GENERAL
Due to apprentice M Goring being ill replacements were approved as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice Goring was advised that a medical clearance is required prior to resuming riding.
Trainers L Wanless (races 4 and 7) and T Cook (race 6) were reprimanded under LR67(1) for failing to declare riders by the prescribed time for their respective runners. In adopting this approach, stewards were mindful of both trainers’ clear records for a significant period of time.
Race 1: CALLIDE VALLEY TOYOTA MAIDEN PLATE 800 M
LITTLE FREDDY – Buffeted between runners at the start and as a result lost ground.
OVERIMPATIENT – Jumped outwards at the start contacting LITTLE FREDDY. Jockey A Butler stated that despite being trapped wide and being carried wider rounding the home turn, he was disappointed of the overall performance of the gelding. Trainer T Smith advised that he may look to reconsider the racing future of the gelding.
TUANAKI CREEK – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Laid outwards rounding the home turn and carried OVERIMPATIENT wider. Put in an awkward stride in the early part of the home straight.
ARACELI – Proved difficult to load and trainer B Trimble was advised that a warning has been issued for being difficult to load.
LADY CONSORT – Proved difficult to load and trainers representative M Barnham was advised that a warning has been issued for being difficult to load. Jumped inwards at the start contacting LITTLE FREDDY. Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages. Trainer representative M Barnham, when questioned on the improved performance of the mare, advised that LADY CONSORT had benefitted from a recent jump out and racing fresh up after a 12-month break had continued to impress in trackwork and connections were confident of a forward showing.
JUDY JETSON – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
Race 2: CALLIDE VALLEY TYRES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 800 M
CLOCKS TICKING – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DON'T CHA WISH – Slow to begin. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
AWESOME MISS – Began awkwardly and brushed with RICHKISS.
FRENCH WISH – Raced wide throughout.
RICHKISS – Began awkwardly and brushed with AWESOME MISS. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MY ONE – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: BILOELA PLUMBING WORKS OPEN HANDICAP 1400 M
MOMACK – Raced keen in the early stages.
SVINDAL – Raced wide in the early stages.
PESHWA – Raced keen in the early stages. Held up for a clear run till near the 150m. When questioned whether there was an opportunity to switch around heels rounding the home turn to obtain clear racing room jockey C Bayliss stated that his mount was traveling strongly at that point of the race and rather than ease wider he would have had to check back and out to avoid the heels of MOMACK and he was conscious that by doing this his mount would lose momentum. The rider further added that entering the home straight he commenced to angle outwards however immediately thereafter the leader, LEGEND OF ZORRO, shifted out under pressure creating a clear and unimpeded run to the inside so therefore he elected to switch back to obtain the available inside run. Upon review of the replays and considering the statements of the rider, stewards could not be satisfied that the decisions of jockey Bayliss were unreasonable under the circumstances.
LEGEND OF ZORRO – Shifted out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
ZOFFANY'S GAZE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing within the previous seven days and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.
PHOENIX FLYER – Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
Race 4: HEILBRONN'S MENSLAND CLASS 3 PLATE 1400 M
NEW LEVEL (NZ) – Slow to begin and threw its head in the air at that start, resulting in apprentice M Apel being struck receiving a minor nosebleed.
DAINTREE DREAMING – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
CAVE DIVER (GB) – Began awkwardly brushing with DAUNTING LADY. Gave ground over the final 600m to be beaten 15 lengths into last position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer I Prizeman was advised that the mare would be stood down from TAB race meetings until it establishes better form at NON-TAB venues.
DAUNTING LADY – Began awkwardly brushing with CAVE DIVER (GB).
Race 5: AMA MAINTENANCE ALLIANCE OPEN HANDICAP 1075 M
JOURNALISM – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and had to be switched out across the heels of LITTLE TOWN BLUES leaving the 100m.
CAPTAIN FOX – Began awkwardly.
JAMESATELLI – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages and had to be steadied off the heels of LITTLE TOWN BLUES rounding the 800m turn. Continued to over race in the middle stages. Briefly held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.
MR TANGLES – Bounded in the air on jumping.
Race 6: GROW AGRIBUSINESS & FINANCE CLASS 1 PLATE 1075 M
BIG SHOOTER – Slow to begin.
BORRELLI – Slow into stride. Apprentice M Apel advised that the gelding raced flat and was disappointing. Trainer G Bell advised that BORRELLI is now likely to be spelled.
LUCKY STRONG – Laid out rounding the home turn and shifted ground outwards in the home straight despite the efforts of its rider.
HVARDANCE – Held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.
Race 7: BETTA HOME LIVING & ELECTRICAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1400 M
LATE NIGHT DEVIL – Began awkwardly. Shifted ground outwards under pressure in the home straight.

BOOM BOOM BELLA – Began awkwardly.
GREEN PARK – Over raced in the early stages.
