Race 1: TRAVIS SCHULTZ & PARTNERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M
HOSTWIN ERICO – Began Awkwardly.
MOHITE – Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
SWEET MADELINE – Slow to begin.
CHERRY POP – Raced Wide throughout.
SHE'S SO SWANK – Slow to begin.
RUBOS – Raced wide throughout.
Race 2: MAEVA HOSPITALITY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
FAIRFAX DIAMOND – Rider S. Cormack reported his mount raced greenly and hung in throughout the event.
ENIDZEL – Began Awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
SAN JOSE BOY – Restrained after the start in order to obtain a position closer to the fence with cover.
BLUE MOVES – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight
KENNY THE BAKER – Rider J. Orman advised he was disappointed with the geldings performance and could offer no tangible explanation. In addition, trainer D. Vandyke advised that in light of the performance, the horse will be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
Race 3: KENDRICK RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1600 M
FRENCH EMPIRE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
PARSIMONIOUS – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
VREDEFORT (NZ) – Laid in under pressure from the 300m onwards.
HUMID – Underwent a veterinary examination pre-race at the request of stable staff and was found to have a minor wound to the front of the near-side hock and was cleared to take its place in the field. When asked to comment on the performance, Rider B. Wheeler could offer no tangible explanation other than the filly potentially not handling the synthetic surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
WIMOWEH – Held up momentarily on entering the home straight.
Race 4: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1800 M
TAPPY'S LAD (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
OUTBURST – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 5:BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1600 M
HALF LISTENING (USA) – Slow to begin.
PIREONTI – Raced wide throughout the event.
IMEZAAKI (NZ) – When attempting to shift out to improve to the outside of HALF LISTENING approaching the 600m, was disappointed for a run and had to be steadied.
JAC THE GREAT – Slow to begin. Raced wide in early and middle stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer E. Hayes advised the mare would likely be retired.
Race 6: KEVLACAT POWER BOATS AUSTRALIA OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M
HEARTONI – Shifted out under pressure in the final 100m. Apprentice J. McMurray was unable to claim to his riding weight and claimed 0.5kgs of his 2kg allowance. Apprentice McMurray pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 143 (14) for failing to claim his full allowance and fined the sum of $200. Apprentice McMurray also pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 185 in that he had changed his boots after weighing out and was fined the sum of $300.
Race 7: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 M
ELECTRIC ARROW – Forced wider approaching the 500m.
VOS SAVANT – Slow to begin. Shifted out approaching the 500m and in doing so, shifted ELECTRIC ARROW wider on the track. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BONNET ROUGE – Laid in during the early stages of the home straight.
