Race 1: Vanderfield John Deere Benchmark 65 H'cap – 1050m

Near the 300m both TANGENT and PARADISE PINK when attempting the same run were placed in restricted room when COUNT KAWANA shifted in slightly and FIBRO shifted out at the same point. As a result, TANGENT was checked and blundered. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any one rider could be held accountable for the matter no further action was taken.

IT’S GONNA BE GOOD – Trainer N. Hilton was fined $100 for failing to produce the registration papers for the horse. Tightened for room at the start. Raced wide throughout.

DANORO LAD – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

TANGENT – Momentarily forced to steady to avoid the heels of another runner shortly after the start. Held up for clear running passing the 200m. Forced to steady when placed in restricted room approaching the 50m when attempting the same run as another runner and went to the line without being fully tested.

PARADISE PINK – Placed in restricted room shortly after the start and forced to steady to avoid heels. Forced to steady when placed in restricted room approaching the 50m when attempting the same run as another runner and went to the line without being fully tested.

COUNT KAWANA – Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner when tiring approaching the 100m.

CAPTAIN CLAYTON – Travelled extremely wide throughout the event without cover.

THE ROBBER – Raced wide throughout.


Race 2: Bundaberg Rum Class 3 Plate – 1200m

MORE LEVERAGE – Threw its head in the air at the start and lost ground.

FELIX – Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Hellyer reported his mount hung out throughout the event. Raced wide throughout.

CAZNOT – Slow to begin. Due to the moderate tempo raced keenly and was forced to check to avoid heels for a considerable distance approaching the 800m.

HIGH DEGREE – After being crossed after passing the 1000m was forced to check to avoid the heels of BAM’S PRINCESS when that runner steadied the pace of the race. N. Evans, rider of BAM’S PRINCESS, was reminded of his obligations in relation to excessively slowing the tempo of the race. Raced keenly due to the moderate tempo and was forced to check to avoid heels for a considerable distance approaching the 800m.

BAM’S PRINCESS – Due to the moderate tempo raced keenly and was forced to check to avoid heels for a considerable distance approaching the 800m. On return to scale, Jockey N. Evans expressed some disappointment with the performance of the horse which he was of the opinion the filly failed to run on as expected in the home straight.

MEDAL AFRIQUE – Hung out rounding the home turn.

MORVEN – Raced wide throughout.

WILL TO RULE - Jockey K. Yoshida was cautioned for using his whip on one more occasion than the permissible number under the rules.


Race 3: Queensland Choice Meats Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1625m

WILL’S CHOICE – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin

THE A LISTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly during the middle stages of the event. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination of the horse which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Both trainer M. Nolan and jockey K. Yoshida were of the opinion that the poor performance was attributable to the horse racing wide and also not running out a strong 1625m of tonight’s event.

BLUE JEST – When racing keenly shifted wider on the track passing the 1200m and raced wide from that point.

KISS ME DEADLY – Raced in restricted room for a short distance when weakening near the 500m. Apprentice H. English reported her mount travelled well throughout the event however when placed under pressure from the 600m failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Trainer M. Kropp advised that following the disappointing performance he would now review the horse’s current preparation, which may include sending the gelding for a spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 4: K&R Plumbing Supplies Class 1 Plate – 1625m

SWINDLERS MISS – Subject to further submissions, trainer P. Facoory was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

CARACAS – Tightened for room near the 1400m and lost ground when DANZER GIRL shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey B. Stewart, rider of DANZER GIRL, was advised to exercise more care.

PURE REVENGE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout and bumped with another runner near the 700m.

DANZER – Slow to begin. Overraced after passing the 1400m onto the heels of another runner and then shifted out and was checked.

RUBY RAY – On return to scale apprentice E. Ljung reported her mount raced very keenly during the early and middle stages of the race. Jockey E. Ljung was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 5: Vanderfield Hino Class 5 H'cap – 1300m

SKATING AWAY – Raced wide from the 800m.

INTERLUDE – On return to scale jockey M. Hellyer reported his mount travelled well throughout the event however when placed under pressure passing the 500m failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing.

I DO CARE – Jockey L. Tilley was fined $200 for returning to scale overweight.


Race 6: XXXX Gold Maiden H'cap – 1300m

ROCK ‘N’ RHUMBA – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

GYPSIE AMIE – Slow into stride and failed to muster early speed.

JERRYVIL – Brushed the running rail on 2 occasions leaving the 1000m.

ONCE TWICE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

SHAWL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ROYAL ILLUSION – On return to scale apprentice T. Brooker reported her mount travelled well throughout the event, however had a tendency to lay out during the event and failed to run on over the concluding stages of the event when placed under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

MYTYBYTE – Jockey D. McIntosh was $100 for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

ROCK ME CRAZY – Apprentice B. Grylls was fined $200 for using her mount more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
