SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS: Nil

Race 1: Brisbane Marriott Hotel Fillies & Mares Class 3 Plate - 1350m

INTERLUDE – Slow to begin.

SILVERENE – Slow to begin.

MORE FOR ME – Raced 3 wide in the early stages until approaching the 700m. Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the mare hung in under pressure in the home straight, which placed him at a disadvantage.

ASADAUSKAITE – Approaching the 600m the mare broke down and was retired from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a fractured pelvis and was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds.

LONGCHAMP BELLE – Hung in when placed under pressure over the final 250m.

Race 2: Channel 7 Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate - 1110m
COPPER COIN – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight until near the 150m where it shifted out across the heels of ADERITO, became unbalanced and lost ground. Shifted a near hind plate in running.

BETTER OFFER – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have had a granulated wound on its near hind cannon. Trainer S. Iverson was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to the gelding racing again.

ADERITO – Jockey G. Colless reported that in his opinion the gelding had come to the end of its current racing preparation.

Trainer S. Iverson was found guilty of a charge under AR140(a)(ii) of failing to notify stewards that BETTER OFFER had a wound on its near hind cannon and was subsequently fined $300.00.

Race 3: Relaxed Racing @ Doomben Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate - 1110m

BECKONING LIGHT – Hung in when placed under pressure over the final 300m. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

IN NEPAL – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

HEART OF TIER – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly had suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer K. Doughty was advised that the filly will now incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m prior to racing again.

Race 4: Coca Cola Class 5 H’Cap - 1650m

TAMPERE – Jockey R. Fradd accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 100m.

IMPERIL – Stewards questioned App T. Brooker regarding the tactics she adopted on IMPERIL, which led and set a fast tempo in the middle stages. App Brooker explained that she was instructed to lead, as is the customary racing pattern of the gelding, and after passing the 1200m she felt she settled and had the horse travelling comfortably. App Brooker added soon afterwards she was forced to work harder when NELAMOS improved to her outside and this resulted in IMPERIL quickening the tempo. Stewards advised App Brooker that in their view she had erred in not attempting to restrain IMPERIL and steady the tempo to allow the horse the opportunity to finish the race off strongly.

NELAMOS – Stewards questioned App B. Stower regarding the riding tactics adopted on NELAMOS, which raced outside of the leader IMPERIL and applied pressure to that runner resulting in a fast tempo being set in the middle stages. App Stower explained that NELAMOS has raced best when ridden on the speed but in hindsight she was of the view she could have made a greater effort to restrain her mount and take a trail behind IMPERIL. Stewards agreed it would have been more advantageous to restrain and give the horse an easier run to allow the gelding to finish the race off strongly.

Race 5: Graham Ireland QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate - 1200m

SHAWL – After passing the 1100m had to be eased when tightened for room.

THEOPOLY – Raced greenly in the early stages and near the 1100m shifted in away from UMAJET.
HOSTWIN GALAXY – Over the concluding stages shifted out abruptly under pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from one nostril during the event. Trainer G. Moore was advised that the gelding must now gallop satisfactorily over 1000m prior to racing again.

NORTHERN REVENGE – Raced 3 wide throughout.

UMAJET - Raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 6: Sky Racing Ratings Band 0-65 H'Cap - 1050m

IN BANGKOK – App L. Dittman reported that his saddle shifted forward soon after the start placing him at a disadvantage.

I AM MCLOVIN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

EVERYDAY HERO – App S. Eilbeck reported at scale that the gelding did not travel comfortably on today’s rain affected track.

Race 7: Mitavite Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 3 Plate - 1350m

The start of this race was delayed when UMGENI lost its bridle when being led behind the barriers, which resulted in it having to be refitted.

GROBBELAAR – Slow to begin.

UMGENI – Stewards questioned jockey D. Griffin regarding the riding tactics he adopted in the early and middle stages where the gelding led and set a fast tempo. Jockey Griffin stated that he rode forward from the barrier and when he attempted to restrain the gelding approaching the 1100m, despite his efforts, UMGENI commenced to overrace and for this reason he was unable to slow the speed in the middle stages.

MR CHA CHA – Stewards questioned jockey B. Pengelly regarding the riding tactics adopted on the gelding, which raced outside the leader UMGENI when the tempo was fast. Jockey Pengelly explained that MR CHA CHA races best when able to lead and when it became apparent that he was unable to cross UMGENI after passing the 1000m he attempted to settle MR CHA CHA however, the gelding overraced and he was unable to settle the horse back at the girth of UMGENI. Stewards noted his explanation.

Race 8: Become A BRC Member BenchMark 70 H'Cap - 1200m

THE BROWN ONE – Jumped away awkwardly.

IGNEOUS – Shifted in under pressure over the final stages of the race.
