GENERAL
 
1.    Jockey Amanda Thomson sustained an injury at Innisfail on 26/4 and was replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
2.    Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry regarding Trainer Megan Purvis failing to scratch a dual acceptor (ARGUABLE) by the required time.
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 1 – WHISKEY RIVER - Ryan. Wiggins +1.0kg,
Race 1 - LOST LAMB - Sean. Cormack +1.0kg,
Race 1 – LOLLIES - Justin Stanley +1.0kg
Race 4 – MISS SEATTLE - Lacey Morrison +1.0kg
Race 7 – READ ‘EM AND WEEP – Lacey Morrison (replaced by Nathan Thomas) +1.0kg

 
Race 1: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 M

NOSEY NEO – Bumped heavily with LOLLIES on jumping. Laid in under pressure over the final 300 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of NOSEY NEO, rider Aidan Holt reported the gelding had not come onto the bridle at any stage and when placed under pressure, failed to respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
 
NEV – Began awkwardly.
 
RED CITY SUN – Began awkwardly and settled back: lost contact despite its riders’ efforts in the early stages, however, over the final 600 metres came onto the bridle and finished the race off fairly. Rider Zac Sprie reported that RED CITY SUN had raced very greenly throughout.  Lost its off-side plate during the event. Trainer Matthew McGuire was advised that RED CITY SUN would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.
 
LOST LAMB – Began awkwardly.
 
LOLLIES – Bumped heavily with NOSEY NEO on jumping. Rider Justin Stanley reported at scale that his mount raced greenly throughout.
 
WE US 'N' CO – Lost both near side plates during the event.
 

Race 2: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M

LONGCROSS – Bounded in the air on jumping and settled back. Inclined to lay in passing the 300 metres with its rider changing his whip hand to the off-side.
 
THE KAMIKAZE (NZ) – Over-raced in the early and middle stages and passing the 500 metres had to be restrained off heels for some distance.
 
GABBY'S READY – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, bumping with LITTLE IFFY.
 
LITTLE IFFY – Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 3: HYGAIN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200 M

HEAD HONCHO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Had to shift ground out near the 200 metres to continue to improve. Stewards will speak to Trainer Tom Button regarding HEAD HONCHO being presented to race without Pacifiers which was part of its declared gear.
 
BRAVE EDDY – Over-raced in the lead through the early and middle stages. When questioned rider Sean Cormack reported that the gelding’s tendency to over-race had proved detrimental to its chances.
 
TIME TO PROPHET – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 150 metres.
 
SPIRITED – Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
Following the running of Race 3, the track was upgraded to a Good 4.

Race 4: MITAVITE OPEN HANDICAP 1400 M

STATS – Slow into stride. Held up rounding the home turn before obtaining an inside run passing the 200 metres. When questioned regarding the improved performance of race winner STATS, Trainer Stephen Massingham stated that the gelding had benefited from an economical run and the step up in distance today.

 
Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1609 M

TRODAIRE – Gave ground from the 400 metres and was not persevered with over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance of TRODAIRE rider Justin Stanley reported that after getting back in the early stages the gelding had then commenced to over-race when the tempo steadied passing the 1200 metres, and in consequence he elected to move forward, however shortly after, TRODAIRE came off the bridle and gave ground. A post-race veterinary examination of TRODAIRE revealed lameness in the right fore fetlock. Trainer Steven Royes advised that he would be recommending the gelding be retired, nonetheless should TRODAIRE be recommissioned then a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to it racing again.
 
KIDSTON – Had to shift ground out passing the 250 metres to continue to improve.
 
KINGS CASTLE (FR) – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
QUEENBEEL (NZ) – Raced three-wide throughout.
 

Race 6: LYON BUILD NORTH QUEENSLAND BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000 M

GAMBOA – Laid out rounding the final turn when in restricted room bumping with CHICKERARTIE.
 
GOSSIP TORQUE – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
BEAUTY BOOM – Jumped in and bumped with MISS TAMBO.
 
CHICKERARTIE – bumped when racing tight to the outside of GAMBOA rounding the final turn,and in consequence shifted out dictating MISS TAMBO marginally wider.
 
MEMPHIS SHADOW – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
AMNESTY – Trainer Stephen Massingham advised that it would be the intention to ride the horse further back today to have the mare finish off its races in in a better manner – ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Badly hampered passing the 400 metres by a fallen runner and was not persevered with thereafter. A post -race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
 
MISS TAMBO – Trainer Georgie Holt pleaded guilty to a charge under AR106(1) for presenting MISS TAMBO with the incorrect saddle cloth number and was subsequently fined $100.00. Bumped with BEAUTY BOOM on jumping. Contacted a heel and fell passing the 400 metres after attempting to improve into a narrow run between CHICKERARTIE and MEMPHIS SHADOW, with rider Lacey Morrison being dislodged and MISS TAMBO galloping a distance before being recaptured. Ms. Morrison was attended by the course medical personnel and stood down from her remaining engagements after sustaining an ankle injury. A medical clearance is required prior to Ms. Morrison next riding, A post-race veterinary examination of MISS TAMBO revealed minor bruising.
Stewards questioned riders Morrison, Aiden Holt (CHICKERARTIE), Ms. Shae Nielsen, assisted by Justin Stanley, (GAMBOA) and Ryan Wiggins (MEMPHIS SHADOW) and viewed the available vision of this incident. After considering all that was adduced, it was established that leaving the 400 metres, MISS TAMBO had commenced to improve into a narrow run between CHICKERARTIE and MEMPHIS SHADOW, however shortly after was tightened and forced marginally wider and out onto the heels of MEMPHIS SHADOW when CHICKERARTIE was bumped and unbalanced byGAMBOA which laid out when making the turn. MISS TAMBO then contacting the heels of MEMPHIS SHADOW and falling. Given all circumstances, including the tight proximity of all runners, the Stewards could not attribute the incident to any one horse or rider, therefore took the matter no further.
 
TALONS – Slow into stride. Held up rounding the home turn then hampered passing the 400 metres. 
 
THE REAL THING – Raced wide without cover throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 7: NEW PARK SUIT HIRE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP  1400 M

RELEASE LE MISSILE – Slow to begin.
 
JOHN JOSEPH – Fractious in the barrier to the start. Was extracted from its barrier stall and after being examined by the course veterinarian was passed fit to run. Trainer Georgie Holt was advised a warning had been placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
HANGIN' AROUND – Began very awkwardly and settled back.
 
CHARTWELL – Held up for a short distance passing the 500 metres.
 
WICKLOW LASS (NZ) – Hung out over the concluding stages.
 
READ 'EM AND WEEP – Nathan Thomas replaced Lacey Morrison. Held up rounding the home turn before shifting wider at the 300 metres to continue to improve.
 

Race 8: COWBOYS LEAGUES CLUB CLASS 3 PLATE      1200 M

RAINBOW CONNECTION – A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lesions in the heel area.  
 
RECRUITER – Held up for the majority of the final straight up to a point passing the 100 metres.
 
THE PUNISHER – Very slow to begin and settled well back. Lost both front plates in running.  
 
FANCIFUL MR FOX – Denicious Smith replaced Lacey Morrison. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
THE SEEKER – Jumped inwards and bumped with CITY OF BOULDER.
 
CITY OF BOULDER – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide with cover in the middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before shifting wider passing the 300 metres to continue to improve.
 
MISHANI PERFECTION – Raced wide without cover throughout.
