GENERAL

As Apprentice J Williams not riding at today’s meeting due to illness rider changes were made as per the steward’s summary. Apprentice Williams was advised he would be required to produce a medical clearance before returning to race riding.
 
Race 3: Jockey J Martin was examined by the Queensland Ambulance Services prior to the running of race 3 when he was dislodged from CAPITAL BEAUTY in the parade ring. Jockey J Martin was stood down for his remaining riding engagements and was transported to hospital for further examinations.
 
Race 6: HURRICANE HALL - Declared a late scratching at 1:15pm due to being lame in the near foreleg. Trainer T Haydon was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding accepting for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
 
Race 1: CONTRACT HYDRAULICS MAIDEN HANDICAP         1600 M

STYNSY (NZ) - Raced in restricted room approaching 300m.
 
CASTERLY ROCK - Inclined to lay out, when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
RANGER ENJAY - Approaching the 300m bumped with PEAR BELLINI. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
PEAR BELLINI – Approaching the 300m bumped with RANGER ENJAY.
 
PURE THOUGHTS – Trainer J Bruce advised that it would be their intentions for the gelding to settle further forward in today’s event. Ridden in accordance with today’s instructions. Bumped shortly after start and became unbalanced. Raced wide until leaving the 1000m. Leaving the 600m, bumped and forced wider by CASTERLY ROCK which shifted out to improve.
 
ANACARDIUM - Raced wide until the 1200m.
 
DESERT ANGEL - Crowded shortly after the start and was obliged to be steadied. A. Sewell, rider of ANACARDIUM, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. When asked to comment on performance, jockey M Rodd advised that when placed under pressure from the home turn, the filly failed to respond to his riding. Cast both fore plates in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer P. Shailer advised stewards he would likely continue with the filly’s current preparation and look to step DESERT ANGEL up in distance.
 
SHOW ME THE STARS - Raced wide until approaching the 1200m. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
PRIDE OF SAVABELLA - Bumped shortly after start and became unbalanced.

Race 2: SUNSHINE COAST FLOORING XTRA MAIDEN HANDICAP   1200 M

BE FRIENDLY (NZ) - Leaving the 300m, when commencing to weaken, laid out and became unbalanced. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported the gelding became agitated prior to the start and in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect on its performance. A post-race veterinary revealed the gelding to have an abrasion to the off-hind cannon.
 
THE TERMINATOR - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers after working strongly during the preliminary and was deemed suitable to start by the veterinary official. Shifted out after the start and bumped with PRINCESS MONEYBAGS. Rider R. Maloney reported the gelding became agitated prior to the start and in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect on its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer D. Vandyke advised he was disappointed with the performance and would discuss with connections the future racing plans for the gelding.
 
INTRUDER – Approaching the 900m, was crowded and taken inwards by BE FRIENDLY (NZ) which shifted in when not fully clear, resulting in INTRUDER then bumping with SHAMOUTI.
 
DASHING HOPE - Trainer G Duncan advised that it would be their intentions for the mare to be ridden more conservatively in today’s event from the wide barrier. Bumped at start. Settled to the rear of field with cover.
 
SHAMOUTI - Leaving the 900m was crowded for room by INTRUDER which was shifted inwards to avoid the heels of BE FRIENDLY (NZ), resulting in SHAMOUTI becoming severely unbalanced and lose its rightful running. Apprentice C. Sutherland, rider of BE FRIENDLY (NZ), pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a), in that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of INTRUDER, causing that the runner to be crowded onto SHAMOUTI and resulting in SHAMOUTI being crowded for racing room and lose its rightful running. Apprentice C. Sutherland’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, commencing midnight Saturday 26/04/2025 up to and including Sunday 4/05/2025 with him free to resume riding on Monday 5/05/2025. Apprentice Sutherland was advised off his appeal rights.
 
ZOUBLIME - Shifted out and bumped with DASHING HOPE. Over raced when being restrained in early stages. Raced wide majority or the race. Approaching 600m was forced wider by DASHING HOPE which shifted out to improve.
 
PRINCESS MONEYBAGS - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with THE TERMINATOR. Held up approaching the home turn and laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISSILE AWAY - Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
RUBOS – Shifted out at the start.
 
 
Race 3: MERCURE SUNSHINE COAST KAWANA WATERS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP         1000 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 5 minutes when CAPITAL BEAUTY was deemed a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:40pm due the filly becoming fractious, rearing and slipping over in the parade ring resulting in its rider being dislodged. Jockey J Martin was examined by the Queensland Ambulance Services and was stood down for his remaining riding engagements and was transported to hospital for further examinations.Trainer M Hoysted was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to accepting the filly for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
Upon correct weight, stewards declared all bets placed on CAPITAL BEAUTY to be refunded with the following deductions to successful wagers on the event:
 
1st: 3c win, 8c place
2nd: 5c place
3rd: 7c place
 
BOOMROUX - Slow to begin. Jockey S Rutledge reported that in her opinion the gelding may not have appreciated todays track conditions.
 
BRUTAL ADVANCE - Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post. Jockey K Wilson-Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 of which were consecutive and was fined the sum of $600.
 
HORSBURGH - Slow to begin.
 
SIX OF WANDS - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with SHE’S A FIZZ. Steadied leaving the 800m when SHE’S A FIZZ shifted in. Jockey A Thompson, rider of SHE’S A FIZZ, was advised to show greater care when shifting ground in the future. Cast an off fore plate in running.
 
TARMAC - Began awkwardly resulting in TARMAC contacting its barrier partition. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Became awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
MISS DE MEDICI - Raced wide.
 
SHE'S A FIZZ - Bumped on jumping away with SIX OF WANDS.
 
VIVID ENCOUNTER - Approaching the winning post was obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of BRUTAL ADVANCE which shifted out.
 
SENORITA ZETA - Raced wide.
 
GREEN LABEL - When asked to comment on the above market performance of the gelding, trainer L Wanless stated at its most recent start at Kilcoy 12th April 2025, whilst it was their intention to race in a forward position, GREEN LABEL received interference shortly after the start and was obliged to settle back in the field. He further added that the gelding was suited by being able to lead and dictate in front today. Stewards noted his comments.
 
FLASH DRIVE - Began awkwardly.

Race 4: BLAKE MACHINERY GROUP CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

BARASSI - Began awkwardly. Jockey K Wilson-Taylor reported that on jumping away his right knee contacted the barrier partition.
 
KEENAN - Raced wide. When asked to comment on performance, jockey C Graham explained that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout and, in her opinion, may appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer B Healey advised that it would be his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
ZIMO - Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn, to the inside of IPHIMEDIA.
 
ENCOURAGED - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be heat stressed.
 
LONE ARTIST - Raced wide throughout.
 
READY TO IGNITE - Began awkwardly and bumped with CARRAVILLA. Commenced to hang out from the 700m, taking no competitive part in the remainder of event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. Trainer S. Dwyer was advised that READY TO IGNITE would now be required to perform to the satisfaction of stewards in an official trial or jumpout prior to being permitted to race again.
 
A TOUCH FROM FAYT - Laid in approaching the home turn.
 
DIBBA DOBBA - Shifted out after start and bumped with READY TO IGNITE.
 
RIVA D'AMOR - Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn.
 
CARRAVILLA - Bumped at start. Improved onto heels approaching the 200m and was then obliged to alter course.
 
Race 5: INSIDER FINANCE CLASS 5 HANDICAP         1400 M

BEAUTANTES - Shifted out abruptly after the start. Over raced in the middle stages. Bumped on several occasions between the 400m and 200m by KIND WISH (NZ) which was attempting to shift out. Apprentice C. Vitler reported that the gelding travelled well until the home straight however failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration and to be lame in the off-hind leg. Trainer R Heathcote was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding being accepted for a future jump out, trial or race.
 
REDZOUST - Hampered at the start and lost ground when BEAUTANTES shifted out abruptly.
 
GOOD LIEUTENANT - Over raced in the middle stages.
 
KIND WISH (NZ) - Approaching the 400m when attempting to improve, shifted out and bumped with BEAUTANTES until approaching the 200m. Apprentice R. Thorburn was advised to show greater care when attempting to secure clear running.
 
 
Race 6: DICKY BEACH SURF CLUB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP    1200 M

PYROIS – Raced three wide throughout. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in today’s event, Jockey M Rodd explained that his instructions were to ride the gelding conservatively from the wide draw and attempt to find cover. He added that in the early stages of the event, when looking to comply with instructions, he was surprised to see A LOT OF BOOTY, who he had thought would be in a more forward position, had been restrained by its rider, nevertheless he thought he would be able to secure a position behind HALF CROWN however after leaving the 1000m, he was of the opinion that he would be unable to secure this position as A LOT OF BOOTY remain in a one wide position, so he then elected to ride forward to gain a position in front of HALF CROWN, however, when the pace of the race slackened near the 800m he was unable to cross that runner and as a result, was obliged to race three wide without cover for the remainder of the event. Trainer’s representative G. Robson confirmed the instructions issued. Stewards noted the comments of M. Rodd.
 
A LOT OF BOOTY - Bumped with MISS HELMUT on jumping. When asked to comment on tactics adopted in today’s event, Apprentice C Sutherland explained that his instructions were to ride the gelding conservatively from the wide barrier. Trainer G. Duncan confirmed the instructions issued however was surprised to see the gelding settle at the rear of the field. Stewards reminded trainer G. Duncan of his obligations when issuing instructions that could be interpreted as a change in tactics.
 
HALF CROWN - Over raced in the middle stages.
 
MAMBO DANCER - Over raced in the middle stages.
 
DRAGON SONG - Slow to begin.
 
CROWN GUINEA - Over raced in the middle stages.
 
MISS HELMUT - Bumped with A LOT OF BOOTY on jumping. Over raced in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 

Race 7: ENDED BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         1600 M

MOONAN ME - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced for a short distance approaching the 1400m. Rider C. Sutherland reported that the gelding did not feel entirely comfortable in its action when pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
THE IRISH (IRE) - Slow to begin. Approaching the 1400m had to be steadied when TAREX (NZ) shifted in despite efforts from its rider. Inconvenienced and carried wider over the final 100m by ROTHSAY’S LAD.
 
ROTHESAY'S LAD – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer B Healey subsequently reported that the gelding has pulled up foot sore, which may have contributed to today’s performance. He further added that it would be his intentions that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Stewards advised Mr. Healey that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to accepting for a future jump out, trial or race and also that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
PORKY - Over raced in the early stages of the event before being ridden forward to the lead near the 1000m. When questioned, rider R. Wiggins advised that when positioned outside AUTUMN MISS in the early stages the gelding commenced to over-race when he was attempting to settle PORKY and he therefore elected to ride forward to the lead approaching the 1000m rather than continuing to restrain the gelding.
 
PALANTUS - Jockey J Bayliss reported that his mount had a tendency to lay in then became concerned with geldings’ action in home straight and for this reason he didn’t not pressure the gelding for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
TAREX (NZ) - Laid in and away from RUSSIAN MYSTIC approaching the 1400m. Over raced in the middle stages.  Laid in and contacted the running rail near the 550m.
 
RUSSIAN MYSTIC - Steadied from heels leaving the 1400m.
 
FITZROY STREET (NZ) - Near the 1400m had to be steadied after improving quickly to the inside of ROTHESAY’S LAD when it shifted in when not fully clear. C. Graham, rider of ROTHESAY’S LAD, was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
SOCK'EMSID – When asked to comment of the above market performance, trainer B. Jones advised stewards that recent blood analysis revealed that the gelding may have been experiencing exertional rhabdomyolysis (tying up syndrome), and he had recently adjusted his feeding and training regime, adding that he was confident of an improved performance in light of the changes made.  
 
Race 8: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP         1300 M

CATTRALL – Rider K. Wilson-Taylor reported that the mare failed to travel comfortably during the event and was under pressure from the 400m and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. Trainer S. Kendrick advised he was also disappointed with the performance and would discuss with connections the future racing plans for the mare.
 
ECHO HUNTER - Had to be steadied after improving onto heels near 600m. Held up for clear running until the 300m.
 
DECEMBER DIAMOND – Reluctant to proceed to the start. Trainer J Moore was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its pre-race behavior. Raced wide throughout.
 
DILIGENTE - Slow to begin. Jockey J Stanley reported that the mare was inclined to lay out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
ALONTRO - Raced wide throughout.
 
VICTORY STATEMENT - Bumped with MAPLE DOOR at the start. Disappointed for a run leaving the 200m, had to be steadied and shift inwards to improve.
 
SET ABLAZE - Raced wide throughout. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
MAPLE DOOR - Raced wide throughout. Laid in shortly after entering the home straight.
