SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Ipswich 9/4/2025 Race 10: TEMPUS TWO BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M - CHERRY ROSE
Trainer J. McConachy advised Stewards that subsequent blood analysis results revealed CHERRY ROSE to have a virus which is now being treated by the stable veterinarian. Stewards advised MrMcConachy that the mare would not be required to trial however a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare being permitted to start again.
 
From Sunshine Coast 4/1/2025 Race 10 – Stewards concluded an inquiry into the circumstances resulting in SHOWS A SIGN having to be steadied over the concluding stages. Jockey A. Jones was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for allowing her mount to shift out near the 50m when insufficiently clear.
 
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 5 – A. Mallyon +0.5kg
 
Stewards permitted Apprentice B. Wheeler to ride 0.5kg over in Race 2 as there was no suitable Jockey to replace him. Apprentice B. Wheeler was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
As Jockey W. Costin unable to ride in Race 6, she was subsequently replaced by Jockey G. Cartwright. Jockey W. Costin’s racing manager, A. Haining was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 16(b)(iii) for negligently accepting a ride without informing Jockey W. Costin.
 
Race 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP1400 M

RED CODE – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment, Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester stated that his mount over raced during the early and middle stages and when asked for an effort on straightening, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TEN PINS – Began awkwardly.
 
ON POINT PIXIE – Laid out on entering the home straight before being corrected.
 
PARADISE AS USUAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced during the early stages.
 
PEQUENA DIVA – Began awkwardly. Lost its near fore shoe.
 
Race 2: XXXX SIDELINE BEER GARDEN 3 MAY BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 2212 M

TORRENS – Slow to begin.
 
GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Over raced during the middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300m and was obliged to shift out to improve.
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY – Jockey M. Du Plessis stated that in his opinion the gelding did not run out today’s trip. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BRAVE BOY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced fiercely in the early stages and had to be restrained from the heels of KIPLING’S JOURNEY passing the winning post on the first occasion. Over raced throughout the event. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Apprentice C. Bellamy reported that after beginning only fairly, she was unable to muster speed in the early stages in order to occupy a forward position, commenced to over race to a moderate tempo and in her opinion whilst her mount was over racing near the 1500m, she felt that the gelding would not be capable of sustaining a three wide run from that position.
 
HECTOR DE MARIS (IRE) – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
PHILIPSBURG (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
NEW WORLD TAPESTRY (USA) – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 4.

Race 3: THE GIBSON BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000 M

RALPHIE – Raced in restricted room for an extended period passing the 600m to the inside of FLAG HALL.
 
AVONE – Slow to begin.
 
SIMBU – Raced four wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MIGHTY – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 300m, disappointed for a run between SIMBU and AVONE, which shifted out marginally.
 
ARISPHERE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
THELWELL – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Stanley reported his mount gave ground quickly on entering the home straight and he became concerned with the gelding’s action and as such, elected to not place the gelding under pressure over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STANISLAUS – Trainer J. Bruce advised a change of tactics – from a wide barrier to be ridden further back. Slow to begin and raced four wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4: LADBROKES CALCUTTA & LUNCHEON 13 JUNE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
SER JOH – When asked to comment, Apprentice B. Wheeler stated his mount failed to travel comfortably at any point during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
DAMO DAYZ – Approaching the 800m, obliged to steady after improving onto heels. Laid in on entering the home straight. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
SCUD – Raced wide throughout.
 
MEAN APPROACH – When the pace of the race slackened passing the 700m, obliged to steady after improving onto heels.
 
FLOOZIE – Raced wide throughout.
 
I AM A MARVEL – Slow to begin.
 
MISTER BIANCO – When the pace of the race slackened passing the 800m, obliged to steady after improving onto heels. When asked to comment, Jockey M. Rodd stated in his opinion the gelding was not suited to today’s racing tempo. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
GALWAY HUSSLER – When the pace of the race slackened passing the 800m, obliged to steady after improving onto heels. Raced wide throughout.
 
LADY LUCIFER – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 250m.
 
LIETUVA – Bumped after the start.
 
Race 5: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1600 M

The start of the race was delayed approximately 2 minutes due to an interstate event.
 
DEPTH OF CHARACTER – Passing the 1400m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CANAVESE (NZ) which shifted in after being tightened for room by APUNTAR. Jockey R. Stewart rider of CANAVESE (NZ) and Apprentice C. Collis rider of APUNTAR were both advised to exercise greater care. Passing the 200m, momentarily inconvenienced by DEEP FOCUS who was carried out by PRINCE LEVI which shifted out to improve.
 
MR BUBBALUSKI – Trainer J. Bruce advised a change of tactics – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly and raced four wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PRINCE LEVI – Began awkwardly.
 
DEEP FOCUS (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
SAVANNAH GANGSTER – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 1400m by DEPTH OF CHARACTER which steadied to avoid heels. Jockey J. Bayliss reported his mount had a tendency to lay out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
PULPIT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently cleared to start.
 
TICKLE MY TOSEN – Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW CLASS 3 PLATE 1400 M

CASTILLIAN (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
INFLUENTIAL – Slow to begin. Passing the 1200m, steadied after improving onto heels. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
LUBRICATION – Raced wide throughout.
 
LUDOVISI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Shortly after straightening, commenced to lay in before having to be steadied to avoid the heels of FRENCH ENDEAVOUR which shifted out and away from the heels of LUBRICATION which shifted out marginally. Jockey C. Graham rider of FRENCH ENDEAVOUR was advised to exercise greater care.
 
CRACKENTHORPE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
EL PENSADOR – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FRENCH ENDEAVOUR – Jockey C. Graham reported that in her opinion the mare proved disappointing and may not have appreciated the addition of blinkers today. Trainer B. Healey advised it was now his likely intention to remove the blinkers from the mare’s gear.
 
STAR ACT – Held up for clear running passing the 300m for a short distance.
 
IRON GRACE – Trainer S. Morrisey advised a change of tactics – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
PELE PRINCESS – Declared a late scratching at 11:45am after the mare sustained a laceration to its hind quarters. Trainer B. Baker was advised PELE PRINCESS would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
Race 7: XXXX BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP1600 M
 
TOESONTHENOSE (NZ) – Passing the 800m, checked after improving onto the heels of SMART LEGEND when the pace of the race slackened.
 
FLEUR DU MONDE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight, attempted to shift out to improve into clear running before approaching the 300m was obliged to shift back in.
 
CALICO JACK – Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to improve and take up a leading position near the 1000m.
 
FLASHING STEEL – Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FREE CARRY.
 
IMATRUESTAR – Disappointed for a run on entering the home straight. Raced in restricted room passing the 300m. Approaching the 200m, Jockey N. Callow dropped his whip.
 
SMART LEGEND – Over raced during the middle stages when attempting to be restrained for cover.
 
TUHINGA – Raced wide throughout. Momentarily inconvenienced by MORE TROUBLE (NZ) which shifted out to improve on entering the home straight.
 
MORE TROUBLE (NZ) – Trainer J. Bruce advised a change of tactics – to be ridden with cover. Ridden accordingly.
 
AWAYGOESTHEBUNNY – Raced wide throughout. Obliged to steady after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of TUHINGA after laying in on entering the home straight.

Race 8: LADBROKES ASCOT HANDICAP 1000 M
 
The start of this race was slightly delayed after PAYLINE reared in the barriers and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently cleared to start.
 
ZARASTRO – Passing the 150m, obliged to steady to avoid the heels of LIQUOR which shifted out under riding and KING KAPA which shifted in marginally. Apprentice E. Lang rider of LIQUOR was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) and was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mount when shifting ground.
 
CANNONBALL – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
NETTUNO – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
BRING ME KASH – Hampered shortly after the start. Laid out during the early and middle stages.
 
WANDA ROX – Began awkwardly.
 
SUPER DAISY – Shifted in shortly after jumping and hampered BRING ME KASH and NETTUNO.

Race 9: MORETON HIRE DAYBREAK LOVER 1400 M

GIVE ME SPACE – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey L. Dempsey stated that his mount failed to let down at the top of the straight and peaked on his run near the 200m.
 
SUPERALLOY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BOOMTOWN BOSS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 300m, shifted in to improve into clear running. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
COLE'S BEST – Began awkwardly. Over raced throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
COSMO CENTAURUS – Raced wide early.
 
PIERATA'S GEM – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 10: EVA AIR BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1200 M

MASTER SHOWMAN – Began awkwardly.
 
MANHOOD – Raced wide throughout. Trainer A. Neasham was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
 
SECRET PLAN – Hampered shortly after jumping.
 
TORABELLA – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Apprentice E. Lang stated that the mare was first up for several weeks and after being obliged to race wide throughout, she was of the opinion that this had a detrimental effect in the mare’s finishing effort. Apprentice E. Lang also added that in her opinion TORABELLA would be better suited to a step up in distance.
 
FLASH AAH – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 200m.
 
MY SNOW QUEEN – Raced wide throughout.
 
NASHIRA – Raced wide throughout.
 
BLAKMAX – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment, Jockey R. Maloney stated that in his opinion the gelding didn’t appreciate today’s racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
EXOTIQUE MISS – Slow to begin.
 
NOAH 'N' A DEEL – Held up for clear running passing the 300m, attempted to shift out to improve passing the 200m and was unable to improve into clear running and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
HE'S HEAVEN – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages.
 
LIVING FREE – Trainer A. Campton advised a change of tactics – to be ridden more conservatively from a wide barrier. Ridden accordingly.
 
EN POINTE – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
