Trainer G. Gauci-Marchant was fined $200 under LR68(1) for the late scratching of GALAXY SUNSET in Race 2.

Trainer R. Tyrell was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the race day declaration of T. Brooker as the rider of ROCKRATA in Race 4.

Apprentice J. Williams was examined by QAS personal prior to Race 7 and was cleared to fulfill his riding engagements.

Race 1: SEVEN NEWS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 800 M

KING OF GERALDINE – Near the 300m, bumped with SHAKESMENERVOUS. Raced greenly in the home straight. Rider D. Peisley explained he was quite wary of KAHLUA GIRL, which was improving down the outside and shifting in towards his mount approaching the winning post and for this reason, he did not ride the gelding out fully to the end of the race. His explanation was accepted.

HELLO PUNTERS – Slow to begin.

SHEMAKESMENERVOUS – Near the 300m, bumped with KING OF GERALDINE.

KAHLUA GIRL – Approaching the 200m, was shifted to the outside to obtain clear running.

TRUCK STOP HONEY – Bumped with SUPER JOHNY JOYA shortly after the start.

SUPER JOHNNY JOYA – Bumped with TURCK STOP HONEY shortly after the start.

Race 2: SCHWEPPES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M

BOLE LE – When attempting a neat run to the inside of CHAYSE ’N’ LEISA approaching the 150m, became severely unbalanced, losing ground and almost dislodged Apprentice C. Vitler, when tightened by CHAYSE 'N' LEISA, which initially shifted in slightly before then shying in and away from DASHING BASICS, which was shifting ground in quickly to the outside. Considering all circumstances, no action was taken against any one rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off-hind leg and to have abrasions on its near hind leg. Trainer P. Wallace was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to BOLE LE racing again.

DASHING BASICS – Got its head up on jumping away.

ACAPULCO GIRL (NZ) – After improving into a run between CHAYSE 'N' LEISA and DASHING BASICS (K. Wilson-Taylor) near the 150m, was carried in onto the hindquarters of CHAYSE 'N' LEISA by DASHING BASICS, which shifted in under pressure before being corrected. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor was severely reprimanded.

CHAYSE 'N' LEISA – Near the 150m was contacted on the hindquarters.

FRATIANNO – Slow to begin.

Race 3: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200 M

GOLD DUST –After being crossed by KWIK AZ HELL (J. Huxtable) near the 700m, which then steadied, got its head up, raced keenly and clipped the heels of KWIK AZ HELL. Rider J. Huxtable was notified not to ease his mounts too quickly after crossing other runners. When disappointed for a run between KWIK AZ HELL and MACONDA near the 200m, steadied and shifted in to obtain clear running. Rider A. Jones reported after being crossed by KWIK AZ HELL near the 700m, the mare switched off somewhat and then was disappointed for a run near the 200m, resulting in the mare not finishing off the race as hoped. She added GOLD DUST would take benefit from the first up run today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

KWIK AZ HELL – Buffeted between GERRYMANDER and LOVE TO ALL shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lacerations on its off-hind hock, consistent with being galloped on. Trainer D. Hansen was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to KWIK AZ HELL racing again.

RESURRECTED – When asked about his comments to Stewards following the gelding’s run at Eagle Farm on the 12th of March, where he indicated there would be a step up in distance and drop back in class to a country race at the gelding’s next start, Trainer M. Dunn explained as the gelding had missed some work leading up to today’s race after incurring a hoof abscess in the right foreleg following its performance on the 12th of March. He added, as several meetings in the Norther Rivers region had been washed out in recent times, his options in finding a lower grade race were limited. Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection. Near the 150m was bumped by YES TO EXCESS, which shifted out.

ALPINE RAIDER – Slow to begin.

MISS SHA BLUE – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when LOVE TO ALL was bumped and shifted out. Approaching the 200m, was eased down. Rider D. Thornton reported the mare was having difficulty breathing. Trainer G. Thornton advised the mare had had previous epiglottis issues and would endeavor to have it scoped over the ensuing days. A post-race veterinary examination detected no abnormality, however; given the comments of Trainer G. Thornton, a veterinary certificate would be required prior to MISS SHA BLUE racing again.
