GENERAL
 
Following a track inspection prior to race 1 stewards identified areas of concern near the 800m and 1050m. Subsequently stewards inspected the areas with a delegation of senior riders. Following the inspection with senior riders, it was determined that the track was suitable to commence racing and no remedial works required. Furthermore, it was determined that inspections were to conducted following each race and patching works to be completed when necessary.
 
Prior to the running of race 1 the track was upgraded to a firm 2. 
 
After consultation with the club delegates the scheduled race times were amended due to forecasted storm activity in the area and concerns for licensees in being able to return home with potential bridge floodings. The amended times as follows:
 
Race 1 – 1:35pm
Race 2 – 2:10pm
Race 3 – 2:45pm
Race 4 – 3:20pm
Race 5 – 3:55pm
 
 
Race 1: GORDON & EVELYN HUTTON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1400M
 
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BASIL’S BOW – Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
I SAY BOOM – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Apprentice N Olzard reported that her saddle slipped shortly after the start, placing her at some disadvantage throughout the event.
 
JUST BINGO – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
PREVARICATE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
SIDESHOW FRANKIE – Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MASALI RAFFA – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CANTOR – Began awkwardly and slow into stride as a result. Shifted wider upon entering the home straight. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIPSTICK LIES – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
 
Race 2: PATRONS QTIS Maiden Plate 1000M
 
FRODASH – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 750m improved onto the heels of SAPANA’S PEARL and was obliged to momentarily restrain and shift outwards. Apprentice T Orr (SAPANA’S PEARL) was reminded of his obligation to not excessively slow the pace of the race in similar circumstances.
 
GARTAN – Slow to begin.
 
PANTHER POWER – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
WOOLMAR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and impeded shortly after the start by SAPANA’S PEARL when that runner shifted outwards.
 
HIT THE BUTTON – When questioned regarding the improved performance jockey H Richardson stated that the gelding had trialled well in the lead up to today and had matured since it’s last preparation, she further added that the stable were expecting a forward showing today. Trainer G Richardson concurred with Ms Richardsons statement.
 
SAPANA’S PEARL – Shifted outwards shortly after the start impeding WOOLMAR. Laid outwards rounding the home turn.
 
Following the running of race 2, the main stewards tower had power issues. The photo finish camera was able to be reset appropriately for race 3 however the official stewards footage was restricted.
 
Race 3: ARNIE & RENE RIDEOUT MEMORIAL Class B Handicap 1000M
 
OUR DRUMMER – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR BERLINETTA – Began awkwardly bumping FRENCH WISH. Upon returning to the mounting yard apprentice J Busuttin reported that her saddle had slipped shortly after the start placing her at a significant disadvantage throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
FRENCH WISH – Bumped upon jumping by OUR BERLINETTA. Over raced in the early stages. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey R Silvera Olivera stated that his mount had travelled well throughout the early and middle stages however when asked for an effort the filly went to the line in a disappointing manner.
 
TETCHY – Slow to begin. Shifted wider near the 350m to improve.
 
RADIANT ROMANCE – Raced wide in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure.
 
 
 
Race 4: KEN & GORDON RUSSELL MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1200M
 
MOCIAL CHIEF – Over raced in the early stages. Near the 300m buffeted between HEAT and FROSTY BEAR.
 
MOSCINI – Fractious prior to the start. Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Held up in the early stages of the home straight and shifted outwards near the 250m to obtain clear racing room.
 
HEAT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Made the home turn awkwardly bumping MOCIAL CHEIF on a number of occasions near the 300m. Near the 250m was obliged to steady and shift outwards when MOSCINI shifted outwards. Apprentice D Bennett (MOSCINI) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting out when insufficiently clear.
 
FROSTY BEAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Bumped with MOCIAL CHIEF on a number of occasions near the 300m.
 
SHE’S WINNING – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
BOULT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
 
 
Race 5: REDLINE BRANGUS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200M
 
NEW YORK GAL – Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FINAL ILLUSIONIST – Slow into stride.
 
KIRELLA SHORES – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
DAINTREE DREAMING – Raced wide throughout.
 
JUBILANT – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Upon returning to the scales jockey A Sewell reported that his mount had felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to lame in the left foreleg. Trainer D Goves was advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.
 
FLICK – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out over the concluding stages.
