GENERAL

1.    Stewards permitted the following overweights:
R4: Mitch Goring (EYE SHOOT TO WIN) +1.5kg
R7: Jason Babarovich (HOTSTEP) +0.5kg

 
2.    The following horses were declared a late scratching’s due to there being no available rider.
R6: YELLOWSTONE BETH.
R6: FORSETI.
 
 
 
Race 1: SUNSET BUTCHERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1,450 M
 
BITTER BLUE (NZ) – Apprentice Chloe Lowe reported that the gelding had resented the kick-back and had failed to let down when pressured.
 
Race 2: KENLACH TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 900 M
 
BOB’S LAST ONE – underwent a veterinary examination when arriving on-course, and passed fit to start, after a skin condition, which was not reported, was noted. Trainer Mr Kerry Krogh was firmly reminded of his obligations with respect to notify any condition pursuant to AR105. Mr Krogh was also spoken to regarding the requirement to present his horses appropriately groomed. Slow to begin; travelled wide throughout.
 
OUTBACK GIRL – Stewards questioned trainer Ms. Shryn Royes regarding the improved performance of OUTBACK GIRL, which had finished unplaced in recent starts. In explanation Ms. Royes stated that the mare had benefitted from drawing wide and avoiding the kick-back, which had been detrimental it in recent starts.
 
Race 3: MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 900 M
 
WISH I HAD – was a late scratching at 10:56am after sustaining an injury while being transported to the race meeting. WISH I HAD was treated by the Course Veterinarian prior to returning to Trainer Tanya Parry’s training establishment at Julia Creek. Ms Parry was advised that a veterinary clearance was required prior to WISH I HAD next racing.
 
BITTERGREYMACIC – lay out rounding the first turn crowding CHICY CHICY MAMA.
 
CHICY CHICY MAMA – crowded entering the turn near the 600 metres.
 
MONTREUX – travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
OHMIKKIUOFINE - Stewards noted rider Nor Yadi exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ two) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
 
 
 
Race 4: CITY & COUNTRY REALTY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 900 M
 
SEIRYU – slow into stride and settled well back.
 
EYE SHOOT TO WIN – slow to begin; travelled wide throughout; raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
MOPAR – lost contact in the early stages and finished well back. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Due to the weather difficulties experienced in recent weeks effecting preparations, no further action was required other than that Trainer Mr Kerry Krogh was advised that an improved performance would be expected at the gelding’s next race start.
 
ILZOOMA - Inclined to lay in throughout the final straight.
 
 
Race 5: RCT MAIDEN PLATE 1,000 M
 
GOES HOFF -was a late scratching at 10:56am after sustaining an injury while being transported to the race meeting. GOES HOFF was treated by the Course Veterinarian prior to returning to Trainer Tanya Parry’s training establishment at Julia Creek. Ms Parry was advised that a veterinary clearance was required prior to GOES HOFF next racing.
 
SHEEZ BRUTIFUL was a late scratching at 11:00am after trainer Ms Tanya Parry did not transport filly to the race meeting. Ms Parry was reprimanded under LR68(1).
 
JIG TIME GIRL was declared a late scratching at 2:48pm following rider Nor Yadi sustaining an ankle injury after being dislodged when behind the barriers. Rider Yadi was transferred to Mount Isa hospital for further assessment. Rider Yadi will be required to furnish a medical clearance prior to next riding. No actions were taken against JIG TIME GIRL.
 
AZCONPETE – slow to begin.
 
RED SUTURE – gave ground from the 600 metres and finished well back; warned performance.
 
Stewards ordered that all bets placed on JIG TIME GIRL be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st. PROJECT XERO 23c win, 18c place
2nd. CLOUD EIGHT 22c place
 
 
 
Race 6: STEEJO PRESS QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1,200 M
 
FORSETI – was a late scratching at 3:13pm due to no rider being available, following the injury to rider Nor Yadi in Race 5.
 
FAR REACHING – got back in the early stages.
 
ROCKETING TO WIN – gave ground over the latter stages; when questioned rider Denicious Smith stated that the gelding had resented the kick-back and despite his efforts, would not come onto the bridle in consequence.
 
SNIPILLICIOUS – lost contact in the middle stages; when questioned rider David Sparks stated that the gelding would not gallop through the kick-back and only came onto the bridle after being drawn very wide on the track passing the 450 metres.
 
FABULOUS HOFFA – raced greenly throughout the final straight.
 
THE EIGHTH I AM – travelled wide throughout.
 
 
Race 7: MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB OPEN HANDICAP 1,200 M
 
HOTSTEP – Jason Babarovich replaced Nor Yadi (injured).
 
JUST STOP IT – lay out under pressure passing the 150 metres brushing with CASINO LORD. The all-clear was delayed due to the connections of 2nd place JUST STOP IT wishing to review vision of the final straight after the gelding made contact with race winner CASINO LORD in the final straight. After consideration, connections elected not to proceed.
 
CASINO LORD – shifted ground inward under pressure passing the 150 metres bumping with JUST STOP IT, having to be straightened. Rider Mitch Goring accidently dropped his whip at this point.
