Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 8 – R. Bayliss +1kg
 
As Jockey R. Maloney was ill and unable to make his engagements, he was subsequently replaced as per the Race Day Summary. Jockey R. Maloney was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming.
 
Race 1: CANADIAN CLUB CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 M

ACTION KING – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 1000m.
 
MIDORI BEAUTY – Slow to begin.
 
THANKYOU HENRY – Approaching the 1000m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of MISS HELLFIRE which shifted in and away from SICILIAN, which shifted in before being corrected. Whilst weakening passing the 100m, momentarily inconvenienced by ACTION KING which shifted out to improve. Apprentice C. Collis rider of ACTION KING was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. When questioned regarding the performance of THANKYOU HENRY, Jockey B. Thornton reported that in his opinion, the gelding may not have appreciated today’s heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TUFF TU MUS – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have heat stress and was treated by the on-course Veterinarian.
 
TUNED – Approaching the 1000m, raced in restricted room for a short distance.
 
CARTWHEELS – Held up for clear running from the 500m until entering the home straight.
 
COSMIC BEAUTY – Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
ALDOLFITO – Over raced during the middle stages. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer M. Hoysted reported that after being first up today, he was of the opinion that the gelding will derive benefit from today’s race.
 
SULTRY SIREN – Passing the 800m, had to be steadied from heels. Passing the 150m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening THANKYOU HENRY and was held up for the remainder of the event and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
 
Race 2: BAKER REFRIGERATION BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 2400 M

GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Apprentice E. Lang reported that it wasn’t her intention to settle as far forward, but after beginning well, her horse proved difficult to settle and as such had to take up a more forward position.
 
JACK DUGGAN (USA) – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
DILLIAN (IRE) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.
 
MISTRESSOFILLUSION (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIGN OF PEACE (NZ) – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
FLASH PRINCE – Jockey T. Marshall was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height.  Jockey T. Marshall reported that in his opinion that FLASH PRINCE had come to the end of its preparation. Trainer C. Geran advised it was now their intention to send FLASH PRINCE for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Following the running of Race 2, the track was upgraded to a Soft 7.
 
Race 3: INSPIRED BUILT BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP         1400 M

SHA OF GOMER – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages after beginning awkwardly. Passing the 900m, whilst over racing was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of OCEAN ALPS which shifted in. Jockey M. Rodd rider of OCEAN ALPS pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 900m, Jockey M. Rodd allowed his mount to shift in across the heels of SHA OF GOMER and as a result, SHA OF GOMER was obliged to steady from the heels of OCEAN ALPS. Jockey M. Rodd’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight 30/4/2025 up to and including midnight 9/5/2025.
 
SHIHAB – Began awkwardly, hampered after the start and lost ground.
 
NAVAL TRADER – Passing the 900m was obliged to steady to avoid heels after the pace of the race slackened.
 
PIZARRO – Passing the 800m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of CENTRESTONE which was carried in by TAVS which shifted in and away from ANTONITO (NZ) which shifted in to obtain cover. Jockeys C. Graham rider of ANTONITO (NZ) and N. Callow rider of TAVS were both advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
SKYFORGER – Raced wide throughout.
 
OCEAN ALPS – Bumped after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its off hindleg and to have lost its off-hind plate in running. Trainer P. Shailer was advised OCEAN ALPS would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
TAVS – Bumped after the start. Passing the 1000m, steadied from the heels of ANTONITO (NZ) which shifted in.
 
CENTRESTONE – Trainer’s representative B. Killion advised a change of tactics – to be ridden in a mid-field position if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Passing the 1000m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TAVS which was carried in by ANTONITO (NZ) which shifted in after the pace of the race was slackened.
 
Race 4: FRESH SELECTIONS BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1000 M

RUBIQUITOUS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
BRERETON – Raced wide throughout.
 
NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
THE INFLICTOR – Bumped after the start. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Approaching the 300m, shifted in in an attempt to secure clear running, and again was held up for clear running for a short distance passing the 200m before again shifting in into clear running. When questioned regarding her tactics adopted in the home straight, Jockey C. Graham stated that when a run appeared between BRERETON and HOLY RACKET, she was concerned that the run presented would close so she elected to shift in, in an attempt to obtain clear running, again after shifting across the heels of RUBIQUITOUS, became awkwardly placed on heels before being able to obtain clear running shortly thereafter. Stewards noted the comments from Miss Graham but advised that she should have attempted to test the run between BRERETON and HOLY RACKET before shifting in on entering the home straight.
 
BLACK ON BEAUTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance of BLACK ON BEAUTY, Jockey A. Jones reported that in her opinion the mare resented racing to the inside of runners in the early stages. She also added that in the home straight, her mount failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have heat stress and was subsequently treated by the on-course Veterinarian.
 
HURTS SO GOOD – Began awkwardly, bumped THE INFLICTOR and lost ground.
 
HOLY RACKET (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
ENTERPRISE LUCIA – Stewards permitted Apprentice C. Collis to only claim 0.5kg of his allowance as there was no other available rider to replace him. Apprentice C. Collis was fined $300 pursuant to AR 143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance.

Race 5: AQUIS STALLIONS CALAWAY GAL 1200 M

HI BARBIE – Reared as the start was affected and lost considerable ground. Trainer T. Gollan was advised HI BARBIE would have a warning placed on filly’s record. Jockey A. Jones reported that during the incident of HI BARBIE rearing after the start, she made contact with the top of the barrier partition. Jockey A. Jones was subsequently cleared by the club Doctor to fulfil her remaining engagements.
 
HA'PENNY HATCH (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Lost its near fore plate.
 
SWEET PRETENDER – Began awkwardly.
 
COME ON GLAMOUR – Raced wide in the early stages before taking a leading position passing the 700m. Lost its off-hind plate.
 
KOOLATAH QUEEN – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 100m whilst weakening. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Stewart could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.
 
ISTI STAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CARBONARA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LISTEN SWEETHEART – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 6: LADBROKES MICK DITTMAN PLATE 1000 M

COSMIC FIRE – Raced wide throughout.
 
HELLA FAST – Began awkwardly. Held up for a short distance on entering the home straight.
 
BENZOU – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider passing the 300m when PRIDE TO FOLLOW shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BELEGATO (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
STATE IN TEXAS – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
SEASCAPE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Forced wider passing the 300m when PRIDE TO FOLLOW shifted out in order to secure clear running. Jockey D. Thornton rider of PRIDE TO FOLLOW was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
PRIDE TO FOLLOW – Held up for clear running passing the 300m before shifting out, carrying BENZOU out onto SEASCAPE. Raced wide throughout.
 
COUPLES RETREAT (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Jockey R. Dolan reported his mount proved disappointing when asked for an effort in the home straight and could offer no explanation for today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have cardiac arrythmia. Trainers’ representative for A. Neasham, T. Pollard was advised COUPLES RETREAT (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of ECG results prior to trialing and would also require a cardiac auscultation performed post-trial.
 
Race 7: THE CAGE YOUTH FOUNDATION PRINCESS STAKES 1600 M

HARLEM QUEEN – Bumped after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to its off foreleg, consistent with being galloped on. Trainer N. Doyle was advised HARLEM QUEEN would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
PLEASURE ARTIST – Severely checked on entering the home straight after being carried out across the heels of SIRKEL by DATA SCRAMBLE who was directed out by HARLEM QUEEN which shifted out abruptly. Jockey T. Marshall rider of HARLEM QUEEN pleaded guilty to a reckless riding charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 400m, he directed his mount outwards, from a position following LA COMETA, shifting out abruptly across the heels of PROPOSE, continuing to shift outwards to the outside of POSTER GIRL when insufficiently clear of DATA SCRAMBLE which was severely checked and carried out onto PLEASURE ARTIST, who was forced out across the heels of SIRKEL and had to be severely checked. Jockey T. Marshall’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 21 days, commencing midnight 4/5/2025 up to and including 25/5/2025.
 
MISS BUSSLINGER – Raced wide throughout.
 
POSTER GIRL – Raced wide throughout.
 
MERIDIANA (NZ) – Bumped after the start.
 
HEAT MISSILE – Over raced during the early stages.
 
DATA SCRAMBLE – Severely checked on entering the home straight after being carried out across the heels of SIRKEL by DATA SCRAMBLE who was directed out by HARLEM QUEEN which shifted out abruptly.
 
BETTER THAN WORDS – Passing the 200m, momentarily inconvenienced by HEAT MISSILE which shifted out to improve. Jockey R. Bayliss was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
SIRKEL – Raced wide throughout.
 
PROPOSE – Raced wide throughout. Near the 500m, dislodged the near-side winker. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 8: JONES & CO IGA BRISBANE MILE 1600 M

PORT LOCKROY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
NIKAU SPUR (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
MISS JOELENE – Raced wide throughout.
 
CABOCHE (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
ENCODER – Passing the 300m, held up for a considerable distance when attempting to improve into clear running after TENZING shifted in before being corrected and shifted out and was disappointed for a run near the 50m. Jockey R. Bayliss rider of TENZING was advised to exercise greater care in future.
 
KERCHAK (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Raced wide until the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to BRC Starters in relation to the failure to remove MISSISSIPPI PRINCE’s pre-race earmuffs prior to the start being affected. The BRC starters were advised to review their starting procedures in relation to pre-race gear.
 
Race 9: HEART OF THE COMMUNITY BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 1300 M

COIN TOSS – Approaching the 1100m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of HATCHET which shifted in. Jockey N. Callow rider of HATCHET was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
MILLANE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider M. Harley reported he lost the use of his outside iron before gathering it shortly thereafter. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 300m.
 
ROCKRIBBED – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
POETIC DRAMA (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 300m after COIN TOSS shifted in under riding before being corrected.
 
TIDAL CREEK – Raced wide throughout.
 
WARBY – Shifted in on jumping.
 
HATCHET – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
