Race 1: February 13th Drought Relief Raceday QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap - 1050 metres
1st PERSISTENT SHADOW 2nd CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY 3rd McBULLIRUM 4th - FILLIES ON FIRE
NEON MAGIC - Refused to load into the barriers. Stewards ordered the late scratching of the gelding at 12.41 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on NEON MAGIC be refunded and that the following deductions apply:
5¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, PERSISTENT SHADOW
4¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, PERSISTENT SHADOW
7¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY
Trainer L. Wright was told that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
PERSISTENT SHADOW - Began awkwardly.
CRAIGLEA GHETTO - Bumped with another runner at the start.
McBULLIRUM - Bumped with another runner at the start. Raced greenly in the home straight.
CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY - Raced keenly in the early stages and refused to settle.
NIGHT LILY - Raced keenly in the early stages.
FILLIES ON FIRE - Hung out from the 800 metres, resulting in the bit pulling through the filly's mouth and placing Jockey McIver at a disadvantage. Trainer S. Sigvart was told that a warning will be placed on the filly's racing manners.
Race 2: SEA FM Class 4 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st ELIAZER 2nd KILLER WASP 3rd PERFECT RAINBOW 4th - OH YEAH
SMUDGER,- Late arriving on course due to a float breakdown, was examined by the Club's veterinary officer and passed fit to start. Shortly after the start bucked and was restrained out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J. McConachy was told that the gelding must perform satisfactorily in a trial before being permitted to race again.
OH YEAH - Slipped behind on jumping and lost ground.
KILLER WASP - Bumped shortly after the start. Over the concluding stages Apprentice Q. Krogh lost the use of his nearside rein.
Race 3: Blacks Real Estate Maiden Handicap - 1300 metres
1st - GUNDY MAGIC 2nd FOREST MAGIC 3rd HIDDEN DAISY 4th - ZATOCHIO
ICE CI - Began awkwardly. Shortly after straightening had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room between runners.
ZATOCHIO - Dipped at the start. Jockey F. Edwards was fined $300 for using his whip on the gelding on 11 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 6 more than is permitted under the rules, and some of which were consecutive (A.R.137A(5)(a)(i))
HIDDEN DAISY - Shifted out abruptly at the start.
GUNDY MAGIC - Jockey A. Coome was reprimanded for using his whip on the gelding on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more time than is permitted under the Rules.
Race 4: M Group Tyres & Mechanical QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1200 metres
1st CRAIGLEA WANDOO 2nd SUPREME JET 3rd DUAN OSCAR 4th - STRONG WILL
DUAN OSCAR - Began awkwardly, then raced keenly in the early stages and refused to settle. Passing the 800 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
COURTZIG - Laid out from the 600 metres and proved difficult to ride.
Race 5: Smartstate Rentals BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1560 metres
1st CLEANSING ALE 2nd EYE WINSOME 3rd SLIM HENRY 4th - MADAM PINK
HAYLEE MAREE - Jockey F. Edwards was reprimanded under A.R.137A(4)(c)for using his whip on the mare when it was out of contention.
HATZIS - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was slow to begin and failed to respond to its rider's urgings, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer L. Wright said that, in light of the poor performance, gelding will be retired.
ROCKIN' READY - When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, App. N. Summers said that her mount travelled comfortably throughout the early and middle stages, however when asked for an effort passing the 500 metres failed to respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
CLEANSING ALE - Passing the 1300 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the gelding, trainer S. Sigvart could offer no explanation for its improved run, other than that he had freshened up the gelding following its most recent run and it may have appreciated today's softer track conditions.
Race 6: McDonald Murphy BenchMark 50 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st MADEMOISELLE ZARIZ 2nd AUTHENTIC SWING 3rd RESET OUR WORLD 4th - REASONABEEL
AUTHENTIC SWING - After being late arriving on course due to transport difficulties, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
RHAEGO - Slow to begin.
LUCIFER'S ANGEL - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
FORBARREL - For some distance in the early stages raced keenly and had to be continually steadied away from the heels of runners in front. Inclined to lay out near the 400 metres.
SOMEPLACE - Passing the 1200 metres was bumped and became awkwardly placed on heels.
Jockey S. Sheargold, the rider of MADEMOISELLE ZARIZ, was spoken to regarding making contact with connections prior to weighing in.
Race 7: Daily Mercury Class 2 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st DOTHERIGHTHING 2nd COVENTRY 3rd BEYOND 4th - DASH OF WIZZARD
ALL BAR THE JEWELS - Bounded in the air on jumping.
DANE CHEVAL - Began awkwardly.
When the pace steadied near the 800 metres FADED (App. R. Payne) improved onto heels and had to be steadied. ALL BAR THE JEWELS (A. Lawrence), which was following, was hampered as a consequence, shifted out and carried DUAN MAJOR (S. Sheargold) out onto BEYOND (D. Hayse).
