Race 1: SEVEN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 800 M

MISHANI EXTREME– Began awkwardly and shifted out.

BEFORE ANYONE ELSE – Rider A. Jones could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance of BEFORE ANYONE ELSE, except that the eventual winner racing to her outside throughout, may have had some effect on her mount. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have minor nasal discharge, a cough and a slow recovery. Trainer T. Gollan was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to BEFORE ANYONE ELSE racing again.

Hellyer reported the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages and would not settle.

Race 6: THE IPSWICH TRIBUNE BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1710 M

ZAYNUDIN (IRE) – For several strides near the 100m, raced in restricted room between TAREX (NZ) and BETTER YET, before obtaining clear running passing the 50m.

SHE'S GOT VEUVE – Rider K. Wilson-Taylor reported the mare had come to the end of its preparation. Passing the 50m, steadied when racing in restricted room between TAREX (NZ) and DEEP DAWN. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer representative B. Killian advised the mare would now be going for a spell.

GURU CLASS – After being caught 3 wide without cover passing the 1400m, was allowed to stride and join the leader near the 900m. Rider A. Jones explained her intention was to allow DEEP DAWN, the expected leader, to cross to the rail approaching the 1400m and then sit outside that mare in the early stages, however; when DEEP DAWN crossed her mount, the rider then steadied and remained off the rail in front of GURU CLASS. She said she was then obliged to take hold of her mount and at the same time GIFTED GAMER shifted from a wider position to take up the one out, one back position she had intended. She added she was then obliged to race wide without cover before allowing the mare to stride and join the leader passing the 900m.

Lost its near hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed  a laceration to near hind leg, consistent with being galloped on.

LONE FORCE – Near the 1100m, eased when racing to the inside of MISTER BIANCO, which after becoming unbalanced, shifted in slightly when bumped by TARADALE (A. Thompson), which had improved quickly into a neat run between MISTER BIANCO and SINGULAR (B. Lerena), which was commencing to shift in. In all the circumstances, riders A. Thompson and B. Lerena with severely reprimanded and told to exercise more care in similar situations.

MISTER BIANCO – Bumped and became unbalanced near the 1100m.
