GENERAL

1.    Stewards permitted the following overweights:
R2: Amanda Thomson (OHMIKKIUSOFINE) 0.5kg
R3: James Baker (WELLOUTOFREACH) +0.5KG
R3: Amanda Thomson (EYE SHOOT TO WIN) +1.5kg
R5: James Baker (THE BOI) +0.5kg

2.    The following horses were declared a late scratching’s due to there being no available rider.
R2: FORSETI; TEQUILA DANCER.
 
 
 
Race 1: CITY COUNTRY REALTY BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP  1,450 M
 
JETSKI – was declared a late scratching at 12:10pm, after a veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers revealed the gelding to be displaying lameness in the off-hind leg.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to detect any post-race abnormality; however, it was noted that a bandage applied pre-race may have caused an irritation which resulted in JETSKI failing to stride out during its preliminary. A further veterinary inspection conducted after the horse had cooled out again failed to detect any condition or abnormality. Trainer Ms Tanya Parry undertook to advise the Stewards in coming days of any matter which may be of relevance.
 
Prior to correct weight being declared, all bets placed on JETSKI were ordered to be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply;

ROOM FOR SQUARES $0.08 cents Win and $0.08 cents Place
MR METRICS $0.10 cents Place
REMORSELESS $0.08 cents Place
 
REMORSELESS – travelled wide throughout: -Stewards noted rider James Baker exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ three) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
 
HOTSTEP – travelled wide throughout.
 
SIERYU – travelled wide throughout: rider Denicious Smith reported that, in his opinion, the mare had been unsuited to the step up in distance today.
 
 
 
Race 2: HV POWER BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP  1,000 M
 
PHILADELPHA FREE  - rider James Baker reported that the gelding went off-stride passing the 600 metres and lost momentum. A post-race veterinary inspection of PHILADELPHA FREE revealed no obvious abnormality.
 
YELLOWSTONE BETH – travelled wide throughout.
 
INALA ATICUS – travelled wide throughout.
 
HI ZERO – travelled wide throughout.
 
OFFANGO – began awkwardly.
 
GROOVE CITY – jumped inward at the start.
 
BELLE OF THE HUNTER – proved fractious behind the barriers; slow to jump away then hampered and lost ground.
 
 
Race 3: I.S.C BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP  1,000 M
 
TRICKETEER – Tessa Townsend replaced Michael McDonald who was unable to make the required weight. Given all circumstances, including being delayed by a traffic incident, Mr McDonald was reprimanded under AR190(3) and reminded of his obligations with respect to riding at the contracted weight.
 
EYE SHOOT TO WIN – rider Jason Babarovich was dislodged in the enclosure, sustaining an injury to his lower leg and being unable to fulfil his engagement. Mr Babarovich was examined by the on-track medical staff and treated for bruising to his shin. Mr Babarovich was stood-down from his final engagement of the day in Race 5.  Amanda Thomson replaced rider Babarovich on EYE SHOOT TO WIN.
 
WELL OUT OF REACH – ran out at the start.
 
CHASETON – was reluctant to race through the kick back in the middle stages and lost ground ,
 
WIN AND TONIC – travelled wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4: NQES QTIS MAIDEN PLATE  1,200 M
 
CLEAN SHAVEN – apprentice Ms Courtney Ferris reported that gelding, which was having its first start on the track, had struggled with the kick-back in the early and middle stages, however after being drawn wide had finished the race off fairly.
 
CHARGRILL – Jockey Michael McDonald pled guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100 metres, (5 more than permitted). Jockey McDonald’s licence to ride in races was suspended from the close of racing today up to and including racing on Monday 28th April 25 (8 days).
 
SEABEE – travelled wide throughout.
 
NOBLE VALOUR – fractious prior to the start.
 
 
Race 5: STEE.JQ PRESS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1,200 M
 
THE LAST CRUSADE – lay out rounding the first turn resulting in BOB’S LAST ONE being crowded for several strides. Rider Matthew Gray was reminded of his obligations when in similar circumstances.
 
BOB’S LAST ONE – crowded for several strides near the 700 metres.
 
BEYOND STAR – Tessa Townsend replaced Jason Babarovich who was injured prior to Race 3.
