:WARREGO HOTEL CUNNAMULLA OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
Hurtle – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Warrah Flash – Began awkwardly and slow away. Shifted wider passing the 900m to avoid the kickback.
 
Kazza's Jet – App M Mankelow was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 227(a) in that when weighing out, she negligently failed to add the surcingle to her gear.
 
Miss Hoff – Began awkwardly and slow to begin.
 
Race 5:ARNOLD SIMPSON'S LIVESTOCK HAULAGE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400m
 
Crazy Russian – Raced wide throughout.
 
Time To Testify – Began awkwardly and bumped.
 
Lasco – Leaving the mounting yard the gelding reared, harmlessly dislodging rider, broke lose, and was caught a short time later. LASCO underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching on vets’ advice at 4:15pm.
All monies invested on LASCO were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
23c in the dollar for the win
18c in the dollar for the place of winner
18c in the dollar for 2nd place
18c in the dollar for 3rd place
Trainer W Pugsley was advised LASCO would need to trial under race day conditions prior to racing again.
