GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight for today’s meeting:
Race 2: Nathan Day +1kg = 57kg
Race 1: JAKE 'TEX' HAYWARD MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
HIGHGROUND – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MINTO'S POWER – Jumped in the air on jumping and as a result was slow into stride.
CUSHY (NZ) – Held up entering the home straight before shifting in passing the 200m to obtain clear running.
MOUNT WARNING – Laid in during the early stages of the event.
MISHANI TWILIGHT – Slow to begin.
YOU BETTER YOU BET – Began awkwardly. Trainer H Forster reported that in his opinion, after resuming from a long spell YOU BETTER YOU BET would benefit from the fitness gained from todays event.
Race 2: ROB MCCLYMONT MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
The start of this race was delayed when SHARWIN became fractious leaving the mounting yard and dislodged the rider.
I AM GOOD AT THIS – Slow to begin.
SHARWIN – Declared a late scratching at 2.01pm when the mare became fractious leaving the mounting yard and dislodged its rider. Jockey Anna Bakos-Schrapel was treated by on-course QAS officers and was cleared to fulfil her remaining rides. Trainer M Oates was advised that SHARWIN would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on SHARWIN be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful bets: 23 cents for the win, 18 cents for the place
VICI – Raced wide throughout.
GOTTA FLY – Whilst laying in, brushed KINJINA approaching the 200m. Inclined to lay in down the home straight.
KINJINA – Jumped inwards at the start. Brushed by GOTTA FLY approaching the 200m.
Race 3: JOHN 'ROWDY' GODKIN MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
FULL OF EURO – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.
BOOGIE FEVER – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in down the home straight.
NEVER REFUSE - Began awkwardly.
Race 4: STEPHEN 'DOZER' ROGERS MEMORIAL QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
SUMMER SIZZLING – Bumped on jumping. Bumped rounding the home turn.
FINAL MISSION – Jumped inwards and bumped SUMMER SIZZLING. Held up for clear running entering the home straight until passing the 200m.
HAMISO – Shifted in slightly rounding the home turn and bumped SUMMER SIZZLING.
BURDEKIN BOY – Slow to begin.
SHARPAY RULER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MISHANI I AM – Shifted in on jumping.
WOLF POINT – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Inclined to lay in down the home straight.
Race 5: LONGREACH RSL DIGGERS' CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
VICTORY BAY (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
PREFERRAL (NZ) –Shifted in under pressure passing the 200m. Laid out under pressure over the concluding 100m.
MORICONI - Began awkwardly and bumped BOYFRIEND MATERIAL. Whilst weakening, shifted out under pressure passing the 200m and momentarily inconvenienced BOYFRIEND MATERIAL.
BOYFRIEND MATERIAL - Bumped on jumping. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m whenMORICONI shifted out under pressure whilst weakening.
DIVINE COURAGE – Slow to begin.
BITTERSWEET PLUCK - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
