Despite this, the gelding continued to lay in under pressure and was doing its best work over the concluding stages.

On return to scale, jockey P. Hammersley, rider of the 2nd placegetter TIMELESS PRINCE, viewed the stewards’ patrol video of the concluding stage to ascertain if he would lodge a protest against PILLAR OF CREATION being declared the winner. Jockey Hamersley declined to lodge a protest. Subsequently, stipendiary steward Mr K. Daly lodged an objection. Stewards gave consideration to this objection and found that after passing the 200m PILLAR OF CREATION shifted out making contact with SAMBUCA SHOT, which was forced out on to the rightful running of TIMELESS PRINCE, causing that horse to be hampered and shifted off its racing line and causing its rider to stop riding for a short distance. Stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered was in excess of the short half head margin and therefore the protest was upheld and correct weight was semaphored on the placings - No. 5. Timeless Prince No. 7. Pillar Of Creation No. 16 Mischievous – No. 9. Honey Toast
LUCKY BLACK – Overraced in the early stages.

Wiggins advised stewards he felt the overall performance was disappointing and indicated he had recommended to connections to send the horse for a spell. Trainer L. Tipper confirmed her intention to send the horse for a spell.

She indicated the horse travelled comfortably until being asked for a response near the 500m and did not stretch out before weakening in the home straight.
EGIPTIENNE – Very fractious in the barriers and reared on a number of occasions and then reared as the start was effected, losing significant ground. Prior to correct weight being given, stewards observed the video footage to be satisfied that the horse was granted a fair start. After viewing the footage, stewards were satisfied and declared correct weight. Trainer L. White was advised that the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to starting again.
SHIROTAI – Inconvenienced on jumping away. Stewards questioned apprentice Orman regarding his riding of this gelding when rounding the home turn, which resulted in the horse having to be steadied away from the heels of the weakening Super Kangaroo. Of concern to stewards was apprentice Orman’s actions in shifting out after having obtained a run to the inside of that horse. Apprentice Orman indicated that given the track conditions he was endeavouring to shift away from the fence as he felt that the running closer to the fence was inferior, and he had not observed that SUPER KANGAROO was not travelling well at this point of the race. He added that with hindsight he agreed with the stewards’ view that it would have been a better option to improve to the inside where clear running was available. Stewards advised apprentice Orman in their opinion he had erred however his decision was not unreasonable in all the circumstances.
KIRSTEN COVE – Inconvenienced on jumping away. Jockey A. Taylor reported her mount raced greenly in the home straight.
