SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

IPSWICH TURF CLUB-SUNDAY 26 JANUARY 2025
Race 3: LEMSECCO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M

Stewards continued the inquiry into App Olivia Kendal’s riding of GOOD PHILLY, in the middle stages of the race, particularly near the 800m, when racing between SAND ‘N’ POWER and BRUTAL SUE. After taking evidence from App O Kendal, Mr V Heading, trainer of GOOD PHILLY, and senior rider S Collett, who was present to assist App Kendal, the matter was adjourned. Upon its resumption, further evidence was taken from App O. Kendal & rider S. Collett and the available footage reviewed.

App Kendal explained when racing between SAND ‘N’ POWER and BRUTAL SUE approaching the 800m, she was initially obliged to steady when close to the heels of NATIONAL GOAL whilst being aware of the racing manners of SAND ‘N’ POWER to the inside. She said then SAND ‘N’ POWER moved out slightly due to racing keenly and when tight inside of BRUTAL SUE, she elected to steady to avoid possible interference to her mount, adding GOOD PHILLY then settled well with this move. Ms Kendall further added she was able to bring her mount the outside of the field approaching the 400m, which afforded her an uninterrupted run to the end of the race.

In not proceeding further with the matter, it was noted GOOD PHILLY did steady from the heels of NATIONAL GOAL approaching the 800m and the racing manners of SAND ‘N’ POWER, which were of a concern to App Kendal. She was advised however, there was a reasonable expectation she could have maintained her position at that stage of the race & avoid having the regain the lost ground over the ensuing stages.
