Race 1: RAILWAY HOTEL F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1050M
GOLD TRADER – Raced wide throughout. J. Morris advised stewards that his mount had a tendency to hang out, proving difficult to ride.
OBNOXIOUS – Became unbalanced leaving the 200m, shifted out and hampered another runner. Was found to have bled during the event. As this was the second occasion on which the mare had bled, it will now incur a lifetime ban from racing.
VERSCENT – Hampered leaving the 200m.
REINA DE HIELO – Blundered shortly after the start. Shifted in and crowded another runner near the 1000m. Rider V. Venkaya was advised to exercise more care. Overraced in the middle stages of the race and shifted out forcing another runner wider on the track.
LADY ON THE ROCKS – Slow to begin.
MEGHAPUSHPA – Began awkwardly. Momentarily steadied near the 1000m when crowded for room. Jockey A. Allen reported that after being inconvenienced near the 1000m his mount raced further back in the field than anticipated. He added that the horse became unbalanced rounding the home turn, however once straightening up found the line strongly over the concluding stages.
MISS HEIDELICIOUS – Forced wider on the track in the middle stages. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
LA DONTA – Raced wide throughout.
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to SOFT 7.
Race 2: BARRIER REEF POOLS C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1050M
MAGIC STREET – V. Venkaya pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 37(a) in that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of GLADISHING, which had to be steadied and lost its position, and that he continued to allow his mount to shift in under riding when not clear of ROCKY EXPECTATIONS, which was taken in, making contact with GROVER, which was buffeted heavily, and causing tightening to DRAGON FIRE and DANCETIME. V. Venkaya’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight on Tuesday 26 January and expire at midnight on Sunday 7 February 2016. Lost the near fore plate in running.
ALOHA CAPTAIN – Slow to begin.
GLADISHING – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
MISHANI PHOENIX – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
REGAL LAD – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be checked approaching the 400m when tightened for room by GROVER, which was tiring and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Race 3: QPSIG CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1650M
Trainer B. Dais was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Hellyer as the rider of ALL GET CLANGED.
MARAU DAZE – Slow to begin.
SKYTREK – Had to be checked and lost momentum when attempting a doubtful run between ALL GET CLANGED and EYE OF HORUS approaching the 400m.
SPUN HARD – Slow to begin.
ALL GET CLANGED – Hung out rounding the turn out of the straight on the first occasion.
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to SOFT 6.
Race 4: ANZAC DAY RACES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M
Trainer L. Hatch was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Hellyer as the rider of CAPTAIN OF THE SEA.
Trainer C. Jordan was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Murphy as the rider of SNAPY IMPACT.
CAPTAIN EXCEL – Began awkwardly after being fractious in the barriers.
CAPTAIN OF THE SEA – Raced wide throughout.
COMMAND HUNTER – Hung out under pressure in the home straight.
SNAPY IMPACT – Bumped with another runner near the 1000m and again near the 700m.
STELLAR KNIGHT – Was found to have bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first occasion on which the horse has bled, the gelding will be ineligible to start for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
FLYNN EFFECT – Slow to begin. Held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn behind the tiring MAD MAMA.
HARD EVIDENCE – Became unbalanced near the 1000m and shifted out making contact with another runner. Bumped again with another runner near the 700m.
Race 5: BEAUDESERT SOFT DRINKS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1200M
STARWOOD – Bumped at the start.
SAINT HUGO – Raced wide throughout.
MYSONHARRY – Began awkwardly, shifted out, bumped another runner and lost ground. Hung out for the majority of the event. Trainer J. Smerdon was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.
CANNY EXCEL – Raced wide throughout.
MY LITTLE FLICKA – Had to be momentarily steadied near the 400m after improving on to heels before shifting wider.
LILY MY GIRL – Blundered on jumping.
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to SOFT 5.
Race 6: DAVID LOVELL CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1100M
SLIPPERY SAGA – When asked to explain the horse’s poor performance, apprentice J. Orman stated the horse was having its first start from a spell and had travelled comfortably throughout, however when placed under pressure failed to respond and tired over the concluding stages. Trainer H. Page stated that whilst she was disappointed with the gelding’s performance, she did note that it was its first run from a spell and was slightly up in grade, however gave an undertaking to advise stewards of anything that may come to light in coming days which may have had an effect on the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
OH MY ROCKET – Began awkwardly.
STRELOVEN – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
WIGGLE WIGGLE – Began awkwardly.
IRISH MAMBO – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 7: CLEAR SUMMER LODGE COUNTRY QUEENSLAND SHOWCASE BM70 H’CAP – 1400M
BARON DOURO – Forced wider on the track in the middle stages and then raced wide for the remainder of the event.
CHAMPAGNE TALES – Began awkwardly.
HYDRAZINE – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.
MESTALLA – Inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ROMAN SECRET – Overraced in the early and middle stages and shifted out, forcing another runner wider on the track and was steadied from heels near the 700m.
Race 8: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY RATINGS BAND 0-62 H’CAP – 1300M
DELAGOS – Slow to begin.
GET ON DOWN – Refused to leave the barriers as the start was effected. Trainer T. Hall was advised that the horse must officially trial on two occasions to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.
PUNTERS JOURNEY – Slow to begin.
FATHER SHADY – Began awkwardly. Raced fiercely in the early stages and when being restrained shifted out, making contact with another runner near the 900m and then continued to race ungenerously for some distance and then was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 200m, momentarily placing PUNTERS JOURNEY in restricted room.
SUM IT UP – Bumped by another runner near the 900m and raced wide for the majority of the event.
