Race 1: BACKPACKER SHACK MAIDEN PLATE 900M
 
ALPINE POWER - As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
KEEPTHEWOLVESAWAY – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with MONTANA EXPRESS. Raced greenly in the final straight and leaving the 200 metres shifted out abruptly and had to be straightened.
 
MONTANA EXPRESS – Bumped on jumping.
 
NAPOLEON STRIKE – Shifted ground inwards leaving the 600 metres hampering DON’TLEAVEMENOW which had to be steadied in consequence. Jockey Ms A. Thomson was reprimanded under AR131(a) and firmly reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.
 
DON’TLEAVEMENOW – Had to be steadied momentarily leaving the 600 meters when placed in restricted room inside NAPOLEON STRIKE which shifted in when improving forward to the lead.
 
Race 2: INNISFAIL WOODWORKERS QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 900M
 
REDAVNI- As the mare had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Stewards questioned jockey Amanda Thomson regarding her riding of REDAVNI over the concluding stages, where she appeared to ride with limited vigour, passing the 100 metres. In explanation Ms. Thomson stated that after settling back, her intention had been to obtain a run near the rail rounding the final turn, however when this did not eventuate, she then shifted out to improve, but passing 100 metres, when in clear running, and making ground, she had to steady after improving near the heels of THREEBROTHERS, which was inclined to race greenly. Stewards adjourned this matter to view enhanced vision of the race.
 
THREEBROTHERS – Over raced for a short distance near the 600 metres before having to be steadied for several strides when in restricted room.
 
OLD FASHIONED ROSE–Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MISHANI MAVERICK–Trainer Mr. D. Amos reported the gelding was feeling the effects of racing on today’s surface.

Jockey Ms. Amanda Thomson was examined by the on track medical staff following this race and stood down from her remaining engagement in race 5 after injuring her right arm.
 
Race 3: RAPIN SPIN OPEN PLATE 1100M
 
ALI’S JAB– As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Inclined to over race in the lead.
 
MISSILE THUNDER – Over raced in the early and middle stages having to be restrained off heels for some distance passing the 800 metres.
 
PRIME RULER – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
YOUR TOO GOOD – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Gave ground over the later stages and finished well back. Trainers representative Ms. J. Dolan reported the mare was displaying mild soreness consistent with jarring up, YOUR TOO GOOD was treated by the on-course veterinarian to assist with its return travel.
 
Race 4: ROTARY INNISFAIL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200M
 
TRAVELLING SWEET – Held up for some distance passing the 600 metres. Had to steady when in clear running near the 250 metres when LUCKY JIM shifted out.
 
LUCKY JIM – Shifted out hampering TRAVELLING SWEET near the 250 metres. Jockey W. D’Avilla was reprimanded under AR131(a) and reminded of his obligations to stop riding and correct his mount in similar circumstances. Lay out for the remainder, and near the 50 metres shifted out and bumped EXCITE CHOO.
 
EXCITE CHOO – Bumped near the 50 metres.
 
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – On returning to scale jockey N. Thomas reported the gelding over raced in the early stages.
 
Race 5: INNISFAIL STOCKFEEDS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1500M
 
IRISH MIST – Slow to begin.
 
LUMIERE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GRINZINGER BURG (NZ) – Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and passed fit to run after becoming fractious when loading.  Had to steady passing the 500 metres when attempting to improve into a narrow run between PICCAPEPPA and BABY GUINNESS. Was then held up rounding the final turn until near the 200 metres before shifting wider to improve.
